Jessie Vesey
WICKLIFFE - Jessie Vesey, 93, of Wickliffe and formerly of Madison, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at Wickliffe Country Place.
She was born Sept. 3, 1909, in Red Banks, N.J.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen Berilla of Vernon, Ariz.; a sister, Jennie Cox of Wickliffe; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester, in 1969.
Service is 1 p.m. Thursday at the Potti Funeral Home, 2726 Hubbard Road (Route 528) in Madison. The Rev. William Avey, of the Park United Methodist Church of Madison, will officiate.
Calling hour is noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Robert J. Handler
WICKLIFFE - Robert J. Handler, 75, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at his home.
He was born July 24, 1926, and had lived in the Wickliffe area for 45 years.
He worked as a pipefitter for Pipefitters Union Local 120 for 40 years, retiring in 1989.
In addition to Local 120, he was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Wickliffe.
Survivors include a son, Robert W. of Ashtabula County; two daughters, Betty Stiffler of Wickliffe and Peggy Zajac; four grandchildren Christine Handler, and Sherry, Brian and Nick Zajac; a sister, Ann Calabrese; and two brothers, Raymond and William.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Coralie; three sisters Helen Loser, Mary Debevec and Dorothy Trkach; and a brother, Joseph.
Service is 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 29840 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery, Chardon.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Brickman and Sons Funeral Home, 21900 Euclid Ave., Euclid.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Violet Mae Bradley
CLEARWATER, Fla. - Violet Mae Bradley, 77, of Clearwater, Fla., died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, at University Hospital in Cleveland.
She was born May 9, 1924, in Wickliffe, the daughter of Lawrence and Helen (Randall) Blackford, and lived in Chardon for 57 years before moving to Florida three years ago.
She worked as a line cutter at Chardon Rubber Co. for 17 years before retiring in 1971.
She was a member of Eagles Aerie 2261 of Chardon, and enjoyed knitting, crochet, cross-stitch and ceramics.
Survivors include her husband, George, whom she married Sept. 20, 1941, in Willoughby; children Bridggett Grant of Hambden, George M. Bradley II of Largo, Fla., and Vivian Taylor of East Claridon; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Bradley, in 1998.
Private burial of cremated remains will be held at a later date.
The Ritondaro Funeral Home, 126 South St., Chardon, is in charge of arrangements.

Esther G. Fidel
UNIONVILLE – Esther G. Fidel, 81, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at home.
She was born April 12, 1921, in Madison, the daughter of Demian and Mary Louise (Spok) Gabor.
She married Anthony Fidel in 1946 in Madison.
Mrs. Fidel worked as a nurse’s aide at Memorial Hospital of Geneva and was a dedicated volunteer in the archeology department of Case Western Reserve University, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, Johnson’s Island Foundation, Eastern Pacific Foundation and Earth Watch.
She is survived by a son, Thomas, of Unionville; two brothers, Edward Gabor and Ralph Gabor of Madison; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Mary; and four brothers, William, Andrew, Albert and Alton Gabor.
Funeral service is 5 p.m. Sunday at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison, with Debbie Muzik and Dawn Pierce officiating. Burial will be in Unionville Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Behm Family Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Ashtabula County, 2420 Lake Ave., Ashtabula; Madison Public Library, 6111 Middle Ridge Road, Madison, Ohio 44057; or Johnson’s Island Foundation, 3272 County Road 175, Clyde, Ohio 43410. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Martha McBride
LEROY TOWNSHIP - Martha McBride, 32, of Leroy Township, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at the Cleveland Clinic.
She was born July 1, 1968, in Painesville, the daughter of George and Shirley (Aikey) Lassnick Sr., and was a lifelong Leroy Township resident.
She was a 1986 graduate of Notre Dame Cathedral Latin High School, and received a nursing degree from Ursuline College in 1991.
She served as office manager at the Geauga County chapter of the American Red Cross for the past two years.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Thompson, the Geauga County Kiwanis in Chardon and the Ohio Nurses Association.
Survivors include her parents, of Leroy Township; her husband, Joseph, whom she married June 23, 2000; daughters Emma Louise McBride and Millicent Edith McBride, both at home; sisters Beth Heinz, Shirley Baideme and Sue Blakely, all of Leroy Township; and a brother, George Lassnick Jr. of Leroy.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 16550 Rock Creek Road, Thompson. The Rev. Paul Smith will officiate. Burial will be at Williams Cemetery in Leroy.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 7861 Crile Road, Painesville, 44077.

Roy R. Marx
LEROY TOWNSHIP - Roy R. Marx, 84, died Friday, July 27, 2001, at his home.
He was born April 7, 1917, in the Ashtabula Harbor. He has been a resident since 1955 and was formerly of Cleveland.
Mr. Marx graduated from Sharon High School in Sharon, Pa.
He participated in the war effort during as a machinist for 20 years for the Warner-Swasey Corp., Cleveland. He retired in 1982 as a wire weaver for the Lindsey Wire Co., Mentor.
Mr. Marx was an amateur photographer who donated his time to photographing various sporting events at Riverside High School. He also enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Aris Woodke Stone, whom he married on Nov. 12, 1955; two sons, Michael of Los, Angeles, Calif., and Jakob of Lakewood; three daughters, Debbie Stephens of Madison, Martha Cromwell of Eastlake and Elaine Frau of Sardegna, Italy; a stepson, Stanley Stone of Mississippi; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a stepson, Stephen Stone and two sisters, Anna Alexander and Bernice Grove.
Memorial service is 4 p.m. Sunday at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville, with the Rev. H. Thomas Chapman of Leroy Community Chapel officiating.
No calling hours will be observed.

Lucille W. Merrell
ROME - Lucille W. Merrell, 81, of Rome, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at the Village Square Nursing Home in Orwell.
She was born Sept. 28, 1919, in Cleveland, the daughter of Marion and Sarah Minor, and was a longtime Wickliffe resident before moving to Rome two years ago.
She worked as an assembler in the lamp division at General Electric in Cleveland before her retirement.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra J. Mohney of Madison; a son, Douglas J. Merrell of Rome; a stepdaughter, Charlotte Suttorp of Wyoming, Mich.; stepsons Maynard E. Merrell Jr. of Fairport Harbor, and Richard Merrell of Brunswick; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Marjorie Varner of Chester Township; and a half-brother, Arthur Minor of Concord Township.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maynard E. Merrell Sr., in 1967; a stepson, Charles Merrell; sisters Alice and Elizabeth Minor; and a brother, Albert Minor.
Service is 10 a.m. Thursday at the Davis Trust 100 Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg.
