Lloyd E. Hartley, Jr., 72, of Sugar Land, TX, formerly of New Athens, OH and Anaheim, CA, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004 at his home. He was born June 25, 1932 in Duncanwood, Ohio, a son of the late Lloyd E. And Bessie M. Yates Hartley.
Lloyd earned his Masters Degree in Engineering at The Tri-State University in Angola, IN in 1951 and went on to earn his Masters Degree in Business at UCLA in 1982. He was a retired Aerospace Engineer at North American Aviation and at NASA in Houston. He was a member of the Family Church in Sugar Land and a member of the Sugar Land Lodge 1141, F. & A.M.
Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Doris Benbow Hartley; 2 sons, Lloyd Hartley, III of CA and Timothy Edwin Hartley of WI; 5 stepchildren, Carl Johnston, Sharon Bushek, Karen Bagley, John Davis and James Davis, all of TX; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, W. Paul Hartley, Yorba Linda, CA, Sam Hartley of New Athens, and Joe Hartley of Pataskala, OH; a sister, Louise Derfer of Columbus; and a foster brother, Robert Bishop of East Palestine, OH.
Friends may call Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the New Athens United Methodist Church. Rev. Charles Mehl will officiate. Interment will be in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH.

Melford F. ''Peanut'' Wallace

Melford F. ''Peanut'' Wallace, 83, of Cadiz, died Thursday, September 2, 2004 at Weirton Medical Center, Weirton, West Virginia. He was born August 20, 1921 in Cadiz, a son of the late Frances Mary Wallace.
He was a member of St. James A.M.E. Church in Cadiz and a Mason. He was a former employee of the Hillcrest Dairy in Cadiz for thirty six years, and was a retired employee of the Ohio Department of Transportation, after nineteen years, where he cared for the rest area at Tappan Lake.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Carolyn and Anna Wallace and Mary Banks.
Surviving are his twin sister, Milli Payne and her husband, Sequoyah of Dallas, Texas and by several nieces and nephews and friends.
Friends may call Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at St. James A.M.E. Church with Rev. D'Wain O. Wales officiating.
Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery
Helen Jolliff Hilligas

Helen Jolliff Hilligas, 85, of Cadiz, died Monday, November 22, 2004 at Oak Hill Manor in Louisville, Ohio. She was born May 10, 1919 in Lewis Co., WV, a daughter of the late Friend B. and Lutie Howard Jolliff.
She was a member of the AARP, and was a retired employee of the Scio Pottery Co.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Scott C. Hilligas in 1967.
Surviving are cousins, Hazel Nicholson and Mary Graham of Canton; numerous other second and third cousins; her cousin and care giver, Charlene Smith of Louisville; and a special friend, Audrey Ferris of Cadiz.
Friends may call Friday from noon until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, 172 S. Main St., Cadiz, OH. Rev. Richard Hasley will officiate. Burial will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.

Barbara Jo Miller, 58, of Hopedale, died Saturday, November 13, 2004 at Trinity Medical Center, West, Steubenville. She was born October 24, 1946 in Wheeling, WV, a daughter of the late Oliver W. And Josephine Barrett Walls.
She was a retired Certified Medical Assistant in the Cleveland area, and attended St. James A.M.E. Church in Cadiz
Surviving are her husband, Holly L. Miller; a daughter, Kelly A. Banks and her husband Rob of Cadiz; a son William Busby and his wife, Katherine of Cleveland Hts., OH; 3 grandchildren: Misha Jones, Kayla Jones Bennett, and Shelly Jones; 3 great grandchildren: Jordan, Joenus and Rayla; a brother, Oliver (Buddy) Walls of Bluffton, SC; and two sisters, Nancy Cole of Bay Village, Ohio and Patty Demangone of Cadiz
Evelyn I. Wilson
October 20, 1918 - November 12, 2004
Evelyn I. Wilson, 86, of Cadiz, died Friday, November 12, 2004 at her home. She was born Oct. 20, 1918, in Orrville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Greeley Dustin and Martha Elizabeth Petty Findling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clement L. Wilson in 1992; two brothers, Walter (Pete) and Ralph Findling; three sisters, Julia Byers, Susie Conrad, and Sally Myers; and a grandson, Kelly Wilson.
Surviving are three sons, Jerry and his wife, Marie, Ronald and his wife, Becky, and Charlie and his wife, Barb, all of Cadiz,; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 262, Cadiz, Ohio 43907.
Betty Lee Knisely

Betty Lee Knisely, 73, Cadiz, died Saturday, November 6, 2004 at Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, West Virginia. She was born June 23, 1931 in Pattons Run, Martins Ferry, Ohio a daughter of the late Andrew and Nettie Williams Carpenter.
She attended Asbury Chapel United Methodist Church, a former employee of Scio Pottery Company, a member of Hopedale American Legion Post #682 Auxiliary and Wheeling Aerie #344 F.O.E.
She was preceded in death in addition to her parents; by her husband Lester Sherman Porter in 1977; a grandson Paul Porter; a sister Mary Jane Carpenter; and 3 brothers: William, Daniel and Andrew Carpenter.
She is survived by 3 sons: Nick Carpenter of Cadiz, Ted Porter of Hopedale, and James Porter of Cadiz; 4 daughters: Nettie Smith, Debbie Wedlake, Vickie Porter, and Tina Colson all of Cadiz; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 3 sisters: Rose Sasak of Adena, Shirley Bariscka of Hartsville, South Carolina, and Martha Morgan of New Alexandria, Ohio; 4 brothers: John Carpenter of Holdredge, Nebraska, Robert Carpenter of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Alvin Carpenter of Wyoming; and Donald Carpenter of Smithfield, Ohio.

