Helen M. Casselman
MENTOR - Helen M. Casselman, 70, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at LakeWest Hospital, Willoughby, of an apparent heart attack
Born June 28, 1931m in Geneva, she was the daughter of Edward and Charlotte (Chapman) Hanneman and had lived in Mentor since 1979.
A housewife and mother, she was always helping others. Sher nursed her husband and brother in their illnesses and excelled as a seamstress and in running an efficient home including the art of coupon shopping. She had a good sense of humour and was a trooper during medical problems for the past year, while keeping an upbeat attitude for those around her.
Survivors include a daughter, Lauri Casselman of Mentor; two sons, Richard A. of Painesville and James E. of Mentor; and two sisters, Margaret Dennison of Mentor and Barbara Schultz of South Euclid.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Daniels in 1999; a daughter, Mary Ellen Murgatroyd in 1989; a sister, Jeanne Searle; and a brother, Bob Hanneman.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Behm Family Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva, officiated by the Rev. Hugh Hookway of Geneva First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Geneva.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mary J. Hummel
MENTOR Former Madison resident Mary Jane Hummel, 85, died Wednesday, Feb. 6., 2002, at Mentor Way Care Nursing Home.
She was born Aug. 1, 1916, in Cleveland, the daughter of Gilbert and Mary Alice Hummel.
She was employed by IRC Fibers Corp., Painesville.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Carl and Donald Hummel; and a sister, Betty Baker.
Graveside service is 1 p.m. Monday at Fairview Cemetery, Madison, with the Rev. Luigi Miola of Immaculate Conception Church, Madison Township, officiating.
Potti Funeral Home, 2726 Hubbard Road, Madison Township, has charge of the arrangements.
Donald S. Woodard
MENTOR - Donald S. Woodard, 86, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at LakeWest Hospital, Willoughby.
Born April 1, 1915, in Euclid, he was the son of Frank and Bessie Woodward.
Mr. Woodard formerly lived in Kirtland and was a direct descendent of Mayflower passengers John Alden and Priscilla Mullins.
He was a partner of Rode, Kaplan, Curtis and Woodard Architectural firm, Beachwood. Mr. Woodard graduated from Western Reserve in 1949, with a degree in architecture as well as the Institute of Art.
He worked on many churches, the first building at Cleveland Airport, Library Tower at Cleveland State University, and the steeple of Old South Church, Kirtland.
Mr. Woodard served a director of Cleveland Chapter CSI, was a member of the American Institute of Architecture, Ohio Practice of Architects, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Willoughby.
He was first lieutenant in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving as a tank commander with General Patton. He was wounded, receiving the Purple Heart.
Mr. Woodard enjoyed golf, fishing in Canada, and photography and won prizes at Western Reserve Camera Club. He also was an avid reader of Civil War and wrote and photographed a book on covered bridges.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Dorotha; a daughter, Anita Jo Leair of Lyndhurst; a son, Dennis Woodard of Ashtabula; seven grandchildren, Susan, Mark, Leair and Martin Woodard, Aric, Carl and Alex Anderson; three stepchildren, Ann Dumont of Mentor, Jonathan Whitworth of Eastlake, and Albert Whitworth of Pleasanton, Calif.; six step-grandchildren, Richard Dumont, Jennifer Dumont and Alan Dumont, Christopher and Grace Whitworth and Michelle Whitworth; two step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Miller of Willoughby, and Jeanette Queirn of Atlanta, Ga.; and a brother, Robert of Signal Mountain, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Service is 3:30 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, Willoughby, 4785 Shanklin Blvd., Willoughby. Inurnment will be in South Kirtland Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church organ fund or the building fund of First Presbyterian Church of Willoughby.

Margaret A. Gatzko
MENTOR - Margaret A. Gatzko, 95, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at her daughter's home in Mentor.
She was born April 11, 1906, in Johnstown, Pa., to Louis and Catherine (Kohler) Yuhas. She married Edward Frank Gatzko in Geneva Nov. 9, 1922. She lived in Geneva 25 years, then 10 years in Euclid and five years in Mentor.
Mrs. Gatzko was a homemaker. She enjoyed her family, gardening, interior decorating, cooking and needlework.
Survivors include daughter Charlotte Zupancic of Mentor; grandchildren Janet, Melanie, Marleen, Laurie and Clifford; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982; daughters Violet Kramer and Janet Gatzko; and her parents.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva, officiated by the Rev. Larry Wade of Park Street Christian Church, Geneva. Calling hours will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Geneva.

Gertrude S. Franko
MENTOR - Gertrude S. Franko, 76, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002. She was born Feb. 6, 1926, in Mentor, the daughter of Sigurd and Signette (Simonsen) Stromme.
Mrs. Franko was a lifetime area resident, a bookkeeper for the Mentor K-Mart from 1973 to 1978 and a librarian for St. Mary and St. Gabriel schools.
She was a member of the Painesville Y.M.C.A. and the Painesville Senior Center.
Survivors include her husband, David A. Franko, whom she married on May 3, 1947; one son, David M. Franko of Painesville; two daughters, Cathy Zimmerman of Madison and Donna Novak of Painesville Township; one brother, Robert Stromme of North Carolina; one sister, Ann Hanks of Geneva; five granddaughters, Jennifer, Lisa, Melissa, Megan and Heather; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Sigurd Stromme.
Service is 1 p.m. Tuesday, at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville. Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mentor Cemetery.

Eric Wallingford
MENTOR - Former Geneva resident Eric Wallingford, 32, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001.
He was born March 9, 1969, in Buffalo, N.Y., the son of Sam and Kathleen Wallingford.
He was a cook at Bumpers, formerly Key W. Kools, in Mentor. He attended Geneva High School and Lakeland Community College.
He was an avid Browns and Indians fan and enjoyed fishing and music.
Survivors include his mother of Geneva; his father; two sisters, Elise and Samantha Wallingford of Santa Monica, Calif.; and a brother, Lucas of Geneva.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Elise Yeates; grandfather Robert Sullivan; and grandparents Irene and Douglas Wallingford.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Brunner-Nixon Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 176 N. State St., Painesville.
