Helen Jolliff Hilligas, 85, of Cadiz, died Monday, November 22, 2004 at Oak Hill Manor in Louisville, Ohio. She was born May 10, 1919 in Lewis Co., WV, a daughter of the late Friend B. and Lutie Howard Jolliff.
She was a member of the AARP, and was a retired employee of the Scio Pottery Co.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Scott C. Hilligas in 1967.
Surviving are cousins, Hazel Nicholson and Mary Graham of Canton; numerous other second and third cousins; her cousin and care giver, Charlene Smith of Louisville; and a special friend, Audrey Ferris of Cadiz.
Friends may call Friday from noon until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, 172 S. Main St., Cadiz, OH. Rev. Richard Hasley will officiate. Burial will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.

Barbara Jo Miller, 58, of Hopedale, died Saturday, November 13, 2004 at Trinity Medical Center, West, Steubenville. She was born October 24, 1946 in Wheeling, WV, a daughter of the late Oliver W. And Josephine Barrett Walls.
She was a retired Certified Medical Assistant in the Cleveland area, and attended St. James A.M.E. Church in Cadiz
Surviving are her husband, Holly L. Miller; a daughter, Kelly A. Banks and her husband Rob of Cadiz; a son William Busby and his wife, Katherine of Cleveland Hts., OH; 3 grandchildren: Misha Jones, Kayla Jones Bennett, and Shelly Jones; 3 great grandchildren: Jordan, Joenus and Rayla; a brother, Oliver (Buddy) Walls of Bluffton, SC; and two sisters, Nancy Cole of Bay Village, Ohio and Patty Demangone of Cadiz
Evelyn I. Wilson

Evelyn I. Wilson, 86, of Cadiz, died Friday, November 12, 2004 at her home. She was born Oct. 20, 1918, in Orrville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Greeley Dustin and Martha Elizabeth Petty Findling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clement L. Wilson in 1992; two brothers, Walter (Pete) and Ralph Findling; three sisters, Julia Byers, Susie Conrad, and Sally Myers; and a grandson, Kelly Wilson.
Surviving are three sons, Jerry and his wife, Marie, Ronald and his wife, Becky, and Charlie and his wife, Barb, all of Cadiz,; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 262, Cadiz, Ohio 43907.
Betty Lee Knisely

Betty Lee Knisely, 73, Cadiz, died Saturday, November 6, 2004 at Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, West Virginia. She was born June 23, 1931 in Pattons Run, Martins Ferry, Ohio a daughter of the late Andrew and Nettie Williams Carpenter.
She attended Asbury Chapel United Methodist Church, a former employee of Scio Pottery Company, a member of Hopedale American Legion Post #682 Auxiliary and Wheeling Aerie #344 F.O.E.
She was preceded in death in addition to her parents; by her husband Lester Sherman Porter in 1977; a grandson Paul Porter; a sister Mary Jane Carpenter; and 3 brothers: William, Daniel and Andrew Carpenter.
She is survived by 3 sons: Nick Carpenter of Cadiz, Ted Porter of Hopedale, and James Porter of Cadiz; 4 daughters: Nettie Smith, Debbie Wedlake, Vickie Porter, and Tina Colson all of Cadiz; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 3 sisters: Rose Sasak of Adena, Shirley Bariscka of Hartsville, South Carolina, and Martha Morgan of New Alexandria, Ohio; 4 brothers: John Carpenter of Holdredge, Nebraska, Robert Carpenter of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Alvin Carpenter of Wyoming; and Donald Carpenter of Smithfield, Ohio.
Calling hours are Wednesday, November 10, 3-5 and 7-9 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz where funeral service will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Hopedale, Ohio.

Margaret Lynn, 86, of Cadiz, died Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz. She was born February 16, 1918 in Orrville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Harvey and Alta Miller Gardner.
She was a member of the New Athens Presbyterian Church, and was a former Linotype Operator for the Cadiz Republican.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Lynn in 1995; a sister, Alice Hahn; and a brother, Howard Gardner.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Jane Washburn of Farmington, NM; two granddaughters, Amy Spiwak of Phoeniz, AZ and Jennifer Hawthorne of Farmington, NM; two great grandchildren, Kyler and Kailee Spiwak; a brother, Ralph Gardner; five sisters, Esther Oetzel, Bessie Towles and Miriam Antill, all of Orrville, Marie Abel of Cadiz, and Ruth Schlabach of Walnut Creek.

Edna L. Wade, 89, of Jewett, formerly of Steubenville, died Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at Trinity Medical Center, West, Steubenville, Ohio. She was born July 8, 1915 in Adena, Ohio, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dowdle.
She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of America.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Wade Sr. in 1977; and a brother and a sister, Bud and Sis.
Surviving are a son, Kenneth Wade, Jr. of Crumpton, MD and two sisters, Dorothy and Pat.
A private service was held at the convenience of the family at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz. Burial was in Ft. Steuben Burial Estates.

Allen L. Thompson

Allen L. Thompson, 66, of Jewett, formerly of Flushing and Piedmont, Ohio, died Sunday at Twin City Hospital, Dennison. He was born February 12, 1938 in Harrison County, Ohio, a son of the late Oscar and Bessie Carrothers Thompson.
He was a former Coal Miner with Consolidation Coal Company and attended the Nottingham Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Johnson.
Surviving are two sons, Terry Thompson of Prescott AZ and Jeffrey Thompson of Mesa, AZ; a daughter, Lisa Kavanagh of Chandler, AZ; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Alice Covert of Hollywood, FL, Virginia Ullrich of Rockford, IL, and Ella Perkins of Sherrodsville, OH.

Carolyn V. Ballog, 79, of New Athens, Ohio, died Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz. She was born November 17, 1925 in New Athens, a daughter of the late James W. and Mabel Augusta Cannon Watson.
She was a member of the New Athens United Methodist Church, where she was active with the United Methodist Women's Organization. She was also a member of Flushing Chapter 369, Order of the Eastern Star and the New Athens Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Richard Watson.
Surviving are her husband, Frank Ballog; two daughters, Diane and her husband, Floyd Culbertson of New Athens and Ronna and her husband, James Conter of Flushing; a son Frank Dennis and his wife, Diana Ballog of Cadiz; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother, Donald and his wife, Annabelle Watson; and a sister Jeanette and her husband, Wesley Nichols, all of New Athens.

Hilda L. Snyder, 74, of Hopedale, died December 24, 2004 at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz. She was born April 9, 1930 in Hopedale, a daughter of the late Robert and Martha Parks Kersey.
She was a former employee of the Carriage Inn of Cadiz.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Snyder in 1991; a son, Glenn, Jr.; a brother Robert Leroy Snyder; and a sister, Doris Ward.
Surviving are a daughter, Diana Grimes of Hopedale; a son, Michael Snyder of Barberton; 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Roberta Pratt of Hopedale, Janet Silvia of CA, Shirley Gross of New Philadelphia, and Sue Crisco of DE.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, with Dean Blythe officiating.

Frances L. White, 88, of Cadiz, died Saturday, December 18, 2004 at the home of her daughter in Zoarville, Ohio. She was born October 4, 1916 in Scio, Ohio, a daughter of the late James M. and Martha Boyles.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Cadiz, the Harrison County Grange, Farm Bureau, Cottage Industries, Extension Homemaker's Group, Geneological Society, AARP and Senior Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer White and a brother, James Stewart.
Surviving are her son Thomas amd his wife, Kim White of Cadiz; two daughters, Libby and her husband, John Toussant of Cincinnati and Marice Smith of Zoarville; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
A private service was held at the convenience of the family at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz.
