Albert F. Validzich
FAIRPORT HARBOR - Albert F. “Al Val” Validzich, 81, died Friday, March 30, 2001, at the Heather Hill Hospital Health and Care Center in Chardon.
He was born May 6, 1919, in Ashtabula and was a longtime Fairport Harbor resident, and formerly of Farrell, Pa. He married Lillian L. Kish on May 9, 1946.
Mr. Validzich worked as a foreman at Diamond Shamrock until it closed in 1976 and then worked as a labor supervisor for several construction companies.
He served aboard the U.S.S. Medusa, participating in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church; was the past president of the Hungarian Culture Club; life member of VFW Post 7754 and the Fairport Slovenian Club, all in Fairport Harbor and the Croatian Lodge in Pennsylvania.
Mr. Validzich was an avid bowler.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Albert Validzich of Fairport Harbor; a daughter, Frances Messina of Wheatland, Pa., and seven nieces and four nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 521 Plum Street, Fairport Harbor with the Rev. Peter Mihalic officiating.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Mulqueeny-Spear Funeral Home, 312 Eagle St., Fairport Harbor.
Graveside Memorial service will be held at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Painesville.
Contributions may be made to the St. Anthony Church Building Fund or to the family.
Frank Nagy Jr.
CENTERVILLE - Frank Nagy Jr., 90, died Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at the Manor Care Nursing Home in Centerville.
He was born Feb. 10, 1911, in Fairport Harbor, the son of Frank and Julianna (Haraszi) Nagy.
Mr. Nagy attended Fairport Harding High School. He worked for the U. S. Steel Corp., beginning in 1928 as a messenger with the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Dock Co. in Fairport Harbor, retiring in 1975, as the purchasing agent and assistant treasurer of the Pittsburgh and Conneaut Dock Co., in Conneaut.
He was an avid stamp and coin collector and prolific gardener. Mr. Nagy was a member of the Kiwanis Club, Masonic Orders, Fairport Harbor Hungarian Reformed Church.
Survivors include his wife, Esther (Oris) whom he celebrated 62 years of marriage on July 4, 2001; two sons, Thomas W. of Tampa, Fla., Frank III of Centerville; five grandchildren, Deborah Teitelbaum of Milwaukee, Wis., Karen Nagy of Columbus, Frank Nagy IV of Indianapolis, Ind., Michelle Nagy of Milwaukee, Wis., Sarah Nagy of Tampa, Fla.; five great-grandchildren; two-step-grandchildren, Brian Kohen of Atlanta, Ga., Kevin Kohen of Dayton; two step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Papay and Helen Ritari both of Painesville.
Service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Hungarian Reformed Church, 601 Plum St., Fairport Harbor, with the Rev. Louis Medgyesi officiating.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Painesville.
Calling hours will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Mulqueeney-Spear Funeral Home, 312 Eagle St., Fairport Harbor.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of the Hungarian Reformed Church in Fairport Harbor.
W. Todd Gramley
FAIRPORT HARBOR - W. Todd Gramley, 47, of Joughin St., died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at his home.6_13_Gramley_eps
He was born October 21, 1955, in Ashtabula, the son of William B. and Dorothy (Lehtinen) Gramley. He was a 1974 graduate of Edgewood High School and worked as a project manager for Norstan and previously for BP.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served from 1974 to 1980, earning a letter of commendation while stationed aboard the USS England in the Indian Ocean.
A huge Cleveland Browns fan, he loved the Three Stooges and his Samoyed dogs. He enjoyed boating, golfing, and the outdoors. Mr. Gramley was a handy person who loved to build and fix things. He also enjoyed sand volleyball, playing the harmonica, and sushi.
His survivors include his wife, Christine (Staso), whom he married July 4, 1998; two twin daughters, Jessica H. and Shannon K. Gramley, both of Akron; the mother of his daughters, Merri Beth (Northrup) Gramley of Ashtabula; one son, Ryan Biats of Fairport Harbor; two sisters, Julie Gramley and Kathy "Hopsie" Lines, both of Ashtabula; and three brothers, Bruce Gramley of Kingsville, Scott Gramley of Willoughby, and Wade Gramley of Raleigh, NC.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, J. Russell Morris, on June 20, 1999; and his parents.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2003, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 4901 Main Avenue, Ashtabula. Mother Barbara Johnson, Rector, will preside. Inurnment will take place in the St. Peter's Episcopal Church Columbarium.
Calling hours will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
George V. Olle
FAIRPORT HARBOR - George V. Olle, 91, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at LakeMed Nursing Home in Painesville.
Mr. Olle was born Sept. 23, 1911, in Conneaut, the son of John and Ida Olle.
He was a plant superintendent at Diamond Shamrock, retiring after 40 years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fairport Harbor, where he served on the church council for many years.
Mr. Olle also was on Fairport Harbor Village Council, Fairport Harbor School Board and the Lake County Planning Commission.
Survivors include his daughter, Carolyn Heuer of Mentor; a grandson, Clayton Heuer, also of Mentor; and a sister, Florence Wainio of Allen Park, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ina Olle, in 1983; four brothers, Matt, Ted, Art and Elmer Olle; five sisters, Sue Harza, Mayme Fisher, Ida Olle, Saima Haglund and Allie Richard.
Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church, 508 Eagle St., Fairport Harbor. The Rev. Hannu Vepsalainen will officiate.
Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Fairport Harbor.
Memorial contributions may be made to the property acquisition fund of the Zion Lutheran Church.

Dora E. Suomela
FAIRPORT HARBOR - Dora E. Suomela, 86, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at Lake East Hospital.
She was born Nov. 6, 1916, in Fairport Harbor, to Jacob and Ksenia (Kontianen) Suomela. She lived in Fairport Harbor all her life.
Ms. Suomela graduated from Harding High School in 1934.
She retired in 1983 from the Diamond Shamrock Corp, where she worked in various offices and departments for more than 40 years.
Ms. Suomela was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Senior Citizens in Fairport Harbor.
Survivors include niece Judith McPherson of Fairport Harbor; grandnephews Scott McPherson of Fairport Harbor and John McPherson of Warren; and grandniece Heather Tobias of North Kingsville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Carl Finley and sister Edna Lallathin.
Service is 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, 504 Eagle St., Fairport Harbor, officiated by the Rev. Hannu Vepsalainen. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Painesville.
Calling hours are 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
Contributions may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.

Beverly J. Steele
FAIRPORT HARBOR - Beverly J. Steele, 67, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at Lake West Hospital in Willoughby.
She was born May 23, 1933, in Cleveland, the daughter of Harry and Adelle Huffman, and moved to Fairport Harbor from Willoughby two years ago.
She was a 1951 Willoughby Union High School graduate, and enjoyed golf and bowling with her husband.
Survivors include her husband, Willard A., whom she married 49 years ago; a son, Jeffery Scott of Ashtabula; a daughter, Karen Lynn Steele of Fairport Harbor; a twin brother, Bert Huffman; grandchildren: Meagan Steele and Tyler Corpening; and a sister, Gladys Cola of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Willard A. Jr., in 1987; and a sister, Grace Spice.
Service is 1 p.m. Saturday at Davis Trust 100 Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby. The Rev. Robert A. Gaston, chaplain of Lake Hospital System, will officiate. Burial will be at Whitehaven Memorial Park in Mayfield.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
