Gayle E. Hasson
WAYNE TOWNSHIP - Gayle E. Hasson, 83, of Route 193, died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center. He was born May 1, 1919, in Wayne Township, the son of Paul and Marcia (Jones) Hasson.
Mr. Hasson was a lifelong Wayne Township resident and attended school in Wayne and was a member of the last class to graduate from the school in 1937.
He had one year of postgraduate work at Gustavus High School and one year at the Ashtabula Business School. He was a graduate of LaSalle Business School, by correspondence.
He was an accountant for the O&P Oil and Gas Co. in Andover, retiring in 1979. Prior to that, he worked for Lipps Brothers in Wayne for many years. He also upholstered furniture and had a pick-your-own-strawberry business at home.
Mr. Hasson was a member of the Wayne Congregational Church, where he held various offices like church trustee, Sunday School superintendent and church treasurer. He was also a member of the Wayne Historical Society.
He married Anna J. (Free) on July 17, 1949. He enjoyed fishing, golf cart rides and being with his family.
Mr. Hasson suffered from Post-Polio Syndrome, and it was his daily prayer that, by the example of his physical health, parents always would be aware of childhood immunizations and remember to have their children immunized from diseases.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Joann L. Knowles of Wayne Township; two grandsons, Jason and Michael Knowles of Wayne Township; two great-grandsons; and a brother, Randall Hasson of Chardon.
Service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect St., Andover. Burial will be at Hayes Cemetery in Wayne Township.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Esther L. Barone
PALMETTO, Fla. - Esther Lemponen Barone, 90, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at the home of longtime friend Joanne Adams with whom she had lived since August 2002.
She was born May 30, 1912, in Jefferson, the daughter of John and Johanna (Sammalma) Lemponen.
She married Pat Barone in 1933 and lived in Cleveland and Chardon before moving to Bradenton, Fla., where she resided for 40 years.
Surviving are a stepdaughter, Rose Marie Balogh of Chagrin Falls; several nieces, nephews and extended family in Ashtabula County.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992; a stepson, Clarence, in 1960; eight brothers, John, William, George, Earl, Rufus, Hubert, Russell and Ralph; three sisters, Emilia, Alma and Thelma.
Burial arrangements are being handled by the Griffith Cline Funeral Home of Bradenton. A celebration of life will be Wednesday at the Bradenton Castle Trailer Park with the Rev. Thomas Irwin of the United Methodist Church officiating.
Raymond Eugene Gaiser
WINDSOR TOWNSHIP - Raymond Eugene Gaiser, 68, a resident of Windsor, died on Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at the Geauga Hospital.
Born on September 1, 1934 in Butler, PA, he was the son of Wayne and Helen (McKissik) Gaiser.
Retired, Mr. Gaiser was the Fire and Safety Director of Metro Hospital of Cleveland and Director of Building and Grounds of Cleveland State University.
Survivors include children, Brian Gaiser, Beth Lee, Jennifer Pallone, Joel Gaiser, Jason Gaiser, Jonathan Gaiser, and Spouses; and 16 grandchildren; and brothers, Robert, Quay, and Gaylord Gaiser.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m. at Orwell North Cemetery on Friday (Today), August 1, 2003, with Pastor Mike Bucher officiating.

Homer E. Elwood
LOCKHART, S.C. - Homer E. Elwood Sr., 82, died Monday, March 31, 2003, at his home.
He was born in Colebrook, a son of the late Perry J. Elwood and Ruth (Hill) Elwood Hart.
Mr. Elwood was a co-owner of Union Tool and Stamping and inventor and patent holder of the L-WOOD wood heater. His memberships included Lockhart Masonic Lodge 244, Lockhart Senior Citizens Club, American Legion Post 76, the Hejaz Shrine Temple, and was a former scoutmaster of Lockhart Troop 45.
Mr. Elwood was a member of First Baptist Church of Lockhart. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Juanita L. Elwood; four daughters, Loree E. Yarborough of Chester, S.C., Marjorie Childers of Union, S.C., Bonnie Crocker of Gaffney, S.C., and Gina Harris of Lockhart, S.C.; a son, Homer E. Elwood Jr. of Laurens; nine grandchildren, Cecil L. Yarborough, Monica C. Vlock, Jason Childers, Kristin and Katelyn Crocker, Samantha and Jessica Harris, and Zachary and Hunter Elwood; and four great-grandchildren.
Service is 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Lockhart, 112 Mill St., Lockhart, S.C. Burial will be in Lockhart Cemetery.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Joseph Kish
LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Joseph Kish, 67 of Las Vegas, Nev., died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at the Odyssey Health Care in Las Vegas, Nev.
He was born Aug. 5, 1935 in Willoughby, the son of Paul and Mary (Toth) Kish.
Mr. Kish had been a Las Vegas, Nev., resident since 1979 and formerly of Painesville.
He retired from the Budget Rent A Car Co., in Las Vegas and served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Sue (McKinney) Kish of Las Vegas, Nev.; two brothers, Robert Kish of Painesville and John Kish of Jefferson; two sisters, Joyce Bell of Madison and Bonnie Peternil of Eastlake.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be Tuesday at the Veterans Memorial Chapel in Boulder City, Nev.

Hannah Quinn Palo
MISSION VIEJO, Calif. - Hannah Quinn Palo, 68, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002 at her home. Born June 27, 1934 in Conneaut, daughter of George and Veronica (Cantlin) Dusenbury.
She married Maurice "Skip" Palo Aug. 10, 1957. A devoted mother and grandmother, she gave an abundance of love and kindness to others.
Mrs. Palo also lived in Hudson, Ohio, Kansas City, Mo. and Denver, Colo.
She graduated from Conneaut High School in 1952 and from St. Mary's College in South Bend, Ind. in 1956.
She was past president of the Women's Council in California at St. Kilians Church.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Catherine Peterson of San Clemente, Calif.; a son, Micheal Palo of Mission Viejo, Calif. and seven grandchildren.
Service is Wednesday, at St. Kilian's Church in Mission Viejo, Cali. Burial will be in Ascension Cemetery in Lake Forest, Calif.
