Donald L. Morgan
PAINESVILLE - Donald L. Morgan, 77, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at LakeEast Hospital in Painesville.
Born Jan. 12, 1925, in Cleveland, he was the son of Henry and Hilda (Fiddes) Morgan.
A graduate of Collinwood High School, he attended John Carroll University in Cleveland.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he served in the Pacific Theater in Guam and Okinawa during World War II. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7754 in Fairport Harbor.
A retired supervisor for the former Ohio Rubber Co. in Willoughby, Mr. Morgan lived in Painesville for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Hungarian Culture Club of Fairport Harbor.
He attended the Lakeshore Assembly of God Church in Mentor.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley M. (Whitt), whom he married Sept. 3, 1977; a son, Kent of Painesville; a daughter, Karen Rachten of Cleveland; a stepson, Melvin Reed of Painesville; two stepdaughters, Sandra Reed of Painesville and Marsha Martin of Geneva; a brother, William of Euclid; a sister, Norma Happ of Twinsburg; three grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville, with the Rev. James Porostosky, of the Lakeshore Assembly of God Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Erma L. King
PAINESVILLE - Erma Louise King, 82, formerly of Madison, died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at LakeMed Rehabilitation Center in Painesville Township.
Mrs. King was born Oct. 3, 1919, in Elba, Ohio.
Survivors include her two sons, Dale King of Painesville and Gary King of West Springfield, Pa.; two grandchildren, Sherri Jastrzembski and Gary Lynn King Jr.; two great-grandsons, Frankie and Joseph Jastrzembski; four sisters, Betty Smith of Marietta, Lillian Stalmaker of Pomeroy, and Virginia Stack and Agnes Stack, both of Florida; and a brother, Burl Stack of Marietta, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, in 1986.
Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at Potti Funeral Home, 2726 Hubbard Road, Route 528, Madison.
Burial will be in Madison Memorial Cemetery, Madison.

Cindee Lee Laing
PAINESVILLE - Cindee Lee Laing, 44, of Painesville, died Monday, May 27, 2002, of injuries suffered in a traffic accident on Route 2 in Willoughby.
She was born March 21, 1958, in Willoughby, and was a lifelong Painesville area resident.
She worked as a veterinarian assistant.
She was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous in Painesville and the Community of Christ Church. She enjoyed camping, horseback riding, art, bicycling and spending time with her sons. She also loved animals.
Survivors include two sons, Sean and Greg Laing, both of Saybrook; her mother, Joy (Eckart) Lawrence of Austinburg; her stepfather, Bill Lawrence of Austinburg; a sister, Danya Pogozelski of Madison; two step-sisters, Dawn Hilscher of Mentor, and Lynn Rodgers of Houston, Texas; and two step-brothers, John Lawrence and Wayne Lawrence, both of Mentor.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Halbert.
A memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Community of Christ Church, 9045 Chillicothe Road, Kirtland. David Cool, church eldery, will officiate.
There will be no calling hours.

Edith C. Sidley
PAINESVILLE - Edith C. Sidley, 97, of Painesville, died Tuesday, October 21, 2003, at the Lake East Hospital in Painesville.
Born on May 1, 1906, in Doland, South Dakota, she was the daughter of Alfred R. and Minnie (Wolverton) Cooper. She was a 50-year resident of Painesville and was formerly of the Thompson and Madison areas.
Mrs. Sidley taught school in the last one-room schoolhouse in Geauga County. She retired in 1933. Along with her husband, she was the co-founder of R.W. Sidley Inc., in 1938. In 1988, she was honored as the woman of the year in Thompson.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Painesville, a charter member of the Christ Child Society of Lake County, Needles and Chatterers Sewing Circle in Madison, and a former member of the Madison Library Board.
Survivors include three sons, Robert (Polly) Sidley and Joseph (Virginia) Sidley, both of Painesville, and Arthur (Patricia) Sidley of Concord; two daughters, Carolyn (Raymond) Martin of Concord, and Janice Sidley of Mentor; one sister, Winifred Cavanagh of Painesville; 15 grandchildren, Robert P. (Sandra) Sidley, Michael Sidley, Francis (Erica) Martin, Ellen (Kelly) Kooser, Bob (Bev) Buescher, Carolyn (Richard) Woodham, Al (Christy) Buescher, Janny (Shane) Sims, Jackie (John) Wilson, Bridget Buescher, Beth (Al) Safick, Kathy (Bobby) Parks, Christy (Todd) Crouch, Jeff Sidley, and Kelly (Dr. Adam) Sidley-Wollowick; and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Sidley, in 1961; her parents; two sisters; and five brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2003, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 242 North State Street, Painesville. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Painesville.
Calling Hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on today, October 23, 2003, and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2003, at the SPEAR–MULQUEENY FUNERAL HOME, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, OH 44077.

James D. Melnyk
PAINESVILLE – James D. Melnyk, 66, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at Lake East Hospital.
He was born May 18, 1936, in Wendall, W.Va., the son of Mike and Pearl (Caplinger) Melnyk.
A resident of Painesville for many years, Mr. Melnyk retired in 1995 as chief operator for the Water Pollution Plant, in the City of Painesville.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Little Mountain Free Trappers Club. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary J. (Gianconia) Melnyk; a son, Mike Melnyk of Painesville; two daughters, Denise Kovach of Painesville and Diane Melnyk of Canton; a sister, Patricia Davis of Geneva; three grandchildren, Samuel James Melnyk, Michael James and Hannah Rose Kovach.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 242 N. State St., Painesville.
Calling hours will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville.

William J. McNamara
PAINESVILLE - William J. McNamara, 86, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002.
He had been a longtime resident of Oak Park, Ill., before moving to Painesville.
A graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Notre Dame Law School, Mr. McNamara had law offices in Oak Park and was, at one time, president of the West Suburban Bar Association.
He was an active member in his parish churches, St. Gabriel's in Ohio and Ascension Parish in Illinois. He had a very string devotion to the Sacred Heart.
Survivors include daughters Anne McNamara of Ohio and Mary Lou Kuzdas of Wisconsin; and grandchildren Sean Kuzdas, Brian Kuzdas and Conor Kuzdas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, P. Joseph and Gertrude (Miller) McNamara; and family members Marie and Jack McMahon, Walter F. McNamara, Phillip J. McNamara, Hugh and Kaye O'Rourke, Patrick J. McNamara, Louise O'Rourke McNamara, Robbie Logan McNamara and Ruth McGregor McNamara.
Service will be noon Thursday at the Ahern Funeral Home (sign says Peterson Funeral Home), 6938 W. North St., Chicago. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hinsdale, Ill.
Calling hours will be 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the funeral home.
