Mary Lou McDowell
AUSTINBURG TOWNSHIP - Mary Lou McDowell, 60, a resident of the Austinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the past year, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001.
Born Aug. 29, 1941, in Warren, she was the daughter of Herbert C. and Berdene M. (Metzler) Heisley and had been a resident of Dorset Township and Jefferson most of her life.
Mrs. McDowell was on disability retirement following two years of employment at Channel Products. She also worked many years for Jefferson Telephone Co.
She was a former member of the Denmark Grange, enjoyed ceramics, playing bingo and visiting with her friends.
Survivors include her mother; two stepchildren, Evelyn M. Moore of Dorset Township and Reed McDowell of Plant City, Fla.; nine step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father; a daughter, Lauri McDowell in June, and a brother, Herbert "Bud" Heisley.
Service is 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Fleming Funeral Home Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with Gordon Emerson, lay pastor of Jefferson United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Dorset Cemetery.
Calling hours are from noon until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
Marianne M. Pinkney
AUSTINBURG - Marianne M. Pinkney, 61, of Lenox Township, died Friday March 28, 2003 at the Austinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Home.
She was born April 28, 1941 in Ashtabula, the daughter of Donald and Anna R. Holt and was a Jefferson area resident all of her life. She married Barry D. Pinkney on June 26, 1970 in Everson Valley, Pa.
She was most recently employed at Combined Tactical Systems in Jamestown, Pa. She was a member of Lenox Federated Church and volunteered at the Ashtabula Humane Society for 11 years. She belonged to the National Wildlife Federation, loved to play the organ, was an artist, enjoyed yard work, gardening and bird watching.
Survivors include her husband; three children, Dwayne R. Pinkney of Ashtabula, Kristine D. Berry of Lenox Township and Laura Simko of Jefferson; and a brother, Carl Holt of Lowellville.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Lenox Federated Church, 2610 Lenox-New Lyme Rd., Jefferson. The Rev. Richard Neumann will be officiating. Burial will be in Lenox Center Cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Fleming Funeral Home, Inc. 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson.

Greg Hughes
AUSTINBURG - Greg Hughes, 42, of Austinburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at his home.
He was born Sept. 29, 1960, in Ashtabula, the son of Bill and Pearl (Newsome) Hughes, and had been a lifelong Ashtabula County resident. He had lived in Austinburg the past year.
A 1978 Edgewood High School graduate, he worked at the Perry nuclear power plant for three years as a security guard.
He enjoyed music since he was 14 years old, and played bass guitar with "Diamondback, " a local country band. He also enjoyed Little League baseball, electronics and ham radios.
He was a member of Eagles Clubs in Ashtabula and Jefferson.
Survivors include his parents, of Jefferson; a brother, Zach of Jefferson; a stepson, Timothy Ryan of Chardon; his fiancé, Wendy Clayman; and two stepdaughters, Katherine and Christine Clayman, both of Austinburg.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
At the deceased's request, no service will take place.

Glenn D. Scott
AUSTINBURG - Glenn D. "Scotty" Scott, 70, of River Glen Drive, Austinburg, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at his home.
He was born Nov. 18, 1930, in Conneaut, the son of Charles and Ethel (Haywood) Scott, and had lived 30 years in the Austinburg area.
He was a sergeant first class in the Army during the Korean Conflict, assigned to Company D 503rd Airborne Division. He was a paratrooper and was involved in atomic bomb testing.
He was a manager at Stanton Ford, and manager and car salesman at Crandall Ford in Madison and Thompson. He retired in 1988.
Mr. Scott was a member of the Geneva Blue Lodge, drove stock cars at Raceway 7, was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed sailing.
Survivors include his wife, the former Nancy J. Barnes, whom he married Nov. 20, 1968, in Ripley, N.Y.; a son, John Scott of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughters Sandra Scott of Jacksonville, Fla., Caroline Pinney of Wadsworth, and Jennifer Salay of West Park; two stepsons, Richard Ales of Mentor, and James Ales of Geneva; a step-daughter, Michele Ales of Eastlake; three grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; a brother, Dan Scott of Conneaut; and two sisters, Mae Brubach of Geneva, and Adelaid White of Orlando, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Homer, Clifford and Guy Scott; and three sisters, Esther Hutchinson, Dorothy Thornton and Frieda Hiller.
Service is 1 p.m. Monday at the Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva. The Rev. Charles Althoff, of St. John's Lutheran Church, Geneva, will officiate. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Geneva.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Grace L. Brail
AUSTINBURG Grace L. Brail, 80, Austinburg, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 27, 1920, in Ashtabula, she is the daughter of Walter and Edith (Macintosh) Bissell.
Mrs. Brail married Stanley E. Brail who passed away Dec. 23, 1983.
She graduated from The Ohio State University and was the secretary and bookkeeper for the Austinburg Co-Op. She was also a substitute teacher in Austinburg.
Mrs. Brail was a member of the United Church of Christ of Austinburg where she volunteered as secretary and bookkeeper and also played the organ. She did bookkeeping for the Sam Wharram Nature Club. She volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and Lake Farm Park. She played piano at the local nursing homes and was a literacy volunteer. She belonged to the Austinburg Garden Club, was involved in the local bird count and Cornell University Feeder Watch Program.
Survivors include two sons, Richard of Saybrook, and Gordan of Trumbull; a brother Carl of Ashtabula; and two grandchildren, Jacob of San Antonio, Texas, and Michael of Trumbull.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; her parents; and a sister, Margaret Runyan.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Center Cemetery in Austinburg Township followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. at the United Church of Christ in Austinburg. The Rev. Gretchen Wagner will be officiating. A reception will follow.

Einar G. Ahlman
AUSTINBURG – Einar G. Ahlman, 84, of SR 307 died Tuesday, October 1, 2002 at Austinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born July 6, 1918, in Cleveland, the son of Ernest and Lavida (Larson) Ahlman, and has been an area resident for many years.
Mr. Ahlman attended Louisiana State University. He was an U.S. Army Veteran of World War II serving for four years in England with the 93rd Bomb Group of the 8th Army Air Corps.
Mr. Ahlman was employed for 32 years by the Ashtabula Rubber Company, retiring in 1983.
He was a longtime member of the First United Church of Christ in Austinburg.
He enjoyed working on his farm, reading, and music. He especially enjoyed being with his family, and was a loving husband, father, brother and friend.
His survivors include two sons, Richard E. Ahlman of Austinburg and Leland M. Ahlman of Plano, Texas; one brother, Eldon G. Ahlman of Austinburg, and two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Robert Ahlman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian (Erickson) Ahlman, in 1990; and his parents.
A graveside service will take place 1:00P.M.on Friday, October 4, 2002 at the family gravesite in Austin Cemetery, Austinburg Township. The Rev. Gretchen Wagner of United Church of Christ of Austinburg will officiate.
No calling hours will be observed.
