Annie Belle Henson

LENOX TWP. - Annie Belle Henson, age 81, of Brockway Rd., Lenox Twp., died early Friday morning, September 21, 2007, at the Jefferson Healthcare Center where she had been a patient the past eight months.
She was born December 28, 1925, the daughter of the late Dewey H. and Leila (Rider) Teal, and has lived in this area since 1971, coming from Euclid. She was married to John R. Henson on November 19, 1949 in Cleveland. Mrs. Henson is a retired worker from the General Electric Corp. and American Bifocal.
She was a member of the Lenox Federated Church where she was involved in the Youth Group. Her and her husband bought the Henson Christmas Tree Farm in 1961 and she enjoyed spending time with her co-workers in her early years. She was a Red Cross volunteer for many years with the Blood Mobile, and was a Grey Lady volunteer at both Ashtabula Co. Medical Center for 10 years and at Richmond Heights Hospital. She taught Sunday school at the Masters Church while living in Euclid. She put on Lenox Community Center programs of Bluegrass music for many years and held Bluegrass Festivals for 14 years on the Christmas Tree Farm. Mrs. Henson was recognized as Lenox Citizen of the Year in 1992.
Survivors include her husband, John R. Henson; two children, Deborah “Debbie” (Doug) White and John “Jack” Henson, both of Lenox Twp.; and five grandchildren, Katy and Doug White, John, Adam and Zachary Henson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 24, 2007, at the Lenox Federated Church, 2610 Lenox-New Lyme Rd., Lenox Twp., with Dr. Michael Williams, pastor of the Lenox Federated Church officiating.
Calling Hours will be held Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Jefferson Home of the Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Lenox Federated Church, 2610 Lenox-New Lyme Rd., Jefferson, Ohio 44047, or to Happy Hearts School, 2505 S. Ridge E., Kingsville, Ohio 44048.
A gathering of family and friends will be held immediately following the services on Monday at the Lenox Community Center.
Vera Urban
ROCK CREEK - Vera Urban, 83, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000 at the Montefiori Home in Beechwood, Ohio.
The daughter of George and Agafia Nicholes, she was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., May 19, 1917.
Mrs. Urban was a lifelong resident of the area, graduating from Rome High School in 1933. She worked at the Johnson Rubber Co. until she married Frank Urban May 31, 1947.
A homemaker, she enjoyed gardening, traveling, crocheting, was an avid reader, and especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
She is survived by three daughters, Sheryl A. Dukes of Troy, Mich., Diana Hydock of Jeddo, Pa., and Patricia L. Urban of Solon; a brother, Jake Nicholes of Orwell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband; and three brothers, Harry, Joseph, and Walter Nicholes.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Paine Funeral Home, 3119 W. Water St., Rock Creek.
Calling hours will 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday.

Fred Ronas
ROCK CREEK - Fred Ronas, 79, of Latimer Road, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at Grand Valley Country Manor, Windsor.
He was born Feb. 19, 1922, in Blue Island, Ill., the son of Fred and Caroline (Ohl) Ronas.
Mr. Ronas had been an area resident most of his life.
He was a graduate of Rock Creek High School and worked on the boats in the Ashtabula Harbor as a child.
Prior to his retirement in 1998, he worked 51 years as a shipping clerk for Sanborn Wire Products, Inc.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Marie (Curry); and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Ronas; a sister, Dorothy Wasselesion; a half-sister, Viola Lundstrom and his parents.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
No calling hours will be observed.

James Olin Dawson
ROCK CREEK - James Olin Dawson, 69, of Rock Creek, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001.
He was born Sept. 3, 1932, in Frostburg, Md., the son of William T. and Dorothy V. (Davies) Dawson.
Mr. Dawson served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired as a lieutenant from the Cumberland (Maryland) Fire Department after 30 years service and was an instructor of emergency medical services.
He was an avid walleye fisherman and held a private pilot's license.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Canfield of Hagerstown, Md., Lisa Dawson of Rock Creek, and Marlene Bishop of Cleveland; four brothers William, Gary, David, and Edward; one sister Dottie Lee; seven grandchildren Troy, Shaun, Vanessa, James, Jessica, Frankie and Little Jimmy; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter Jamie.
Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Paine-Simpson Funeral Home, 3119 W. Water St., Rock Creek, with the Rev. Betsy Schenk of the Plymouth United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery in Rock Creek.
Friends will be received by the family from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Nellie M. Norris
ROCK CREEK - Nellie M. Norris, 79, died Monday, June 4, 2001, at UHHS Memorial Hospital of Geneva.
Born July 4, 1921, in Newark, she was a daughter of Fred and Laura Mae (Lenn) Converse.
Mrs. Norris was a 37-year resident of Rock Creek. She also lived for a time in Rome Township and Newark. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking and gardening.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon A. Schreckengost of Jefferson and Laura M. Doll of Rock Creek; three sons, Rollin G. of Newbaugh, Ind., John T. of Dorset Township, and Stephen K. Norris of Madison; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rollin J., in January 1979; five sisters; and a brother.
Service is 2 p.m. Friday at the Paines-Simpson Funeral Home, 3119 W. Water St., Rock Creek. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Rock Creek.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Lillian C. Bowen
ROCK CREEK - Lillian C. Bowen, 91, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, at Village Square Nursing Home, Orwell.
Born Jan. 17, 1909, in Chardon, she was a daughter of Albert and Bertha (Rink) Clemson and had been a 61-year resident of Rock Creek.
Mrs. Bowen was a 1927 Chardon High School graduate and attended Rock Creek United Methodist Church as well as Grace Community Church, Smyrna Beach, Fla.
She was a former member of the Cleo Rebekah Lodge and was past president of Rock Creek Parent-Teacher Association.
She enjoyed shuffleboard, playing cards, and crocheting and was an avid reader.
Survivors include a son, Norman of Rock Creek; 10 grandchildren: Melodie Kane, Louise Bowen, Brenda Claycomb, Diane Blair, Ginny Gaynor, Kathie Williams, Gail Davis, Tom Bowen and Bill Martin; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Martin; her parents; two sisters: Naomi Petersen and Marian Boneham; and two brothers: Cecil T. and Lee A. Clemson.
Service is 3 p.m. Saturday at the chapel in Union Cemetery, Rock Creek, with Gordon Emerson, lay pastor of Jefferson United Methodist Church, officiating.
Calling hours are 1 p.m. until the time of service at the chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Union Cemetery Chapel Fund.
