Vercha Cleora Curtis
MADISON - Vercha Cleora "Billie" Curtis, 77, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at her home.
She was born Sept. 30, 1924, in West Union, W. Va., to Oda Effie (Freeman) and Milton Oris Knight. She married Willie C. Curtis July 8, 1946, in Hernando, Miss. She lived in Cleveland since 1951 and recently moved to Madison.
Mrs. Curtis waitressed for 38 years at Bearden's Restaurant in Rocky River.
Survivors include her husband Willie C. Curtis; daughter Loretta Johnson of Madison; grandchildren Ashley and Ethan Johnson of Madison; sister Jean Brandsema of Phoenix, Ariz.; and brothers Truman Knight of Lakeview and Denzil Knight of Houtzdale, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Velva Phelps, and brother Ernest Knight.
Funeral is noon Wednesday at Behm Family Funeral Homes, 26 River St., Madison, officiated by the Rev. Jerry Hillyer of North Madison Church of Christ. Burial is in Fairview Cemetery, Madison.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 5786 Heisley Road, Mentor 44060.
Doris J. Nyman Cramer
MADISON - Doris J. Nyman Cramer, 84, died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at her home.
She was born Jan. 27, 1918, in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of Carl and Esther (Lindblom) Anderson.
She worked at Weldon Tool Co., Cleveland, retiring after 30 years of service.
She loved to crochet for her grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Robert Nyman of Madison; two grandchildren, Robert Nyman and Catherine Simko; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Evelyn Anderson of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Alice Hermetet of Miami, Fla., and Mildred Hermetet of Mentor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Daniel, in 1992.
Funeral is 7 p.m. Tuesday at Pilgrim Lutheran Brethren Church, 9514 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Mentor, with the Rev. Robert Heggestad officiating. Burial is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fairview Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Behm Family Funeral Homes, 26 River St., Madison; and from 6 p.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the church.
Margaret Snipes
MADISON - Margaret Snipes, 82, of Madison, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at Broadfield Manor Nursing Home in Madison.
She was born Nov. 25, 1920, in Fort Thomas, Ky., the daughter of Ruth (Fricke) and Robert Snipes.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary Carroll of Cincinnati, and Blanche Coffey of Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her twin brother, Ben Snipes, at birth.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Burial will be in Madison Memorial Cemetery, Madison.
No calling hours will be observed.

Hilda F. Hounshell
MADISON - Hilda E. Hounshell, 67, of Madison, died Sunday, March 23, 2003, at LakeEast Hospital in Painesville.
She was born Sept. 26, 1935 in Kauai, Hawaii, the daughter of Shigeru (Nitta) and Hiyakukichi Maeda.
She married Cecil Hounshell on Feb. 4, 1955, in Hawaii.
Mrs. Hounshell worked at the Naval Academy Base. She loved working on the base and enjoyed her co-workers and customers.
Mrs. Hounshell was a loving wife and devoted mother.
She liked bingo and country music.
Survivors include her four sons, Lou Hounshell of Madison, Cecil Hounshell of Florida, Mark Hounshell of Willowick, and Marvin Hounshell of Washington State; a daughter, Donna Burkhammer of Willoughby; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two brothers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Hounshell; her parents; two sisters; and three brothers.
Services are 8 p.m. Friday at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison, with the Rev. Don Leach, of First Baptist Church in Willowick, officiating.
Calling hour is 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Linda Secor
MADISON - Linda Secor, 52, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at Broadfield Manor Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 27, 1950, in Painesville, she was the daughter of William and Dorothy Secor.
She retired from Deepwood Industries in Mentor.
Survivors are a sister, Barbara Secor of Red Bluff, Calif. and an aunt, Jean Secor of Perry.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Roger Secor in 1990.
Service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Potti Funeral Home, 2726 Hubbard Road, Madison, with the Rev. Joy Blaney of Perry United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Perry Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Anna M. Woodland
MADISON - Anna M. Woodland, 90, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at Inn-Madison Health Center.
The daughter of William and Hazel I. (Johnson) Mooney, she was born Oct. 30, 1910, in Kansas City, Mo.
Mrs. Woodland worked as a basket weaver with Willow Craft Basket Co., Madison.
She was a member of Geneva Baptist Church, Rebekah Lodge and Madison Grange. She also was involved with Geneva Baptist Church Nursing Home Ministries.
She enjoyed traveling, camping and singing.
Survivors include one son, Edward L. of Geneva; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, William Johnson of Canada.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl R., whom she married Aug. 29, 1928 in Painesville; one son, Carl D.; and one sister, Agnes (Zavada) Adams.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva, with the Rev. Dick Moore of First Baptist Church, Madison, officiating. Burial will be in Madison Memorial Cemetery, Madison.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Fred R. Weller
MADISON - Fred R. Weller, 73, died Friday, March 23, 2001, in Harpersfield Township.
Mr. Weller was born May 9, 1927, in Peru, Ind., and had lived in Madison for three years, coming from Thompson.
He was employed as a plant superintendent at Feedall Inc., Willoughby, for 42 years, retiring in 1998.
Mr. Weller was a member of the American Legion Post 112, Madison; American Legion Post 601, North Madison; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8548, Madison, VFW Post 4549, Leroy Township, and the F&AM Temple Lodge 28, Painesville.
He is survived by a son Walter J. of Concord Township; and three sisters, Isabelle Picard of Phoenix, Ariz., Charlotte McKinney of Urbana, Ind., and Doris Loy of Lincolnville, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Jo, in 1993.
Graveside service is 1 p.m. Wednesday at Center Grove Cemetery, Lincolnville, Ind.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville.
