Funeral service for Ruth E. Phillips, age 88, of Wickliffe will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday January 19, 2005 at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
Mrs. Phillips died Friday, 14, 2005 at Lake West Hospital in Willoughby. She was born February 25, 1916 in Bucyrus, Ohio and had lived in Wickliffe the past 35 years.
Mrs. Phillips was a cook for 45 years at several local nursing homes. She was a member of Fellowship United Church of Christ and a daughter of Daughters of America.
She is survived by her sons Robert J. “Bobby” Phillips of Wickliffe and James G. Phillips Jr. of Wickliffe; daughter Louise E. Phillips of Mayfield Heights; grandchildren Jeffrey Allen, and Mellissa Lynn; nieces and nephews Carol Cain, Johnny Cain, Bill Cain, Crystal Mars, Frankie Rogers, Sandy Rogers, Susie Rogers, Patty Garlock, Rick Rogers and Judy Rogers; sister-in-law Margaret Rogers of Mentor.
She was preceded in death by her husband James G. Phillips Sr.; parents Frank and Pearl Rogers; sister Helen Cain; brothers Harlan, Vern, Walter and Waylan Rogers.
Family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Tuesday. Interment Mentor Cemetery, Mentor.

Funeral service for Foster Warrens age 80 of Painesville Twp. formerly of Mentor will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 20, 2005 at Mayfield Village Baptist Church 6500 Highland Rd., Mayfield Village.
Mr. Warrens died Saturday, January 15, 2005 at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland. Born March 24, 1924 in Floyd County, Kentucky.
Mr. Warrens worked at the former Bargar Metals. Member of Mayfield Village Baptist Church since 1979 where he volunteered doing maintenance work and a greeter on Sundays; enjoyed yard work and bocce ball.
Survivors include his daughter Deanna (Kent) Hoffman of Painesville; son Rodney Warrens of Cleveland; daughter-in-law Joanne Love of Mentor; grandchildren Nick (Sarah) Warrens of Wickliffe and Nicole (Kelly) Dugan of Seville; great-grandchildren Jacob Foster, Sydnie, and Lyndsie Warrens and Christopher and Alexis Jones; step-great grandchildren Justina and Nadeya Dugan; brothers Ezra (Norma Jean) Warrens and Ellis Warrens; sister Audrey Slone; sister-in-laws Juanita (Albert) Lewis of Lancaster, South Carolina, Joyce (Charles) Bolden of Concord, and Frances Collins of Medina.
He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice; son Danny Warrens; parents Hawley and Caroline Warrens; brothers Hershel, Woodrow, and Albert Warrens; sisters Dallas Crisp and Geneva Little.

Funeral service for Johanna "Jean" Bohnert, age 97, of Willowick, a homemaker, will be noon Friday at Brunner Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., in Mentor.
Mrs. Bohnert died Jan. 24, 2005, at LakeWest Hospital in Willoughby. She was born July 28, 1907, in Burgettstown, Pa., she had lived in Middleburg Heights and Mentor before moving to Willowick seven years ago.
Survivors are her daughter, Phyllis Minoski Moore of Willowick; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sister, Irene McCance of Carnegie, Pa.
Her husband, Albert; daughter, Alberta Cahal; and sisters, Margaret Phillips and Bertha Lapota, are deceased.
Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of the services Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.

