Roger G. McClenaghan
AUSTINBURG - Roger G. McClenaghan, 79, Rt. 45, Austinburg, died Wednesday afternoon at his residence, after a lengthy fight with cancer.
He was born November 16, 1923 in Lakewood, Ohio, the son of William & Mabel (Stuckey) McClenaghan and has lived in Austinburg for 48 years moving here from Lorain in 1955. He was married to Leona M. Wilson on May 15, 1954 In Angola, Ind. He was a World War II veteran where he was an anti-air craft gun operator on an LST-571 in the U.S. Navy. After his honorable discharge in 1947, be sailed the Great Lakes on the ore carriers and worked several other jobs. He finally retired in 1986 from Elkem Metals, formerly Union Carbide, after 30 years.
Roger was a very private, hard working, family man. He was an avid reader of non-fiction books and was a history buff, especially of World War II. He enjoyed flying while he was a pilot, appreciated nature and all it bad to offer, hunting, fishing and canoeing, telling stories, listening to polka and Sousa among other music, singing songs, horseback riding, gardening, wood cutting, farming, Walking in the woods, maintaining his land, rides in the country and Milky Ways.
Survivors include his wife, Leona, four children, Randa L.(Richard) Pucci of Sterling, Ill., Jody McClenaghan of Austinburg, Lee (Glenn) Sloan or Geneva, William "Bill" (Mardi) McClenaghan or Smithfield, Va., a brother Ray of Larain and a sister, Ruth Cooper of Deltona, Fla., five grandchildren, Katie Carter and husband Ron of Geneva, Michael Hobson and wife Mandy Of Kansas City, Mo.Justin Kayla & Jospeh Sloan of Geneva, O., four step grandchildren, Michael Pucci & wife Missy of Marion, Oh., Robert Pucci of Ashtabula, Cherokee Sanders of Los Angeles, Ca. & William Wilkey of Kansas; two great-grandchildren, Riley & Abby Carter of Geneva, six step great-grandchildren, Elizabeth & Ethan Pucci of Marion, Oh, and Kendall Batten of Calif., Nicole, Lukas & Bethany Carter of Folsom, Ca., two step-brothers, Dewitt & Alene of Perry, O. and Robert & Ann McClenaghan of Geneva, and several nieces & nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Wilbur and sister Jessie Van Dyke and step-mother Hazel Eichhorn.
There will be no calling hours, but a private memorial service will be held at his residence in the future. Contributions can be made to the Regional Cancer Center in Ashtabula/or Hospice of Ashtabula County.

Harry Spade
AUSTINBURG -- Harry "Butch" Spade, 52, died Sunday, August 17, 2003 after a short illness at home.
Born January 22, 1951 in Painesville, Ohio, he was the adopted son of Harry and Ada (Mosher) Spade.
Mr. Spade owned and operated B & S Trucking and Excavating for over 30 years in Austinburg.
He was an Austinburg Township Trustee for 14 years and the Republican Precinct Committee Person. He served on the Northwest Ambulance District Board for five years. Mr. Spade also was on the 911 Advisory Committee and the Austinburg Little League Board. He served as a Board of Trustee of the Austinburg United Church of Christ and was a Board and Committee member of Austinburg Country Days.
He was a member of the Austinburg Fire Department since 1981, a member of the Ashtabula County Township Association, the Northeast Ohio Township Association, the Ohio Township Association, the Ashtabula County Fireman's Association, the Harpersfield Volunteer Fire Department for eight years, the Austinburg Grange, the Austinburg United Church of Christ, and served in the Ohio National Guard.
Mr. Spade also coached Little League Baseball. He attended and graduated from Geneva High School in the class of 1969.
Survivors include his wife Janie (Burkholder) Spade whom he married October 10, 1977, one daughter Shana Spade at home, three sons Jeffery of Austinburg, Shaun and Chadd at home, a granddaughter Mardi Stone, and two sisters Juanita Ramos and Ella Mae Elliott both of Geneva.
He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents and his father-in-law Harry (Sonny) Burkholder.
Friends may call on Tuesday (August 19th) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the Kennedy-Billman Funeral Home, 323 South Broadway in Geneva.
