Gertrude Moses
JEFFERSON - Gertrude Moses, 85, of West Erie Street, Jefferson, died Tuesday evening, Aug. 13, 2002, at the Jefferson Geriatric Center, where she had been a resident the past 15 months.
She was born June 17, 1917, in Dorset, the daughter of Okey W. and Fountie F. (Crane) McMillion. She had lived in Dorset, Ashtabula and Jefferson for more than 35 years.
She was a 20-year employee of the Horner-Waldorf Box Co., working as a payroll clerk and timekeeper, and retired in 1969.
She married Gerald E. Moses on April 3, 1945, at the United Brethren Church parsonage in Ashtabula.
She was a member of the Jefferson United Methodist Church and former member of the Denmark Grange. She enjoyed traveling, crafts and being a homemaker.
Survivors include three sons, Gerald E. Moses Jr. of Arvada, Colo., Terry L. Moses of Hartsgrove Township, and Gary L. Moses of West Glacier, Mont.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vada Shafer of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 1997; four brothers, Hubert, Clyde, Howard and Glenn McMillion; and a sister, Audrey Jacobs.
Service is 1 p.m. Saturday at the family grave site in Dorset Cemetery. The Rev. Meredith Coleman, of the Jefferson United Methodist Church, will officiate.
No calling hours will be observed.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Ashtabula County, 2420 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, 44004; or the Jefferson United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 125 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson, 44047. Envelopes will be available at the cemetery during the service.

Michele Richardson
JEFFERSON - Michele Richardson, 73, of Route 307 West, Jefferson, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at the Jefferson Geriatric Center following an extended illness.
She was born Feb. 25, 1929 in Phil Campbell, Ala., the daughter of John U. and Lavona (Lee) Robinson.
Mrs. Richardson has been a resident of Jefferson the past three years, coming from Cleveland.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, walking and being with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Hargus; three sons, Paul Richardson of Jefferson, Jerry Richardson of Parma and Scott Richardson of Adelphi, Md.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson, one brother, A.D. Robinson of Columbia Station and one sister, Olene Thompson of Bellgreen, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Ralph, Coburn, John and Ernest Robinson and four sisters, Eassie Taylor, Carrie Hamilton, Loyal Moore and Myrtle Robinson.
Services will be 10 a.m., Saturday at the Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Edward Sturgess of Church of God of Prophecy officiating.
Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.
Calling hours be from 3 to 5 p.m., and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
Harry F. Bartle
JEFFERSON - Harry F. Bartle, 84, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000 at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Mr. Bartle was born July 24, 1916 in Cleveland, the son of Hermen and Paulina Bartle. He had been a resident of Jefferson most of his adult life.
He married Gertrude E. Hefner Aug. 3 1940 at the Jefferson Church of the Nazarene.
Mr. Bartle was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II.
He was a 46-year employee of R.W. Sidley, Inc., serving as vice-president at the time of his retirement in 1981. He was also Director Emeritus on the board of R.W. Sidley, Inc.
Mr. Bartle was an honorary member of I.U.O.E. Local #18, being active more than 30 years. He served on the Jefferson Village Council in the 1950s and enjoyed fishing, boating, and his family.
He is survived by a son, Richard H. Bartle of Jefferson; a daughter, Janice R. Divine of Jefferson; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and fur half-sisters, Lillian Selent of California, Louise Schuman of Cleveland, Virginia Bates and Mary Green, both of Florida.
He is preceded is death by his parents, his wife Gertrude on Aug. 8, ; and a half-sister, Eleanor Price.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Meredith Coleman of the Jefferson United Methodist Church officiating. Entombment will be in the Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at he funeral home.
Billy Joe Cole
JEFFERSON - Billy Joe Cole, 58, S. Spruce St., Jefferson, died early Sunday morning from a probable coronary.
He was born April 2, 1945, in White Sulphur Springs, W. Va., the son of William C. & Evelyn M. (Huffman) Cole, and has been a resident of the Jefferson area most of his life. He was married to the former Doreen R. Budd on September 25, 1965, at the Jefferson United Methodist Church. Mr. Cole has been employed the past 30 years with Boczar Excavating and was employed with Bow Socket for 15 years prior to its closing.
Mr. Cole was a member of the Jefferson Eagles Aerie Lodge #3881, enjoyed working on his vehicles, formerly raced stock cars, and loved being with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Doreen; four children, Darlynn R. (John) Howland of Williamsfield Twp., Joseph W. (Deana) Cole of Pierpont Twp., Carolyn A. (Phil) Pawlowski of Jefferson, and Jacquelyn M. Cole of Kent; seven grandchildren, Kayla, Courtney, Levi, Abbey, Kate, Brooke & Cole; a sister, Martha Arnett of Webster, Fla.; and a brother, James C. Cole of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A service of remembrance will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, at the Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 69 p.m. and Wednesday from 1011:30 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions be made to the Jefferson Community & Recreation Center (for youth activities), 11 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson, Ohio 44047. Envelopes will also be at the funeral home.
Isabelle Woodward
JEFFERSON - Isabelle Woodward, 93, formerly of Cleveland and a resident of the Jefferson Geriatric Center the past 11 years, died Monday evening, Jan. 13, 2003 at her residence.
She was born July 13, 1909, in Trumbull Township, the daughter of H. Ford Nye and Virginia E. (Bean) Nye Scoville and had lived in California for several years before coming to Jefferson.
Mrs. Woodward was a 1927 graduate of Rome High School and was a dietician at Kent State University for several years.
Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Dobrzanski of Maple Heights; four grandchildren, Nadine Hejl and Diane Dobrzanski, both of Hiram, and Kenneth Dobrzanski and Susan Rodriquez, both of Cleveland; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a sister, Winona Quinn of New Lyme Township.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Harold E. Martin, in 1938; her second husband, George Woodward, in 1977; her stepfather, C.W. Scoville; and three sisters, Evelyn Dietrich Hill, Irene Tilden and Edith Montel.
Service is 2 p.m. Saturday at the Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson. The Rev. Richard Neumann, of Lenox Federated Church, will officiate. Cremation will follow the service at the Care Group Cremation Center. Burial of ashes at Oakdale Cemetery will occur at a later date.
Calling hour at the funeral home is 1 p.m. Saturday until the time of service.
Colletta R. Eckenrode
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Colletta R. Eckenrode, 95, died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at her daughter's home in Port Charlotte.
She was born Aug. 26, 1906, in Lily, Pa., the daughter of Christ and Rose (Conley) Bost. She moved to Florida from Geneva in 1998.
She worked as a sales clerk for the W.T. Grant department store, Johnstown, Pa., before moving to Geneva. She later owned and operated Colonial Tourist Home between 1953 and 1980.
She enjoyed gardening and crocheting.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Poje of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Dorothy Conley of Geneva; a son, Francis of Geneva; two sisters, Veronica Sanders of Lily, Pa., and Margaret McNally of Cresson, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl, in 1970; and a son, Donald J., in 1998.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Thursday at Assumption Church, 594 W. Main St., Geneva, with the Rev. Paul Tobin officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Geneva.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva.
