Everett H. Glazier
JEFFERSON - Everett H. Glazier, 101, formerly of East Walnut Street, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at the Jefferson Geriatric Center, where he had lived for the past seven years.
He was born April 23, 1901, in Malden, Mass., the son of Willard E. and Maude E. (Smith) Glazier. He had been a Jefferson resident for more than 70 years.
Mr. Glazier was a graduate of Colby Academy in New London, N.H., where he was active in football, baseball, ice hockey and track. He was a 1927 graduate of Oberlin College.
His working career started with the First National Bank of Willoughby. He later worked for Cleveland Trust Co. In 1936, he purchased the Lampson Insurance Agency, which became the Glazier Insurance Agency, which he owned until his retirement in 1981.
His son, John, joined him in the business in 1960. He was a member and first president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Ashtabula County.
Mr. Glazier was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, where he served as choir director for 30 years. He later was involved with the Jefferson United Methodist Church.
He was also a member of Tuscan Lodge 342; Free and Accepted Masons; Eastern Star, where he served as Grand Patron twice; and the Ashtabula Messiah Chorus, for which he served as president and soloist.
Mr. Glazier also was a member of the Jefferson Rotary Club since 1932 for which he played piano; he was its president and also received the Paul Harris Award.
He also enjoyed bowling, music and reading.
Survivors include his son, John E. Glazier of Jefferson; a daughter, Mary G. Hobbs of Chagrin Falls; four grandchildren, Jeffrey K. Hobbs, Jody E. Hayes, Robin G. Baker, and James E. Glazier; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Russell Glazier of Cherokee Village, Ark.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret, in 1987; two grandsons, Robert J. and Steven G. Glazier; and three sisters, Ruth Baker, Dorothy Glazier and Priscella Graves.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Fleming Funeral Home, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson. The Rev. David T. Hill, of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, and Gordon Emerson, lay pastor at the Jefferson United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.
Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, 41 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson, 44047. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Dennis S. Canterbury
Dennis S. Canterbury, age 39, of Mentor, formerly of Madison, died Sept. 7, 2010, at his residence. He was born Oct. 12, 1970, in Cleveland.
Mr. Canterbury worked as a driving instructor for Mentor Driving School and in maintenance for Dave's Auto. Prior to that, he worked as a truck driver for Warner Trucking. He enjoyed reading, watching movies, had an infectious laugh, enjoyed having a good time and working with his hands making and building items out of wood.
Survivors include his mother, Donna Canterbury of Madison; brothers, Allan Mark Canterbury of Mentor and John E. Canterbury of Mentor; stepmother, Cheryl Canterbury of North Ridgeville; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Emory Canterbury; grandparents, Allan and Bessie Grief and Marion and Geneva Canterbury.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor 44060. Family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The family will host a luncheon at the East Heisley Church of God in Mentor following the burial at Mentor Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dennis S. Canterbury Memorial Fund at any First Merit Bank.

Robert E. Fox
NORTH ROYALTON - Robert E. Fox, 70, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, in a tree-cutting accident.
He was born in 1930 in Somerset, Pa. He was retired from Cleveland Clinic, and later worked in the timbering business.
Survivors include his wife, the former Madeline Ruolo; two sons: Terry of Geneva and Woody; a daughter, Cindy; two stepsons: Regis Rankin of Chagrin Falls and Thomas Rankin of Lakewood; a stepdaughter, Karen Gallop of North Carolina; grandchildren: Aarron and Marlene; a brother, Richard; two sisters: Betty Klink and Shirley Myers; and several step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Homer Jr. and Kenneth.
A memorial prayer service will be 7:30 p.m. today at Church of Holy Angels, 18205 Chillicothe Road, Bainbridge. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at North Royalton Cemetery.
Calling hours are 4 to 6 p.m. today at Tabone Funeral Home, 33650 Solon Road, Solon.