Services will be held Wednesday (August 20th) at 11:00 a.m. at the Austinburg United Church of Christ, Route 307 Austinburg with Pastors David Sommer and Aletta Burkholder officiating. Burial will be in Austinburg Center Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Northwest Ambulance District, Austinburg Fire Department or Austinburg United Church of Christ.
Edna Sheldon
AUSTINBURG TOWNSHIP - Edna Sheldon, 86, of Austinburg, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at the Jefferson Geriatric Center in Jefferson.
She was born July 10, 1916, in St. Joseph's Settlement in West Virginia, the daughter of Joseph L. and Gertrude (Foland) Wayman. Formerly of Painesville, she had lived in Austinburg the past 4 1/2 years.
She was a member of St. Mary Church in Painesville and Assumption Church in Geneva. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, embroidery and spending time with her family.
Survivors include a son, Harold Sheldon of Austinburg; four daughters, Sandra Ochsner of Franklin, N.C., Shirley Rider of Richmond Heights, Barbara Wollant of Thompson and Marjorie Krause of Gainesville, Ga.; a brother, Joseph Wayman of Little Valley, N.Y.; a sister, Mary Zagorsky of Cork; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Pauline Beal, Ellen Augustine, Hilda Rose, Mildred Bork and Lucy Tyla.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 242 N. State St., Painesville. The Rev. Paul Tobin, pastor of Assumption Catholic Church in Geneva, will officiate. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Calling hour is 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville.

Jack R. Quickel
AUSTINBURG - Jack R. Quickel, 77, of Austinburg, died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at the Hamot Medical Center, Erie, Pa., he was a lifelong Geneva area resident.
Born on December 11, 1925, in Geneva, the son of Cecil and Dorothy (Warren) Quickel.
He married Frances Svenson Sept. 30, 1996, in Denmark Township.
Mr. Quickel was a graduate of Geneva High School in 1947. He served in the United States Army during World War II in Central Europe and then worked at the G.E. Jefferson Welds Plant, retiring in 1982 after 30 years.
He was a Civil War buff and also enjoyed hunting, fishing and trap shooting. He was a former member of Ashtabula County Casting Club and a member of Park Street Christian Church, Geneva.
Survivors include his wife, Frances; one daughter, Elaine (James) Tuttle of Conneaut; one son, Bruce (Elizabeth) Quickel of Geneva; two stepsons, Chris (Roberta) Svenson and David (Laura) Svenson, all of Denmark Township; 13 grandchildren, Angela, Jacob, Robin, Adrian, Denise, Daniel, Diane, Eileen, Justin, Janet, Susan, Davina and Craig; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Gretchen Quickel; and one son, Barry Quickel.
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at The Behm Family Funeral Homes, Inc., 175 S. Broadway, Geneva. Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2003, at the funeral home. The Rev. Larry Wade of Park Street Christian Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Geneva.
Patricia J. Booth
AUSTINBURG TOWNSHIP - Patricia J. Booth, 75, died Saturday, May 18, 2002.
She is survived by her two daughters, Gail D. Penfield of Avon Park, Fla., and Patricia R. Booth of Austinburg Township; and son, Raymond E. Booth Jr. of Geneva.
Fleming Funeral Home Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., is handling the arrangements.
Janice M. Johnson
AUSTINBURG TOWNSHIP - Janice M. Johnson, 50, Mechanicsville Road, Austinburg Township, died Monday afternoon, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center following a short illness.
She was born Oct. 23, 1952 in Ashtabula, to Robert M. and Helen M. (Hubbard) Gockerell, and lived in the Austinburg and Geneva areas all of her life.
Mrs. Johnson was a 1970 graduate of Geneva High School and was an employee of Alltell in Geneva. She loved horses, flower gardening and buying new vehicles.
Survivors include two children, Robert M. Johnson of Jefferson and Rachel M. Johnson of Austinburg Township; her mother of Austinburg Township; her companion of nine years, Bill Glosser and one brother, Gary M. Gockerell of Austinburg Township.
She was preceded in death by her father, who died in 1969.
Funeral will be 2 p.m., Saturday, at the Fleming Funeral Home Inc. 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with Mother Barbara Johnson of St. Peter's Episcopal Church officiating. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Austinburg Township.
