Eleanor R. McLaughlin
PERRY - Eleanor R. McLaughlin, 78, of Perry, died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at Lake Med Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Painesville.
She was born April 23, 1923, in Cleveland, the daughter of Clinton and Eleanor Thompson. She married Thomas McLaughlin in 1941.
Survivors include a son; Terry of Painesville, sister June Cornelius of Perry, five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, son David, sister; Mary Nank, brothers; Terry and Clint Thompson and grandson Michael.
Service is on Tuesday at noon at the Behm Family Homes, 26 River St., Madison. The Rev. Keith Knupp of Bethel Lutheran Church in Willowick will officiate.
Burial is at Perry Cemetery, Perry.
Calling hours are today from 2to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Richard O. Brainard
PERRY - Richard Oris Brainard, 90, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at his home.
He was born May 14, 1912, in Perry, the son of Frank Denton and Frieda Johanna (Seith) Brainard, and had been a lifelong Perry resident.
He was repairman for Diamond Alkali, retiring after 37 years of service.
He was a North Perry councilman for 33 years and a volunteer firefighter for 18 years. He was a member of the Perry Kiwanis for many years and a member of Perry Christian Church for most of his life.
Survivors include his wife of five years, Eleanor (Weber); four daughters, Kathy Stanley of Rock Hill, S.C., Becky Brainard of Long Beach, Calif., Betsy Brainard of Madison, and Deb Kendrick of Perry; three sons, Jim of Dorset Township, and Timothy and Bill of Perry; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Don of Waverly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty, in November 1995; a grandson, Jason; a sister, Lettie Jane; and three brothers, Charles, Ralph and Robert.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison. The Rev. Will Stackhouse of Perry Christian Church will officiate. Burial will be in South Ridge Cemetery, Perry.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Richard C. Thompson
NORTH PERRY - Richard C. Thompson, 78, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at Rae-Ann in Geneva.
He was born Sept. 5, 1924, in Painesville, the son of Ferol (Rugg) and Paul Thompson.
A plumbing inspector for the Lake County Health Department, he was a lifelong Perry resident.
Mr. Thompson was a member of the American Legion. He married Ava (Billington) Thompson Dec. 9, 1950, in Perry.
Survivors include his two daughters, Dianne Thompson of Columbus and Donna Geddes of Geneva; son, Russ Thompson of Perry; four grandchildren, John and Holly Holmes and Tiffany and Erica Thompson; two sisters, Beverly Thompson of Perry and Nan Moser of Mentor; and brother, Pete Thompson of California.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ava Thompson, July 23, 2002; parents; and sister, JoAnn Wilson.
Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Behm Family Funeral Homes Inc., 26 River St., Madison. The Rev. Will Stackhouse of Perry Christian Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Perry Cemetery, Perry.
Calling hours will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Alice A. Kephart
PERRY - Alice A. Kephart, 96, of Perry died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, at Inn-Madison Health Care Center in Madison.
She was born Oct. 31, 1903, in Clearfield, Pa., the daughter of Hiram Albert and Minnie (Farwell) Caldwell. She moved to the area from Hyde, Pa., in 1987.
A homemaker, she married Sherman C. Kephart on Sept. 24, 1924, in Clearfield.
Survivors include a daughter, Pauline Snyder of Perry; a son, Richard of Wellsville, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1977; seven sisters and three brothers.
Service is 2 p.m. Monday at Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, 312 E. Locust St., Clearfield, Pa. The Rev. Larry Baird, of the Clarence United Methodist Church, Clarence, N.Y., will officiate. Burial will be at Fruit Hill Cemetery in Ansonville, Pa.
Calling hours are noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Richard H. Palmer
PERRY - Richard Henry Palmer, 79, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at his home.
He was born Jan. 16, 1932, on Wheeling Island, W. Va.
Mr. Palmer married Marjorie M. Melcher Feb. 26, 1943, in Perry. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater.
He was an accountant with IRC Fibers in Painesville Township 39 years, retiring when the plant closed in 1980.
Mr. Palmer was a member of the American Legion, Kiwanis Club and YMCA Board. He was inducted into the Perry Alumni Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002.
He also served on the Perry School Board, where he was president from 1964-68.
Survivors include his wife; daughter Margie Gibson of Perry; sons Rick Palmer of Perry and Zafer Dorter of Turkey; brother Roy "Bud" Williams of Zanesville; sisters Betty Lou Gordon of Martins Ferry and Joyce Chapman of Dearborn, Mich.; grandchildren Kim Palmer, Alexzandra Nicolarsen-Palmer, Boyd Palmer and Lisa Behm; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sons Paul Scott Palmer and Douglas Walter Palmer, mother Eleanor (Williams), grandfather William T. Palmer, sister Patricia Conover and brothers Jack and Jerry Williams.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison, officiated by the Rev. Joy Blaney of Perry United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Perry Cemetery, Perry.

Bernard E. Himes
PERRY - Bernard E. Himes, 72, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 4, 1928, in Widnoon, Pa., to Paul and Virginia (Smith) Himes. He was a former Ashtabula resident.
Mr. Himes was a U.S. Army veteran. He served at Camp Gordon, Ga. as a military police officer for two years and spent five years in the Army Reserves.
He had been a machine welder at Avery Dennison in Painesville, retiring after 19 years in 1990.
Mr. Himes and his wife Lucille (Smith) would have been celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary soon. He was a member of Here's Hope Baptist Church in Madison for more than 20 years.
Survivors include his wife; daughters Kathy Strittmatter and Chriss Himes, both of Painesville; sons the Rev. Bob Himes of the Philippines and Donald Himes of Chardon; sister Eva Caylor of Ashtabula; brothers Wayne of Brookville, Pa., Leroy of Ringgold, Pete of Huntington, Pa., and Clair of New Bethlehem, Pa.; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dorothy Condron.
Funeral is noon Saturday at Here's Hope Baptist Church, 6601 W. Chapel Road, Madison. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville.

Harold B. Wood Jr.
PERRY - Lt. Harold Bernard Wood, Jr., 56, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000 at the Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Euclid.
Lt. Wood was born July 13, 1944 in Cleveland, the son of Sallie Ida Hale and Harold Bernard Wood, Sr.
He graduated from Collinwood High School in 1962 and worked for Jepson's Drug Store in Collinwood, Hendershot and Smith in Wickliffe, Bailey Meter at both the Ivanhoe and Worden Road plants, and Lear Seiger in Maple Heights. He was a security guard for NEO Hospital and for the Lake Hospital System, an auxiliary police officer for Madison Township, and a police officer for Perry Village for 15 years, becoming a lieutenant there this year.
Lt. Wood enjoyed fishing anywhere he could find a couple of inches of water. He also enjoyed collecting stamps and police patches.
He married Sue B. (Smith) April 24, 1965 at the Willoughby Hills United Methodist Church. They celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary in April by renewing their vows. The children had a surprise reception for him which was attend by about 100 friends and relatives.
He is survived by his wife; children, Alan B., Katherine S. Buehner, Russell D., and Steven M., all of Madison; his mother, Sallie of Geneva; brothers Tolliver S. and William E., both of Geneva and Franklin M. of Madison; two half-sisters, Judith Wood and Susan Simon, both of Loveland; six grandchildren; niece and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father; and sister Florence Ellen.
Services will be Tuesday at noon at The First Baptist Church of Perry, 3918 Main St., Perry, with the Rev. Michael Cole officiating. Interment will be at Knollwood Cemetery in Mayfield Heights.
Calling hours will be 10 a.m. to noon at the church.
In charge of arrangements is the Donald E. walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva.
