Nunziato C. Aloi
PAINESVILLE - Nunziato C. Aloi, 81, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at the Lake-Med Rehabilitation Center in Painesville.
He was born Aug. 27, 1921, in Sicily, Italy. He was a Lake County resident for 51 years and also lived in Punta Gorda, Fla. Mr. Aloi was a former Cleveland resident and married Loretta Bryan Dec. 3, 2000.
Mr. Aloi served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the European Theater. He retired as an operator for the Calhio Chemical Company in Perry.
He was a trustee of the Lakeside Baptist Church in Painesville, and was past commander of the former Perry American Legion.
Mr. Aloi was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.
Survivors include his wife; daughters Mariellen Haak of Andover, Christina Strang of Painesville and Nunciata Tenney of Perry; brothers Tony Aloi of Cleveland and John Aloi of Starford, Pa.; sisters Carmella Kanyan of Coral, Pa., and Mary Sabo of Newton Falls; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, granddaughter and previous wife.
Service is 11 a.m. Friday, at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 312 Eagle St., Fairport Harbor, officiated by the Rev. Arlie Spargur of the Lakeside Baptist Church. Burial will be in Madison Memorial Cemetery, Madison Township.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in care of the family.
Freda M. Couhig
PAINESVILLE TOWNSHIP - Freda Marie Couhig, 55, of Painesville Township, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at Lake Hospital Systems in Painesville.
She was born March 22, 1947, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Joseph and Julia Nappi, and had been a township resident for 20 years.
She was a 1965 graduate of St. John High School in Ashtabula and a 1970 graduate of Mercyhurst College in Erie, where she received a teaching degree.
She was a teacher at Sunview Elementary School in Lyndhurst, St. Gabriel Elementary in Concord Township, Montessori School for Children in Willoughby and Mentor, and the Madison Avenue Elementary School in Painesville Township.
She also provided individual tutoring services during her professional career.
She was a member of St. Mary Church in Painesville and enjoyed gardening, walking, reading, her dog and spending time with family.
Survivors include her parents; her husband of 32 years, Tom; and a son, Thomas N. (T.C.) Couhig, of Cleveland.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Church, 242 N. State St., Painesville. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Ashtabula.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brunner Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.

Wayland H. Stevens
PAINESVILLE - Wayland H. Stevens, 90, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, at Mentor Way Care.
He was born Nov. 3, 1911 in Pierpont.
Mr. Stevens was a member of First Church, Congregational in Painesville and Painesville Elks #549 BPOE.
He was the retired owner of Painesville Welding and Cutting. He had also been employed at Lake Erie College and Citizens Financial.
Survivors include son Douglas of Broadview Heights; daughter Beverly Mack of New London, Pa.; and grandchildren Tricia, Brad, Derrick, Hannah, Heather, Darren, and Stephanie.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lydia Feb. 2, 2001, sister Louise, and brother Ted.
Funeral is 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville, officiated by Dr. John P. Davis III of First Church, Congregational. Calling hours are 1-3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial is in Montville Cemetery.
Milford A. Campbell
PAINESVILLE - Milford A. "Sandy" Campbell, 51, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at Lake Hospital Painesville.
He was born July 16, 1950, in Painesville, to Milford A. and Doris J. Campbell. He was a lifelong Painesville resident.
Mr. Campbell was a 1968 graduate of Riverside High School. He served in the U.S. Army 1969-1971.
He was a manager at BP Oil Co.'s Richmond and Erie Street location in Painesville for the past four years. Prior to that, he was union steward at Sawyer Research in Eastlake for 25 years.
Mr. Campbell spent his Saturday nights at Painesville Speedway as pit crew chief for his brother John 00. He was a founding member of Lake County Women's Softball League, where he was a manager and umpire for the pigtail and ponytail league. He bowled at the former Mar-Val Lanes in Painesville.
He loved spending time with this children and his granddaughter.
Survivors include daughter Susan Marie Campbell of Howland; son Steven Alex Campbell of Howland; granddaughter Samantha Marie Campbell; mother Doris J. Campbell of Painesville Township; brothers John E. Campbell of Concord Township, Claud D. Campbell of Painesville, Danial E. Campbell of Painesville Township; and former wife Gloria Campbell of Howland.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brunner-Nixon Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 176 N. State St., Painesville. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial in Riverside Cemetery, Painesville.

Thelma L. Mackey
PAINESVILLE - Thelma L. Mackey, 87, of Painesville, died Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at Lake Med Nursing Home.
She was born Aug. 22, 1913, in Fairport Harbor, where she lived most of her life until she moved to Roaming Shores and then to Painesville in 1988.
She worked as a bookeeper for the former Neal Printing Co. in Fairport Harbor and at the Lake County Recorders office as a clerk. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband, Cal; two daughters, Jeannette Reeves of Ostrander, Ohio, and Dane (Sandra) Mackey of Leroy; 10 grandchildren, Chad Reeves, Jill Remington, Christine Raines, Deena Scouloukas, Jim, Jason, Jeff and Jessica Takacs, Mary Hummel and Jennifer Hubbard; and 12 great-grandchildren; and a half sister, Coletta Hitzel of Mentor.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jane Takacs; an infant son, Carl David Mackey; a brother, Harold Wolff; and a half sister, Rita Pesano.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 325 Sixth St., Fairport Harbor, with the Rev. Donald Tompkins officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Painesville.
Friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at the church.
Contributions may be made in her memory to Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Michael S. Gregory Sr.
PAINESVILLE - Michael S. Gregory Sr., 64, died Friday, March 16, 2001, at Lake West Hospital.
Born March 6, 1937, in Corning, Ark., he was a son of William R. Gregory and Vivian L. Gregory. He had lived in Eastlake for the past seven years and lived previously in Milwaukee, Wis. for eight years and in the Painesville area.
He was employed at Allen-Bradley in Highland Heights for 29 years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of American Legion Post 0128 in Indian Rock Beach, Fla.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Gregory Jr. of Eastlake, Brian Gregory of Painesville and Steven Gregory of Madison; one granddaughter, Alexandria; one brother, William Gregory of Belleair Beach, Fla.; and three sisters, Helen Poley of Imperial, Mo., Laura Schneider of Warrenton, Mo. and Martha Jean Brown of St. Louis, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Potti Funeral Home, 1009 Mentor Ave., Painesville. The Rev. Robert Gaston will officiate.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
