Elizabeth Bludau
PAINESVILLE - Elizabeth Bludau, 91, a resident of Painesville for 56 years, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at Lake Medical Rehabilitation Center in Painesville.
Born June 24, 1911, in Chauncey, she lived in Akron before moving to Painesville. She was a member of the Painesville United Methodist Church and the Rebecca Circle. She enjoyed gardening, baking and bridge.
Mrs. Bludau volunteered for the Meals on Wheels program and the American Cancer Society.
Survivors include a son, Ronald R. of Painesville; daughters, Bettisue Juzna and Marleen Rady, both of Painesville; a sister, Hazel Habens of Washington Court House; six grandchildren, Frank R. Juzna, Valerie Juzna, Barbara Juzna-Cruz, Todd Rady, William S. Rady and Christine Rady; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, in 1952, and 11 brothers and sisters.
Service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church of Painesville, 71 N. Park Place, with the Rev. Gerald D. Kalb officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of the church.
Ralph E. Mattice
PAINESVILLE - Ralph E. Mattice, 67, of Linden Drive, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003.
He was born July 24, 1935, in Concord, the son of Ralph and AIta (Bishop) Mattice.
A lifelong area resident, Mr. Mattice was a graduate of Perry High School. He worked more than 17 years for Avery Denison prior to his retirement in 1996. Mr. Mattice was an Army veteran, serving stateside and in Germany from 1955 to 1957. He enjoyed camping, fishing and his dog, Casey.
Survivors include a son, Paul, of Painesville; two stepchildren, Jacqueline Ellis of Geneva and Victor O'Donovan of Cleveland; six grandchildren, Avery, Mark, Michael, Joshua, Billy and Kelly; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Anne Panzarella of Glendale, Ariz., Louise Ladd of Mesa, Ariz., and Norma Jean Dake of Phoenix, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Mattice, on Nov. 13, 1976; a sister, Bernice Mattice; and his parents.
Service will be 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula. David Lepard will officiate. Burial will be Wednesday in Rest Haven Park, Glendale, Ariz., where a graveside service and military honors will take place.
Calling hours will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Ward W. Simons
PAINESVILLE - Ward W. Simons, 63, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at the home of his daughter, Susan, in Madison.
Born Jan. 3, 1938, in French Creek, W. Va., he was a son of Sanford Riley and Goldy (Lemons) Simons. He lived in Painesville since 1947.
He married Virginia Kirk Aug. 8, 1996.
He retired in 2000 as a welder for the Meyers Product Co. in Euclid, after working there for 14 years. He was previously employed by the former Caterpillar Co, . and C.E.Tyler Co., both in Mentor.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 2278 in Painesville and the Sons of the American Legion, Squad 336 in Painesville.
Survivors include his wife; one son, William of Frostburg, Md.; two daughters, Susan Shelton of Madison and Cynthia Trench of Painesville; two step-daughters, Debbie Lefelhoc of Leroy and Denise Dietz of Chardon; his former wife, Lydia Lewis of Columbus; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild, Keith Neilson; two brothers, Kenneth Simons and Denver Brady, both of Painesville; and three sisters, Roberta Davis of Ashtabula, Ardyth Palmer and Eunita Hickman, both of Painesville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Rueben Brady and Willard, Hartsell, and Myron Simons; three sisters, Lillian Loudin, Lois Tenney and Opal Killenberger; and two grandchildren, Rachael and Morgan Simons.
Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Spear-Mulqueeney Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville. The Rev. James Porostosky of the Lakeshore Assembly of God Church in Mentor will officiate.
Burial will be in Perry Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Theodore Harvey
PAINESVILLE - Theodore Harvey, 73, of Painesville, died Wednesday, April 3, 2002, at Lake East Hospital in Painesville.
He was born Jan. 20, 1929, in Coalton, W. Va.
He worked at I.R.C. Fibers in Painesville, Dasher Rubber Co., and also was employed as a security guard.
He served in the Army during the Korean War.
He loved his cat "Punky, " and country and western music.
Survivors include daughters Michelle Hall of Painesville, and Gail Sinclair of Mentor; sons Ted and Bill of Painesville; six grandchildren; a sister, Wilda of Michigan; and brothers Leonard of Chardon, Norbert of West Virginia, Dale of Painesville, and Chuck of Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine; a daughter, Loretta James; and brothers Jerry and Francis.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville. Burial will be at Perry Cemetery.
Calling hour is 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home until time of service.

Vereda Iona Atkins
PAINESVILLE - Vereda Iona Atkins, 70, died Sunday, August 3, 2003, at her residence in Painesville.
Born on October 28, 1932, in Hicksville, Ohio, she was the daughter of Oscar and Gladys T. (Kisabeth) Maier. Mrs. Atkins had been a Painesville resident for most of her life.
She graduated from Thomas W. Harvey High School in 1950 and was employed as an office worker for the Geauga Times Leaders during the 1970s.
She was a member of the Calvary Fellowship Baptist Church in Painesville and served as a volunteer for the Hospice of The Western Reserve for the past twenty years.
Vereda, a born-again Christian, devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She exemplified her Christian beliefs by helping others in need.
Survivors include her husband, Ruble, whom she married on May 1, 1976; two sons, Reverend Rick (Shirley) Armstrong of Antioch, CA, and Mark Armstrong of Lakeland, FL; three daughters, Sharon (Bob) Fisher of Mentor, LuAnn (Jerry) Busch and Teresa (John) Buckman, both of Geneva; twelve grandchildren, Craig and Kelly Fisher, Nathan, Jason, Seth, Lydia and Philip Armstrong, Eric, Brian and Kevin Buckman, Lyndsey Busch and Christopher Armstrong; one stepson, Allen Lee Atkins of Woodland, TX; three stepdaughters, Geraldine (Ron) Fieth of Kirtland, Mary McDonald of Smithville, TN, and Kathy (Jim) Maxwell of Mentor; two brothers, Daryl (Sandy) Maier of Columbus, GA, and Melvin Maier of Painesville; two sisters, Leona (Steve) Tirpak and Thelma (Ray) Whitely, both of Painesville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Marvin and Gerald Levonne Maier.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, August 6, 2003, at 1:00 p.m. at the SPEAR-MULQUEENY FUNERAL HOME, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville. Her son, Reverend Rick Armstrong and Reverend Douglas Reeder will officiate the services.
Callings Hours will be today, August 5, 2003, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Painesville.

Howard A. Justinger
PAINESVILLE TOWNSHIP - Howard A. Justinger Sr., 61, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002 at his residence.
He was born April 9, 1941 in Painesville. He was a former Grand River resident.
Mr. Justinger was a glass fabricator at Quartz Scientific in Fairport, retiring last month. He was an avid bowler. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2595 in Painesville and Post 7754 in Fairport.
Survivors include daughters Theresa Lee of Southhaven, Miss., Victoria Hogya of Painesville and Jennifer Lemponen of Ashtabula; son Howard Justinger Jr. of Painesville; grandchildren Justin, Brianna, Brooke, Jareth, Jacob and Mitchell; brother Victor Justinger; and sister Mary James.
He was preceded in death by his wife Frances in August; brothers Dallas and Joseph Justinger; and sisters Anna Rudloff, Ruth Mattice and Alta Mighton.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday at Brunner Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Internment is in Perry Cemetery, Perry.
Family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
