Marguerite E. Schossler
BURKE, Va.- Marguerite E. Schossler, 81, of Burke, Va., and former resident of Jefferson, died Monday morning at the Halquest Memorial Hospice Center in Arlington, Va. She has been living with her son in Virginia the past few months due to a chronic lung disease.
She was born July 23, 1921, in Lenox Township to Emil and Marcella (Altenbaugh) Diemer and was an Ashtabula County resident all of her life, living in Jefferson the past 36 years.
Mrs. Schossler was a member of St. Joseph Calasanctius Church. She was an activist in environmental, peace and justice movements. She was a founding member of the Natural Resources Defense Council and Greenpeace. She was also a consummate researcher in local history and genealogy and a lifetime collector of antiques.
Mrs. Schossler was an active member in many organizations, including the Nuclear Information Resource Services, Nukewatch, Union of Concerned Scientists, Quest for Peace, Witness for Peace, Lenox Historical Society, Ashtabula Co. Genealogical Society and former Heirloom Collectors Club. She was also a board member of Citizen Power in Pittsburgh.
Mrs. Schossler was loved by her family and friends. She will be missed for her energy, perseverance, leadership in the community, teaching of others and love of nature. She brought an enthusiasm to all she touched.
Survivors include one son, Leonard J. Schossler of Burke, Va.; one daughter Adelaide D. Hesson of Ashtabula and two grandchildren, Greg Schossler and Laura Hesselton, both of Fairfax, Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Regina Diemer; two brothers, John (Bud) and Leo Diemer; one grandson, Charles Hesson, Jr.
A funeral mass will be 10 a.m., Saturday, at St. Joseph Calasanctius Church 32 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with Rev. Frs. Stephen Wassie, Thomas Bishop and Arthur King officiating. Burial will follow in Lenox Township Cemetery. No calling hours will be observed.

Mary C. Hamilton
LENOX TOWNSHIP - Mary C. Hamilton, 95, of Webster Road, died Thursday, April 3, 2003, at her residence.
Services will be 8 p.m. Monday at the Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson. Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.

Andrew J. Obrenski
LENOX TOWNSHIP - Andrew Joseph Obrenski, 3, son of Jack and Lynne (Fertig) Obrenski, of Webster Road in Lenox Township, died Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 3, 2002, at his home.
He was diagnosed six months ago with a Rhabdoid brain tumor, a very rare form of cancer. Fewer than 20 cases have been diagnosed in the United States.
He was born Jan. 14, 1999, at Hillcrest Meredia Hospital in Cleveland.
The family was involved at First Baptist Church in Jefferson, where Andrew enjoyed Sunday school. He also enjoyed playing with and aggravating his older brother, Lucas. He loved shopping at Wal-Mart with his mother and grandparents and going for rides in the car.
His favorite toys were Thomas the Tank Engine trains, Winnie the Pooh and Hot Wheels. He loved chicken nuggets, pizza and vanilla ice cream.
Survivors include his parents; his brother, Lucas John Obrenski; grandparents Ken and Beverly Fertig of Jefferson, and John and Gladys Obrenski of Rock Creek; and a great-grandmother, Leola Rodgers of Jefferson.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson. The Rev. William L. Offutt, of First Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

Mary C. Hamilton
LENOX - Mary C. Hamilton, 95, of Webster Road, died Thursday, April 3, 2003, at her home.
She was born Dec. 2, 1907 in Bozman Mont., the daughter of Samuel and Mary E. (Davis) Gee, and has been a longtime Lenox resident.
She worked in a milk bottling house and for the Ashtabula Extension Office. She attended the Eagleville Bible church and the Lenox Federated Church in earlier years. She was a painter, made rugs, leatherwork, weaving, ceramics and knit.
Survivors include four grandsons, Roger C. of Smithville Texas, Rex O. of Lenox, Mark A. of Rosenberg, Texas and Tracy A. of Washington, Pa. and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marshal in 1965; a son, Norman G. in 1965; a sister, Esther Gee; brothers, Claude, John and Harold Leonard, and Vibrat and Thomas Gee.
Memorial services will be 8 p.m. Monday at Fleming Funeral Home Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson. The Rev. William L. Offutt of First Baptist Church officiating. Cremation took place at Care Group Cremation Center.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Burial will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, in Lenox Center Cemetery. Contributions may be directed to the family. Envelopes available at the funeral home.
Howard W. Ahola
LENOX TOWNSHIP - Howard W. "Bill" Ahola, 72, of Lenox-New Lyme Road, died early Wednesday morning, Feb. 5, 2003, at his home.
He was born May 11, 1930, in Rome Township, the son of Emil M. and Nellie A. (Johnson) Ahola and - except for four years spent in Arizona, had lived in Ashtabula County his entire life.
Mr. Ahola was a graduate of New Lyme-Demming High School and was a Navy veteran, serving during the Korean conflict.
He married Joan M. Schaubert on May 17, 1950, in Cumberland, Md.
Mr. Ahola owned and operated an electrical, plumbing and refrigeration business for many years, then formed Ahola Enterprises building contractors.
A handyman, he stayed busy around the house and in the yard. He enjoyed playing golf.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Thomas W. Ahola of Lenox Township, Patti J. Shelton of Greene Township, and Terry L. Ahola of San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Wilma Bogdan of Rome Township; and three brothers, Donald, Gary and Gerald Ahola, all of Tacoma, Wash.
Private service will take place at the convenience of the family.

Roy A. Stainfield
LENOX TOWNSHIP - Roy A. Stainfield, 61, of Footville-Richmond Road, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at his home.
He was born May 23, 1940, in Lenox Township, the son of Karl W. and Cleo C. (Hinkle) Stainfield.
Mr. Stainfield had lived in Lenox Township most of his life.
He married Judith C. Grilly on Nov. 14, 1959, at First Baptist Church, Jefferson.
He was employed for 31 years at Reliance Electric Corp., retiring in 1992. Mr. Stainfield served as union steward for Reliance Electric and was a former Lenox Township trustee.
He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening and being with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Judith C.; five children; Roy Jr. of Jefferson, Timothy W. of Lenox Township, Sheryl L. of Madison, Jeffrey T. of Jefferson and Christy M. of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Stacey, Bryan, Andrew, Cortney, Kirby, Haley and Carlee; a sister, Betty J. Kowski of North Olmstead and his stepfather, Reid March of Jefferson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Howard.
Service is 10 a.m. Friday, at the Fleming Funeral Home Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. David T. Hill of First Congregational United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Lenox Center Cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