Funeral service for Earl L. Schalk, age 81, of Willowick will be held 11 a.m. Thursday September 30, 2004 at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
Mr. Schalk died Saturday September 25, 2004 at Heather Hill Rehab Hospital. He was born Sept 8, 1923 in Cleveland, Oh., he had lived in Willowick for the past 44 years.
Mr. Schalk worked at Caterpillar in the material control dept. he was a member of the American Legion post #678 in Eastlake. He loved to golf and boat. He was a WWII veteran who received the Purple Heart. He was also a member of the disabled veterans, 8th Air force Historical Society and the Chagrin Lagoons Yacht Club for 17 years.
Survivors include his wife Phyllis of 57 years, daughters Gayle (David) Staller, Terri (Dale) Voss and Robbin (Frank) Sabo-Galeoti. Grandchildren Kellie (Jim) Hamrick, Adam (Kelley) Staller, Eric (Christy) Staller, Hope (Kevin) Marcum, and Julianna and Allyson Sabo. Great grandchildren Shelby, Morgan, Brianna, Ryan, Samantha and Tyler.
He was preceded in death by Parents William and Beulah Schalk and his brother Howard and sisters Arlene and Joyce.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial service for Pauline A. “Polly” Seggie, age 71, of Painesville Twp., will be held noon Saturday, October 16, 2004 at Toledo Memorial Park, 6382 Monroe Street, Sylvania, Ohio 43560, where the family will receive friends Saturday 11:00 A.M. until time of services.
Mrs. Seggie died Tuesday at her residence in Mentor, Ohio. She was born Feb. 12, 1933 in Clarion, Pa. she lived in Painesville Twp. the past two years, and most of her life in Toledo.
She was retired from Kentucky Fried Chicken where she was controller of 33 stores in the Buffalo, Rochester, Lorain, Elyria, and Toledo area for 35 years. She was past president of Northeast Ohio Restaurant Association. She was a member of O-Ton-Ta-La Caldron where she was Past M.C.O., a member of Toledo Eastern Star Lodge; She was an excellent cook, loved to paint and dance. The family would like to thank the Pallative Medicine Unit at the Cleveland Clinic and Hospice’s loving care and Nurse Shelley Witherspoon.
She is survived by her daughters – Gerri (Dale) Musser of Oregon, Ohio, Laura (Barton) Lea of Toledo, and Jill (Gordon) Negaard of Petersburg, Michigan, Son – John J. (Susan) Seggie of Sand Creek, Michigan, 6 Grandchildren, 2 Great-grandchildren, Sister –Joyce Kmetz of Painesville, Brother - Bert (Lana) Culpepper of Fenton, Michigan.
Her husband John P. Seggie, and parents Bertrum and Geraldine Culpepper are deceased.

Funeral service for Elverda P. “Pat” (Nelson) Veselko, age 74, of Mentor-on-the-Lake will be held 8:30 p.m. Monday September 27, 2004 at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
Mrs. Veselko died Thursday, September 23, 2004 at Lake West Hospital in Willoughby. She was born December 26, 1929 in Cleveland, she had lived in Willoughby before moving to Mentor-on-the-Lake.
Mrs. Veselko was a homemaker. She loved bingo and enjoyed crafts and sewing.
Survivors include her children Linda York of Madison, Diane Campbell of Mentor, Frederick (Diane) Nelson Jr. of Mentor-on-the-Lake, Darlene Nelson of Mentor, Robert Nelson of Perry Village, and Dennis Nelson of Eastlake; grandchildren Gail (Michael) Kee, Michelle (Jason) O’Bryan, Jim Kirby Jr., Fred Nelson III, Michael Nelson, Melanie (Robert) Tomsik, Robert and Breanna Nelson; 6 great-grandchildren; brother Richard (Angie) Anderson of Mentor; sister Mildred (Tom) Woodward of Cheyenne, Wyoming; sister-in-law Iona Anderson of Maple Hts.; aunt to many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Veselko; son-in-law Ivan Campbell; sister Yvonne Scaffidi; brother George Anderson; parents George and Dorothy Anderson.

Funeral service for Jeff Upton, 41, of Angola, N.Y., will be 4 p.m. Saturday October 9, 2004 at Brunner Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., in Mentor.
Mr. Upton died Oct. 3, 2004, at TLC/HN Lakeshore Hospital in Hanover, N.Y. He was born June 21, 1963, in Willoughby, he lived in Mentor before moving to Angola, N.Y., 12 years ago.
He was a 1984 graduate of Mentor High School. He loved hunting, fishing, and motorcycles. Mr. Upton was the owner/operator of A.J. Technologies in Forestville, N.Y., for the past 12 years.
Survivors are his son, James; sisters, Debbie Hudy of Willoughby and Sandra Quinn of Mentor; brothers, Michael (Linda) Upton of Metairie, La., and Eric Upton of North Collins, N.Y.; nieces, Jennifer, Stacy, Katie, and Julie; nephews, Brian and Daniel; great-nephew, Michael; stepbrothers, Donald (Carol) Miller of Eastlake and Dale (Debbie) Miller of New Port Richey, Fla.; and stepsister, Diane (Frank) Corrao of Chardon. He also leaves his fiancee, Amy Damiani of Angola, N.Y.
His parents, Louis and Sue Upton, are deceased.
