MADISON - David Wayne Piercy, 41, of Madison, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at LakeEast Hospital, Painesville.
He was born Jan. 13, 1961, in Painesville, the son of Dallas and Beatrice (Mason) Piercy.
Survivors include his father of Willoughby; his mother of Florida; a half-sister, Donna Luciani of Willoughby; and a half-brother, Donald Piercy of Clarkston, Mich.
Service is 10 a.m. Saturday at Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison. The Rev. Jay Schmidt of the Central Congregational Church, Madison, will officiate. Burial will be in Madison Memorial Cemetery.
Calling hours are 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Sophie Frances Zall
CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Former Madison resident Sophie Frances Zall, 74, died Tuesday Oct. 9, 2001 at her homr in Cape Coral.
Born April, 29, 1927, in Cleveland, she was the daughter of Frank and Josephine (Pausic) Kostelic and had lived in Cape Coral since 1980.
A homemaker, she love baking and spending time with her family.
Survivors include three daughters, Judith Brown of Cape Coral; Suzanne Humble, Ft. Myers, Fla., and Cynthia Kerry of Cape Coral; a son, William of Ashtabula; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Humble, Jennifer Holler, Teresa and Steven Brown and Jason and Brandi Zall; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William, and two grandchildren, Mabel and Amy Brown.
Services is 11 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Church, 2846 Hubbard Road, Madison Township, with the Rev. Luigi Miola officiating. Burial will be in North Madison Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison.

Mazie L. Allan
MADISON - Mazie L. Allan, 86, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at Lake West Hospital in Willoughby.
She was born Feb. 22, 1915, in Huntingdon County, Pa., to William Martin and Dolly (Garlick) O'Neal. She married Donald R. Allan Nov. 22, 1958 in Jefferson. She was a 60-year Madison resident.
Mrs. Allan was a homemaker. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Madison and enjoyed working in her yard.
Survivors include her husband; daughter Betty Valley of West Palm Beach, Fla.; sons Clair Border of Sacramento, Calif. and Wayne Border of Madison; sisters Sylvia Foor of Everett, Pa., Loretta Simmons of Everett, Pa., and Hulda Border of Willoughby Hills; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by son Richard Border, brother LeRoy O'Neal and sister Helen.
Funeral is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Behm Family Funeral Homes, 26 River St., Madison. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial is in Madison Memorial Cemetery.
Martha M. Cummings
MADISON - Martha M. Cummings, 88, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, at LakeEast Hospital, Painesville.
He was born Oct. 29, 1913, in Middle River, Minn., the daughter of Isak E. and Matilda M. (Klamppu) Komssi and had been a Madison area resident for more than 70 years.
She married King A. Cummings on Jan. 25, 1947, in Painesville.
Mrs. Cummings was a homemaker, and also worked at IRC Fibers and Bill Moran stores in Perry. She enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include a son, Terry, of Madison; a grandson, Matthew Cummings; a granddaughter, Lindsay Cummings; and four sisters, Ellen Herlin of Madison, Toinie S. Komssi of Madison; Aune Hummel of Austinburg; and Ruth Plante of Madison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Marie Pierce; and five brothers, Kosti, Toivo, Reino, Earl, and Arvo Komssi.
Service is 10 a.m. Monday at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison, with the Rev. Steve Fisher of Trinity Lutheran Church, Madison, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Madison Township.

Walter F. Spadaro
MADISON - Walter F. Spadaro, 68, of Lakeshore Boulevard, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at his home.
He was born Nov. 23, 1932, in Cleveland, the son of Frank and Jennie (Sparasino) Spadaro, who were originally from Modica, Sicily. He also was the foster son of Frances and Louis DiBartolomeo of South Euclid.
He was a 1950 Brush High School, South Euclid, graduate and from John Carroll University in 1972.
Mr. Spadaro retired from Reliance Electric Co. on Dec. 1, 1988, after 28 years of service. He held many positions with the company, including plant manager for the Ivanhoe Road Motor Facility and spent six months in Brazil helping establish a motor plant in Sao Paulo. He transferred to the firm's Ashtabula facility in 1978 as the engineering manager, and, at the time of his retirement, was the plant's project manager.
In the 1970s, he also was owner and operator of Electro-Research, Chagrin Falls, where his lab developed special insulation materials, including those used in the Apollo 11 command module Columbia, which took astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins to the moon and back safely.
After retirement, he was a consultant for two years for Advanced Manufacturing Techniques, a software company owned and operated by his son, Michael. He was then a loan officer for First Choice Mortgage, Jefferson, and subsequently for Liberty Mortgage, Ashtabula. Mr. Spadaro was active on the Ashtabula County Board of Realtors and was named the Affiliate of the Year in 1996.
Mr. Spadaro moved to Madison from North Kingsville in 1996, where he designed and built his dream retirement home in which he lived with his wife, Brenda, and enjoyed the view of Lake Erie from his home.
Mr. Spadaro was a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956 as a Seabee. He was involved in construction projects in Japan, Midway Islands and Alaska.
He was active with local children's activities, including volunteer work at the North Madison Elementary School and Madison Area Youth Softball, where he was known as Papa by the children. Mr. Spadaro enjoyed the music of the local Madison Fine Arts Center Children's Chorus.
He was an elder at North Kingsville Presbyterian Church prior to relocating to Madison, where he became a member of Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; his former wife, Cora Spadaro of Madison; four children, Karen Spadaro Smith of Madison, Michael of Kirtland, Laurie Cutler of Perry, and Jeffrey of Omaha, Neb.; two sisters, Betty Fabec of Willoughby and Lana Lindquist of Tucson, Ariz.; his foster sister, Rose DeCapite; and eleven grandchildren.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at Chapel United Methodist Church, 2019 N. Hubbard Road, Madison Township, with the Rev. Vern Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Madison.
Calling hours are 5 to 9 p.m. today at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison.
Mr. Spadaro was the beneficiary of many blood donations. The family encourages able persons to become regular blood donors to the American Red Cross. Also contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve or to the memorial fund of Chapel United Methodist Church.
Anne L. Ray
MADISON - Anne L. Ray, 98, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at Inn-Madison Health Care.
She was born May 7, 1904, in Sherrodsville, the daughter of Peter and Mary (Breehl) Ledger. She lived in Salem for 40 years before moving to Madison in 1992.
A homemaker, Mrs. Ray was a member of the Legion of St. Mary, Catholic Daughters of America, and St. Paul's Church in Salem.
Survivors include a daughter, Lynn Ray Ploetz of Brookfield, Wis.; two sons, Johnny of Madison and Robert of Alpharetta, Ga.; nine grandchildren, Bob Ploetz Jr., Tina Ploetz, Scott, Michael, James, John II, Thomas Ray and Richard Ray and Amy Nye, ; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; two sisters, May Ledger and Marge Mackey; and two brothers, Harry and Ray Ledger.
Service is 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, 2846 Hubbard Road, Madison, with the Rev. Luigi Miola officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Madison.
