Francis L. Park
JEFFERSON - Francis L. "Buzz" Park, 78, of Route 307 East, Jefferson, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, after an 8-month battle with cancer.
He was born July 29, 1922 in Warren, the son of Orra L. and Grace Park.
Mr. Park has lived in Austinburg Township and Jefferson most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II, fighting in the Invasion of Normandy.
Mr. Park was a 35-year employee of Union Carbide, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of the Jefferson Church of the Nazarene, a 25-year member of the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department and the National Rifle Association.
Mr. Park was a sports enthusiast, enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, trapping and going to air shows.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; eight children, Connie Taylor of Ococe, Fla., Donna Wolff of Tampa, Fla., Sandra Lendzian, Cheryl Shelatz and Rick Park of Randall Park, Denise Kapferer and Jeff Parks of Jefferson, three step-children Sherry Martin and Cary Dunford of Jefferson, Scott Dunford of Thompson, 29 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two brothers; Leslie Park of Dunedin, Fla., Eugene Park of Jefferson and sister Betty Williams of Dunedin, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother James Park.
Service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the Jefferson Church of the Nazarene, 55 E. Satin St., Jefferson, with the Revs. Kevin Angel and Richard Wright of the church officiating.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Joseph R. W. Blanche
JEFFERSON Joseph R. W. "Bud" Blanche, 81, of W. Walnut St., died Monday, April 9, 2001, at his residence following a short illness with cancer.
He was born Dec. 4, 1919, in Denmark Township, the son of Charles H. and Lorene (Crouch) Blanche and has been a resident of the Jefferson area all of his life.
Mr. Blanche was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force serving in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was married to the former Ruby King Nov. 24, 1946, in Jefferson. He was an 18 year employee of RMI retiring in 1981.
He was a 50 year member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ and a life master of the American Contract Bridge League. In earlier years, Mr. Blanche tuned and serviced pianos and played the trombone for dance bands. He enjoyed playing bridge, working with computers, was an avid chess player and had many other intellectual pursuits.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby; two children, Joseph W. Blanche of Niles and Laurie B. Crabtree of Jefferson; two grandsons, Justin V. Blanche and Bryan J. Crabtree; and a sister, Martha Sargent of Kansas City, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Charles K. Blanche; and two sisters, Dorothy Horowski and Annice Blanche in childhood.
Memorial services will be held 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 41 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. David T. Hill officiating. Burial of ashes will be in Oakdale Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions can be made to the church. Envelopes will be available during the services.

Pearl A. Carraher
JEFFERSON - Pearl A. Carraher, 101, of Geneva, died Sunday, August 10, 2003, at the Jefferson Geriatric Nursing Center in Jefferson.
She was born on August 8, 1902, in Trumbull Township, the daughter of Cort and Grace (Cone) Atkin, and has been a lifetime area resident.
Mrs. Carraher married Arthur A. "Stub" Carraher on April 4, 1920, and was a homemaker. She loved crocheting, knitting and crafts.
She was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. #6846 Ladies Auxiliary, the Blue Star Mothers and the Gold Star Mothers. She was a member of the Assumption Church in Geneva.
Survivors include a son, John A. (Dorothy) Carraher of Geneva; a daughter, Mary Lou (Ralph) Miller of Picken, SC; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 1974; a son, Howard, during W.W. II; a son Earl, in 1968; a granddaughter, Kathleen Ann Carraher, in 1968; a twin brother, Earl Atkin; and a infant sister.
Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, August 13, 2003, at 10 a.m. at the Assumption Church, 594 West Main Street, Geneva, with Father Paul Tobin officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Geneva.
Calling Hours will be today, August 12, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the KENNEDY-BILLMAN FUNERAL HOME, 323 South Broadway, Geneva.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Assumption Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Jacqueline Louise Skinner
DINBORO, PA - Jacqueline Louise Skinner, 67, of Edinboro, died Saturday, June 7, 2003, at St. Vincent Health Center, 6_11_Skinner_eps Erie, PA.
She was born in Cleveland, OH, on May 29, 1936, the daughter of the late Ernst and Marguerite Smith Billhardt.
Mrs. Skinner was a 1954 graduate of Harbor High School and managed a beauty shop in Lowell, MA. After returning to Ashtabula, she worked at the Vendetti Florist Shop.
She had been a member of St. Peter's Church in Ashtabula, OH, where she sang in the choir. She served with the U.S. Army for 3 years during the Korean War. She enjoyed acting in many community plays.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Skinner, in April; a daughter, Melissa Skinner; and a brother, Robert Billhardt.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Beth) Weir of Geneva; a sister, Mrs. Ken (Catherine) Braithwaite of Chicago, IL; and three grandchildren, Tim, Andy, and Rebecca Weir.
No calling hours will be observed. A Memorial Service will be held at the New Life Assembly of God, 205 W. Liberty St., Geneva, OH, on Saturday, July 12, 2003, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Harry Pishcura officiating.

