James A. Biles
MESOPOTAMIA TOWNSHIP - James A. Biles, 84, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at his home.
He was born July 1, 1917, in Athens, Ala., the son of Garland and Irene (Maclin) Biles and had been an area resident for 47 years.
Mr. Biles was employed in the heat treating department at Solon Foundry and at Whitaker Foundry for several years.
He enjoyed reading the Bible, farming, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Zenola, whom he married Feb. 5, 1946, Cleveland; three sons, Perry of Columbus, James Jr. of Marion. David of North Bloomfield; six daughters, Juanita Smith of Cleveland, Florene Rogers of San Antonio, Texas, Dorothy Biles of Middlefield, Irene Biles of North Bloomfield, Lynne McCarty of Kokomo, Ind., and Zenola Biles of Warren; 19 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Arthur and Garland; and a granddaughter, Anita Biles.
Memorial service is 1 p.m. Tuesday at Russell Golden Rule Funeral Service, 15670 W. High Street, Middlefield. After cremation, burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mesopotamia.
No calling hours will be observed.
Alice M. Lang
MESOPOTAMIA - Alice M. Plizga Lang, 79, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at her home, following a lengthy illness.
She was born Feb. 19, 1922, in Windsor Township, the daughter of Winfield and Della (Drown) Richards.
She worked at Johnson Rubber Co. from Aug. 13, 1962, to Nov. 1, 1979, and for Mannesmann Demag from June 1981, to April 1987, prior to retiring.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing pinochle, reading and crocheting, and was an avid golfer, bowler, and enjoyed traveling.
She was a member of the Mesopotamia Methodist Church, a member and past Grand Noble of Rebekah Lodge 328 of Mesopotamia, the Mespo Women's Auxiliary, Mesopotamia Historical Society and the Grandview Women's Golf League.
Survivors include four sons, Michael Plizga of Easley, S.C., James Plizga of Windsor Township, Ray Plizga of North Bloomfield, and Gary Plizga of Youngstown; a sister, Nancy Richards of Aromas, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Michael A. Plizga, whom she married Aug. 9, 1941, and who died in November 1971; her second husband, James V. Lang, who died November 1987; two sons, Richard D. Plizga, in 1976 and Robert J. Plizga, in 1984; a grandson, Taylor J. Plizga, in 2000; and a brother, David Richards, in 1990.
Service is 2 p.m. Thursday at the Paine-Simpson Funeral Home, 140 E. Main St., Orwell, with the Rev. Vernon Palo of the North Bloomfield United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mesopotamia.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mesopotamia Women's Auxiliary of the Mesopotamia Methodist Church.
Ida Weaver
MESOPOTAMIA TOWNSHIP - Ida Weaver, 86, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at her home.
Born Jan. 13, 1914, in Charm, she was a daughter of Jacob J.M. and Anna (Kauffman) Yoder and had lived most of her life in the area.
A homemaker, she was a member of Old Order Amish Church.
Survivors include her husband, Menno H.; three sons: Mose of Atlantic, Pa., John of Clymer, N.Y., and Jake of Middlefield; 36 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Mose Yoder of Charm; and a sister, Susan Yoder of Charm.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Service is 10 a.m. Thursday at the Weaver residence, 8025 Parkman-Mespo Road, Mesopotamia Township, with Bill R. Byler, bishop, officiating. Burial will be in Wilcox Road Cemetery, Mesopotamia Township.
Calling hours are anytime at the residence.

Ruthie M. Byler
Mesopotamia Township - Ruthie M. Byler, six weeks, of Mesopotamia Township, died Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at her home due to heart problems from birth.
She was born June 2, 2001, in Claridon Township, the daughter of Melvin A. and Miriam (Kurtz) Byler.
Survivors include her parents; one brother, Melvin; grandparents, Atlee and Erma Byler of Mesopotamia, and Jake and Kathryn Kurtz of Orwell; great-grandparents Dan and Ida Troyer of Middlefield, John and Martha Kurtz of Orwell, and Roman and Ada Troyer of Middlefield.
Funeral will be today at 1 p.m. at 9145 Route 534, Mesopotamia Township, with Bishop Eli Troyer officiating. Burial will be in Wilcox Cemetery in Mesopotamia Township.
Visitation will be held prior to the service at the residence.

Patricia Gibbs
BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP - Patricia Gibbs, 26, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003.
She was born March 3, 1976, in Warren, to Greg and Debbie (Boyles) Gibbs. She was a lifelong area resident.
Ms. Gibbs graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1994. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics from Denison University in 1998.
She was a former restaurant manager in Chicago, Ill. and loved to travel.
Survivors include her parents, sister Sara Gibbs of Bloomfield, paternal grandmother Mildred Gibbs of North Kingsville and maternal grandmother Pluma Boyles of Bristolville.
She was preceded in death by her sister Melanie, paternal grandfather Charles Gibbs and maternal grandfather John Boyles.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Friday at Russell Golden Rule Funeral Service, 15670 W. High St. (Route 87), Middlefield. Burial is in Sager Memorial Cemetery, Bristol Township.
Visitation is 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Dorothy M. Anspach
NORTH BLOOMFIELD - Dorothy Mae Anspach, 86, of North Bloomfield, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at the Burton Health Care Center in Burton.
She was born Sept. 11, 1916, in Youngstown, the daughter of Earl and Bertha Thompson. She lived in Youngstown for 30 years before moving to the Bloomfield area.
A homemaker, she married James Anspach Sr., on March 21, 1937.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Robert E. Anspach of West Farmington, James E. Anspach Jr. of Orwell, and Richard P. Anspach of Burghill; four daughters, Barbara J. Smith of Cortland, Judith A. Triplett of Carmichael, Calif.; Annette L. Cook of Middlefield, and Carol J. Warren of Niles; a sister, Bertha Finch of Vienna; and two brothers, Robert Thompson of Youngstown, and Leroy Graham of Florida.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Anspach; four sisters, Ruth Coombs, Kathrine Hoover, Vera Mains and Helen Thompson; six brothers, George, Raymond, Donald, William, Clarence and Clyde Thompson; and a grandson, Gary Triplett.
Service is 4 p.m. Monday at the Shafer-Winans and Lamer Funeral Home, 164 N. High St., Cortland. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Green Township.
Calling hour at the funeral home is 3 p.m. Monday until the time of service.
Doris I. Fisher
NORTH BLOOMFIELD - Doris I. Fisher, 64, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren.
Born April 4, 1936, in Conneaut, she was a daughter of Charles and Irene (Jones) Lane.
She married John D. Fisher June 26, 1954, in Conneaut.
She was a member of the North Bloomfield United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed bingo and bowling.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, John of North Bloomfield and James of Portland, Ore.; one daughter, Connie Stevenson of Interlachen, Fla.; two sisters, Kathleen Johnson and Marjorie Bailey, both of Conneaut; two brothers, George Lane of Albion, Pa. and Gerald Lane of Conneaut; five grandchildren; and one grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, JoAnne Schreiber; and one brother, Charles Lane Jr.
Service will be noon Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, 8840 Park East Drive, North Bloomfield. The Rev. Vernon Palo of the North Bloomfield United Methodist Church will officiate.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. until the time of service at the United Methodist Church.