Harry G. Smith, 90, Cadiz, died Friday, November 5, 2004 at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz, Ohio. He was born July 1, 1914 in Riverton, West Virginia a son of the late Fred A. and Mary Harper Smith.
He was a member of Scott United Methodist Church in Cadiz; the former Harrison County Extension Agent; and was a Vocational Agriculture Teacher at Claymont and Carrollton Schools.
He was preceded in death in addition to his parents; by his wife whom he married June 15, 1946, Mary Mincks Smith on April 15, 1999; and a great grandson Caden Adams.
He is survived by 2 sons: David Smith and his wife Karen of Greensburg, Indiana and Richard L. Smith and his wife Bonnie of Cadiz, Ohio; 2 daughters: Kathleen Shivaprasad and husband H.L. of Fresno, California and Jane Smith of Steubenville, Ohio; Grandchildren: Sondra Adams and husband Anthony; Sheela, Anand, and Arun Shivaprasad; Erica Goodpaster and husband Jeremiah, and Lee and Laura Smith: Great Grandchildren: Cameron Adams, Joy Smith, and Katie and Emily Goodpaster; 2 sisters: Ruby Huff of Dellroy, Ohio and Juanita Ray and husband Robert of Carrollton, Ohio.

Dr. Robert Neal Finnical

Dr. Robert Neal Finnical, 91. Bowerston, formerly of Cadiz, died Saturday November 6, 2004 at Sunnyslope Retirement Center, Bowerston, Ohio. He was born September 2, 1913 in Cadiz, Ohio a son of the late Dr. O.H. and Anna B. George Finnical.
He was a member of Scott United Methodist Church, Cadiz; a retired Lt. Commander of the U.S. Navy; a graduate of OSU College of Medicine; and a member of the Cadiz American Legion.
He was preceded in death in addition to his parents, by a brother George Finnical and a sister Helen Gammeter.
He is survived by his daughter Gail Hooker and her husband David of Silver Spring, Maryland; a granddaughter, Meredith Hooker of Silver Spring, Maryland; and his guardian Lewis W. Sutherland of Cadiz, Ohio.

Isabel R. Milliken

Isabel R. Milliken, 89, of Cadiz, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2004 at the Carriage Inn of Cadiz. She was born March 24, 1915 in Athens Twp., Harrison Co., Ohio, a daughter of the late Emmett R. and Mary Jane Schrader Snodgrass.
She was a retired cook from the Scio Pottery Co. in Scio and a member of the Asbury Chapel United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Worthy Glenn ''Joe'' Milliken in 1992; three brothers, Glenn Ross, Lawrence Allen, and Harold Raymond Snodgrass; and two sisters, June and Daisy Mae Snodgrass.
Surviving are three sons, John (Becky) Milliken of Cadiz, James Milliken (Mary) of Cape Coral, FL, Danny Joe (Lisa) Milliken of Harrisville; one daughter, Wilma (Jerry) Graham of Cadiz; a daughter-in-law, Helen Milliken of Columbus; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; four sisters, Gertrude Carver, Ada Snodgrass, and Norma Furr all of Cadiz and Vivian Corbin of Uhrichsville, Ohio.
Friends may call Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. William Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Lee's Run Cemetery, near Cadiz.

Lynne Mitchell
August 18, 1947 - December 01, 2004
Lynne Mitchell, age 57, of Boca Raton, Florida went to be with the Lord Wednesday December 1, 2004. Wife and mother extraordinaire she battled Multiple Sclerosis for 35 years, with a positive Christian determination that was an inspiration to many. Born in Cadiz, Ohio 8/18/1947, she graduated from Ohio University, taught grade school, and earned a Masters in Education in Remedial Reading. She was married to her high school sweetheart in 1969, and they moved to Florida in 1973 where they started a family and Lynne spoke for the Christians Women's Clubs around Florida.
Lynne is survived by her husband of 35 years John. Two sons and their wives, Kyle and Dawn Mitchell, Ft Lauderdale, Florida and Todd and Jaclyn Mitchell, Troy, Ohio. Mother Gladys Dickey Mattern Reppart and sister Patricia Mattern Rice. She was preceded in death by her father Wilbur (Nemo) Mattern, step-father Thomas Alfred Reppart and sister Jacqueline Mattern Risdon.
Interment will be in Cadiz, Ohio following a service at the Presbyterian Church 11:00 AM Saturday, December 4, 2004 and a reception will follow the graveside service at the Presbyterian Church. A Celebration of Lynne's Life will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Boca Raton, 11:00 AM Saturday December 11, 2004. Local arrangements are by Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, Ohio.
Lynne's family and friends were active raising funds for the annual MS Walk. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ft. Lauderdale MS Society, 3201 West Commercial Blvd. Suite 127, Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. 33309, in the name of Lynne Mitchell MS Walk Team.
