Stephen Molner
MARENO VALLEY, Calif. - Stephen Molner, 63, formerly of Conneaut, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at his home.
He was born March 22, 1939, in Detroit, the son of Stephen and Edna Mae (Fuller) Molner.
He had lived in California for the past 15 years. He also lived in Kent and in Liberty Township.
Mr. Molner retired from McDonnell Douglas Corp. as a quality assurance engineer. He was a 1958 graduate of Conneaut High School and then served with the U.S. Navy from 195862.
He received his bachelor of science degree in aerospace technology from Kent State University after completing his service with the Navy.
In his leisure, he enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include his wife, the former Linda Norton, to whom he had been married for the past 37 years; two daughters, Natali Schneider of North Lima, and Nadine Schuller of McDonald; a son, Scott Molner, also of McDonald; four grandchildren, Brad and Brittany Schneider, and Tori and Michael Schuller; and a sister, Nancy Ulrich of Ottumwa, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a stepfather, Joseph Pizzuto.
Service is 2 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, with the Rev. Larry Ulrich, brother-in-law of the deceased, officiating.
Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Katy M. Byler
WINDSOR TOWNSHIP - Katy Mae Byler, 17 months, of Huntley Road, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, of respiratory failure at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland.
She was born July 2, 2001, in Chardon, the daughter of John A. and Dorothy Byler.
Survivors include her parents; maternal grandparents, Joe and Anna Miller; and paternal grandparents, Andy and Esther Byler.
Service is 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Byler home, 6952 Huntley Road, Windsor Township, with Bishop David E. Miller officiating.
Burial is in Miller's Cemetery in Middlefield.
Friends may call anytime at the Byler home.

Shade Childers
MONROE TOWNSHIP - Shade Childers, 62, of Stanhope-Kelloggsville Road, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at UHHS Brown Memorial Hospital following an 11-year illness.
He was born Nov. 29, 1940, in Bevinsville, Floyd County, Ky., a son of Ted and Carrie (Cook) Childers.
A Monroe Township resident for the past 44 years, he retired from True Temper in 1983 and was a member of the Conneaut Church of God.
He liked horses, was a member of the Ashtabula County Wagon Train Club, and enjoyed logging with horses. He also enjoyed woodworking, being with his family, and providing transportation for his Amish neighbors.
Survivors include his wife, Carol (Foster); a daughter, April M. Childers of Conneaut; a son, John J. Childers of Saegertown, Pa.; a grandchild, Dakota S. Childers, also of Saegertown; a sister, Thelma G. Coffman of Ashtabula; and a brother, Johnny Childers of Pleasant Hope, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Burgis Hall, Mabel Hall, Julie Isaacs, and two sisters in infancy; and two brothers, Glennis Hall and Newborn Hall.
Service is 2 p.m. Thursday at the Conneaut Church of God, 5327 Center Road, Conneaut, with the Rev. Raymond L. Lamb officiating.
Burial will be in Kelloggsville Cemetery, Monroe Township.
Calling hours are noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Jean Porter
BROOKSVILLE, Fla. - Jean Porter, 87, died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, Fla.
She was born in Ashtabula and moved from Conneaut to Florida 26 years ago.
Mrs. Porter was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church, Brooksville.
Survivors include her husband, Charles; a daughter, Marilyn Burnatay of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a brother, Richard Brown of Bowling Green; sisters Katherine Dadey of Lake Mary, Fla., and Florence Dodge of Bakersfield, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by the National Cremation and Burial Society, Brooksville, Fla.
Wilbur E. Smith
WAUSEON - The Rev. Wilbur E. Smith Jr., 65, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at his home.
He was born June 22, 1937, in Ashtabula, to Wilbur and Florence (Ryder) Smith. He married Shirley Cadmes Oct. 26, 1956. She preceded him in death in 2001.
Mr. Smith was a schoolteacher in the Wauseon School District prior to his retirement. He was also an associate minister at Grace Bible Church in Defiance.
Survivors include a son, Kevin E. Smith of Bluffton, Ind.; a daughter, Mandy T. Boyers of Wauseon; seven grandchildren; a brother, Donald Matteson of Hemet, Calif.; and sisters Janet Wetherbee and Donna Stuper, both of Ashtabula.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church, 854 S. Shoop Ave., Wauseon, officiated by the Rev. John McKay. Interment will follow in the Wauseon Union Cemetery.
Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, 219 S. Fulton St., Wauseon.

Darla L. Barath
LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Darla L. Barath, 59, of Las Vegas, died Monday, April 1, 2202, at Mountainview Hospital, Las Vegas.
She was born April 9, 1942, in Cleveland, the daughter of John and Anna (Morvauchic) Barath.
She was a 1960 graduate of Grand Valley High School and attended Kent State University and was a graduate of Franklin University of Columbus.
She was a physical officer for the state of Ohio for 30 years, before retiring.
She was a member of Windsor United Methodist Church, Covered Bridge Chapter 591 Order of Eastern Star, Hartsgrove.
She enjoyed traveling, living in Las Vegas and loved her friends.
Survivors include her friend of 29 years, Kathleen (Betsy) Messer of Las Vegas; two brothers, Gary Barath of Windsor, and Joe Noton of St. Cloud, Minn.; and a sister, Monica Lake of New Lyme.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be 11 a.m., Friday at the Paine-Simpson Funeral Home, 140 East Main St., Orwell, with the Rev. Jeffrey Fatica, of the Windsor United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Windsor Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