Mary Anderson Sherrange White
April 5, 1919 - February 25, 2009

Born April 5, 1919, in Erie, Pa., she was the daughter of Henry and Elsie (Hulbert) Anderson. She graduated from Academy High of Erie in 1937, and received her B.S. in Education in 1941 from The State Teachers College, Edinboro, Pa. She was married to Lawrence Sherrange in 1944 and they lived in North East, Pa., where they had two daughters. After leaving North East, she lived in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Fern Creek, Ky., and Erie, Pa.
In 1957, Mary accepted a position with Jefferson Area Local Schools. “Mrs. Sherrange” taught until 1964, when she married Floyd White of White’s Bakery. Mrs. White continued teaching 3rd grade at the Jefferson Elementary School until her retirement in 1985.
Mary was a member of the Jefferson First Congregational Church, Ohio Eastern Star (Sunshine Chapter), DART (Division of Active Retired Teachers), ORTA (Ohio Retired Teachers Assoc.), ACRTA (Ashtabula County Retired Teachers Assoc.) and the Rebekah Lodge of Dorset.
She enjoyed shopping, traveling, gardening, reading and doing puzzles.
Survivors include her daughters, Suzanne (William) McCune and Leslie (Fred) Trautlein, both of Jefferson, Ohio; four granddaughters, Melissa (Shamus) Walters of Galloway, Ohio, Suzanne (Thomas) Saccomanno of Medford, N.J., Melinda (Scott) Oswiecinski of Dublin, Ohio, and Sara (Robert) Waite of Southampton, N.J.; as well as five great-grandchildren, Taven and Caden Walters, Nicholas and Samuel Saccomanno, and Abigail Waite.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Leslie; and her husbands, Lawrence Sherrange and Floyd White.
At her request, no calling hours will be observed.
A Memorial Service/Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the First Congregational Church of Jefferson.

Marian M. Wagner
JEFFERSON - Marian M. Wagner, 80, of W. Monroe Circle, died Wednesday morning, June 11, 2003, in UHHS-Brown Memorial Hospital in Conneaut.
Born on May 21, 1923, in Conneaut, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Ann Cooney Tuttle. She had resided in Jefferson for the past 1 1/2 years. Prior to that, she had made her home in Andover and Sheffield Townships.
Mrs. Wagner was employed by Reliance Electric for 12 years as an assembler. In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, and caring for her cat.
Survivors include three daughters, Lori Bradley of Jefferson, Karla Butcher of Ashtabula, and Alice Brumley of Indianapolis, IN; three sons, Gary Bates of Leroy Township, OH, Jeffrey Bates of Conneaut, and Mark Bates of North Kingsville; and eight grandchildren, Emma, Jacob, Burgundy, and Josh Bates, Sarah and Rebekah Hornung, and James Marvin, and Suzanne Collins; and several great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Wagner; two daughters, Sandra Bates and Beth Ann Stewart; and her stepfather, Howard Love.
Graveside services will be held Friday, June 13, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Kelloggsville Cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth Roberts, of the Pentecostal Church of God of Ashtabula, officiating.
It was the request of the deceased that there be no calling hours, but a family viewing will be held today, June 12, 2003, at the Thompson-Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Conneaut, OH, which is in charge of arrangements.