Marjorie D. Densmore
CLEVELAND ­ Marjorie D. Densmore, 81, formerly of Geneva, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at University Hospital in Cleveland.
She was born Oct. 13, 1919, in Frostburg, Md., the daughter of George and Catherine (Long) Layman.
Mrs. Densmore worked as an assembler for ATC in Geneva before her retirement.
She belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Zephyrhills, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Geneva Eagles Post No. 2243, was a long time member of the Ashtabula Women's Bowling Association and the Ladies Auxiliary George Farraday Post of the American Legion. She was an avid bowler and golfer.
Survivors include a son, George "Les" Pratt of Geneva; a brother, Charles of Baltimore, Md.; two sisters, Rosalie Drew of Frostburg and Mildred Minnick of New Castle, Del.; two grandchildren, Michael Waller of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Arthur Johnson of Geneva; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest "Ike" Densmore who passed away in 1985; her parents; three brothers, George, Paul and Raymond Layman; and a sister, Virginia Dawson.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Kennedy-Billman Funeral Home, 323 South Broadway, Geneva.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Ireland Cancer Center.

Jack Z. Laslo
MOUNT VERNON ­ Jack Z. Laslo, 84, of Gambier Road, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon.
He was born Jan. 24, 1917, in Conneaut, the son of Alex and Julia (Bassa) Laslo.
Mr. Laslo was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in the South Pacific.
He was a member of the Lyndhurst Community Presbyterian Church and the Masonic Lodge.
He was a retired sales administrator for the Kroehler Manufacturing Co.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Elvi (Nyman) Laslo of Mount Vernon; two sons, Richard Laslo of Mount Vernon, and Robert Laslo of Mayfield Heights; four grandchildren and one great grandson.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Mischka and two sisters, Pearl Michaels and Sally Bartone.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road in Mount Vernon.
Memorial contributions can be made to the East Central Ohio Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, 126 W. Church St., Newark, Ohio 43055.

Marcie Irwin Kern
GRANVILLE - Marcie Irwin Kern, 78, of Granville, formerly of Berea, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at the Selma Markowitz Care Center in Newark.
Born July 18, 1922, in Wayne Township, she was the daughter of James G. and Ina (Sharp) Charters.
Mrs. Kern was a retired purchasing agent for Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea.
She received her bachelor of arts degree from Baldwin-Wallace College after the death of her first husband, Charles Irwin.
Mrs. Kern was an active member of the Heart of Ohio Quilt Guild.
Survivors include her second husband, to whom she was married for 25 years, Dale A. Kern; two sons, Terry Irwin of Marietta and Dana Irwin of Westerville; three daughters, Kathie Heller of Pasadena, Calif., Pat Biehl of Marietta and Evelyn Bryant of Oberlin; two stepsons, Bruce Kern of Granville and Greg Kern of Olmsted Falls; one stepdaughter, Kristi Schra of Clearwater, Fla.; two sisters, Janet McDonald of Phoenix, Ariz., and Evelyn Biddle of Mesa, Ariz.; and 15 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; two sisters; and two brothers.
A private memorial service will be held Saturday at the McPeek Funeral Home in Granville, with the Rev. Tom D. Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville.
Calling hours will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Community Building at Erinwood, 200 Shannon Lane, Granville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, 1435-B W. Main St., Newark, OH 43055-9810.

Sanford Abbott
PLATTSMOUTH, Neb. - Sanford “Cliff” Abbott, 61, of Plattsmouth, died Monday, March 31, 2003, at his home.
He was born March 3, 1942, in Houston, Ala., the son of Melvin M. and Iola H. (Hoyle) Abbott. He was raised and schooled in Geneva, OH.
He joined the U.S. Air Force and then moved to the Plattsmouth area in 1964. After retiring from the Air Force in 1981, he was a truck driver and then worked for the Nebraska Department of Roads.
He was a member of Lepert Wolever Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2543 of Plattsmouth.
Survivors include his father, of Falkville, Ala.; his wife, the Christine M., whom he married Oct. 14, 1994, in Plattsmouth; a son, Tyler Abbott; a daughter, Brittany Abbott; two stepsons, Zachary Mink and Anthony Mink, both of Plattsmouth; six sisters, Maybelle Fettman of Houston, Ala., Buri Lee Shafer of Tucson, Ariz., Ellie Ellsworth of Falkville, Arville Cecil of Piedmont, Darlene Bates of Whitehouse, Texas, and Jewel Hill of Double Springs, Ala.; and three brothers, Leon Abbott of Houston, Ala., Lloy Abbott of Geneva, and Lelton Abbott of Phoenix.
He was preceded in death by his mother; and a sister, Lorene Davis.
Service is 10 a.m. today at Roby Funeral Home Chapel in Plattsmouth, Neb., which is handling the arrangements. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
