Gary D. Lewis
LENOX TOWNSHIP - Gary D. Lewis, 69, of Route 46 S., Lenox Township, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at UPMC Horizon Hospital in Greenville, PA.
Born January 8, 1934, in Cleveland, he was the son of Chester Lewis and Freda (Poulton) Lewis, both deceased.
Mr. Lewis was a longtime Lenox Township resident, and he owned and operated Kelly's Bait Shop in Andover for many years. Following his high school graduation, he attended Ohio State University and later served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Lewis was a trustee for Lenox Township for many years; was a district representative for the Pork Producers of America; and enjoyed trapping, fishing, and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy "Dolly" M. (Lempke) of Lenox Township, whom he married August 27, 1973; five sons, Patrick Baxter of PA, Robert Baxter of NH, Donald Baxter of SC, Thomas Baxter of OH, and James Baxter of FL; two sisters, Carole Schafer and Judith Perrotti of OH; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2003, at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect St., Andover. Cremation will follow the service. Calling hour will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.
Frank Lazanis
LENOX TOWNSHIP - Frank Lazanis, 71, of Allen-Comp Road, died Friday at his residence. He was born May 17, 1931 in Jefferson, the son of Michael and Eva (Ficki) Lazanis.
He was a lifelong resident of Jefferson and Lenox Township. He was married to the former Irene T. Kelner on Nov. 26, 1949 at St. Joseph Calasanctius Church in Jefferson.
Mr. Lazanis was a 30 year employee of Pinney Dock and Transport, retiring in 1983. He was a member of St. Joseph Calasanctius Church, Teamsters Local #507 in Cleveland and enjoyed gardening and feeding birds.
Survivors include four sons, Stephen A. Lazanis of Fla., Gerald A. Lazanis and Chris A. Lazanis, both of Jefferson and Michael G. Lazanis of Lenox Township, seven grandchildren and two brothers, John Lazanis of Clearwater, Fla. and Charles Lazanis of Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Irene in 2000 and two brothers, Mike and George Lazanis.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Joseph Calasanctius Church, 32 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Fr. Stephen Wassie officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.
Calling hours are 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at the Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for distribution to a few organizations. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Kathleen A. Riddle
LENOX TOWNSHIP - Kathleen A. Riddle, 57, of Footville-Richmond Road, died Thursday, May 17, 2001, at University Hospitals, Cleveland, from lung cancer.
Born May 5, 1944, in Painesville, she was a daughter of G. Kenneth and Ellen I. (Lautanen) Gowday and had lived in Ashtabula and Lenox Township most of her life.
A 1962 Harbor High School graduate, she married Sam Riddle on May 10, 1970, in Cleveland.
Mrs. Riddle was the executive secretary in the Dolan Unit at Heather Hill Rehabilitation Center, Chardon.
A member of the Catholic faith, she also was an avid gardener and seamstress.
Survivors include her husband; three children, Christopher M. of Warren, Sara E of Pittsburgh and Lisa M. Riddle of Warren; a stepdaughter, Denene Ford of Cleveland; her mother of Ashtabula; five grandchildren; a sister, Marilyn I. Aho of Columbus and a brother, K. Michael Gowday of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1971.
Service is 11 a.m. Monday at the Fleming Funeral Home Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Stephen Wassie of St. Joseph Calasanctius Church officiating. Burial will be in Lenox Center Cemetery, Lenox Township.
Calling hours are 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Ralph A. Orrenmaa
PASADENA, Texas - Ralph A. Orrenmaa, 65, formerly of Conneaut, died Tuesday, Oct. 9. 2001, at his home.
He lived in Texas the past 20 years and was employed at HydroChem Industrial Services Inc.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, the former Helen Rudler; children Debra Sheppard of Katy, Texas, Connie Badke of Richmond, Texas, Ralph Orrenmaa Jr., and Jeff Orrenmaa, both of Alvin, Texas, Wendy Orrenmaa of Houston, Scott Orrenmaa of Beaumont, Texas and Heidi Orrenmaa of Deer Park, Texas; 12 grandchildren; sisters Elizabeth Hedrick and Ellen Gee, both of Conneaut; and a brother, Ahti Orrenmaa of Orlando, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Tyyne; sisters Alno and Liala; and brothers Elmer and Tapio Orrenmaa.
A private service was held Oct. 11, and burial was held at South Park Cemetery in Pearland, Texas. The Niday Funeral Home of Houston, Texas, handled arrangements.
Shirley M. Stainfield
LENOX TOWNSHIP - Shirley M. Stainfield, 90, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at her residence.
Born March 28, 1910, in Andover, she was a daughter of George Linn and Chloe (Campbell) Marvin. She was a lifelong resident of the Andover area and had been living with her nephew, Roy A. Stainfield Sr.
She was a descendant of the Lebbeus Marvin family who settled Andover in 1817.
A 1928 graduate of Andover High School, she went on to Mount Union College where she graduated in 1933 with a bachelor's degree in education. She also later attended Kent State University for graduate work.
She taught for more than 43 years in the Andover, New Lyme and Pymatuning Valley school systems.
She married Neal R. Stainfield Dec. 16, 1939.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Andover and had served as chairperson of the Official Board. She also was a member of the Richmond Grange, the Andover Mardi Club, the National Education Association, the former Northeast Ohio Teachers Association, the Ashtabula County Retired Teachers Association and was a member and past president of the Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Teachers Sorority.
Survivors also include a cousin, Bernice Line of Ravenna.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 8, 1994; her parents; and a brother, James Wendell Marvin.
Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect St., Andover. The Rev. Jeffrey W. Stoll will officiate.
Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Marie M. Baker
LENOX TOWNSHIP - Marie M. Baker, 93, of Lenox-New Lyme Road, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at the UHHS Memorial Hospital of Geneva. She had been a patient there for the past week.
Mrs. Baker was born June 9, 1909, in Cleveland, the daughter of Charles P. and Louise W. (Erler) Fink. She had been a resident of Ashtabula County for 59 years, including 43 years in Austinburg Township and 16 in the Jefferson area. She had previously resided in Willoughby.
She married J Langshaw Baker, Nov. 4, 1932, in Willoughby.
Mrs. Baker was a member of the Austinburg United Church of Christ and the Mary Martha Circle at the church. She was a leader in the Stitch and Sew 4-H Club, when her children were growing up.
She was part of the original ground observers for the Civil Air Patrol during World War II, served on the rescue squad in Willoughby, was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 202 in Willoughby, and was a 58-year member of the Austinburg Grange and the Austinburg Garden Club.
Survivors include her two daughters, Dorothy J. Harder of LaRue and Frances R. Richards of Jefferson; eight grandchildren, Janet L. McDermott of Burbank, Roxanne M. Sparks of Findlay, Ronald J. Harder of Milford Center, Lawrence P. Harder of Mount Victory, Ronda A. Keaton of Chillicothe, Jay T. Richards of Andover, Christopher S. Richards of Jefferson, and Jodi L. White of Perry; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 1976; and a daughter, Anne Marie Prater in 1970.
A graveside service for the burial of cremains is 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, at the Austin Cemetery, in Austinburg Township, with the Rev. Glen Warner, of the Second Congregational-United Church of Christ, officiating.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Fleming Funeral Home Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson.
