Joyce McKoon, 80, who lived with her daughter in Warren, Pa., died Monday morning, April 21, 2008, at Warren Manor Nursing Home after a brief stay.
Mrs. McKoon was born Feb. 16, 1928, in Cleveland, the daughter of the late Marion Marvin and Byrnece Hazel Winter Burnette, both from Missouri. A longtime resident of Mentor Headlands, Mrs. McKoon was active in the Headlands Elementary School's PTA, Mentor Council of the Girl Scouts of America and the Republican Party. She also served as a voting registrar. Mrs. McKoon was employed by Painesville's Rayon Manufacturing Corporation for nine years.
Survivors are her three children, Linda (Forrest) Becket of Warren, Pa., Valerie (Robert) Koll of Syracuse, N.Y., and Scott McKoon of Fairport Harbor; brother, John (Ann) Burnette of Willowick; grandchildren, Christopher (Tina) O'Hara of Sandusky, Kimberly (Sean) Barry of Camillus, N.Y., Kevin O'Hara of Warren, Pa., Amanda (Kevin) Caldwell of Baldwinsville, N.Y., Clint (Susan) McKoon of Perry, Jaimie McKoon of Westland, Mich., and Courtney McKoon of Perry; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern Earl McKoon, to whom she was married to for 35 years, until his death in 1981; and sister, Sharon.
Friends may call at Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Pennsylvania Ave. E., Warren, Pa., Friday, April 25, 2008, one hour prior to the service, which is to be held at 1 p.m. Rev. Kevin Haley, Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until noon Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Brunner Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor (440) 255-3401. Interment will be in Concord Township Cemetery.

Memorial service for George C. Miller Jr. and Ruth Ward, will be 1 p.m. Saturday May 3, 2008 at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Mr. Miller died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Hospice House in Cleveland. He was born Oct. 7, 1940, in Cleveland.
George was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Miller was a member of the Cleveland Building and Construction Trade Council, Department of Central Services for many years, where he worked as a painter and dry wall hanger.
Survivors are his sister, Judy Soltys of London, Ontario; brother, Lynn Miller of Brooklyn; and many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving companion of many years, Ruth Ward, who passed away in 2002; parents, George C. Miller Sr. and Laura Jane Miller; and brother-in-law, Joseph Soltys.
Inurnment will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township at a later date.

Graveside service was held at Mentor Cemetery for Sylvia Jean (Cannella) James, 83, a longtime resident of Mentor, formerly of Phoenix, Ariz. Mrs. James died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Mentor Way Care Center in Mentor.
She was born Oct. 5, 1924, in Youngstown.
She was a homemaker who worked as a clerk for the former ADC Development Corp., in Mentor, retiring in 1980. She loved crafts, ceramics, basket weaving, cooking and baking.
Survivors are her daughters, Donna (Randall Boehm) Childers-Boehm of Mentor and Debra (Thomas) Conner of Mentor; sons, Charles "Sonny" (Terry) Shingledecker of Mentor and Paul (Patricia) Deck of Kirtland; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Judith; infant son; first husband, Charles Shingledecker; second husband, Fred James; and parents, Joseph and Amelia Cannella.

Josephine P. Kenny (Snedker), 89, of Kirtland Hills, died Monday, April 14 2008, at Blossom Hill Care Center in Huntsburg.
Mrs. Kenny was born March 23, 1919, in Dublin, Ireland.
She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Mentor where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and Mission Circle. Mrs. Kenny retired as a housekeeper at Lantern Court, part of the Holden Arboretum. She previously did alterations at Diamond's Men Store at the Great Lakes Mall and prior to that, was a seamstress in Ireland.
Survivors are her daughter, Mary Kenny of Kirtland Hills; son, Brian (Kile) Kenny of Chagrin Falls; granddaughter, Caitlin Kelsey Kenny; and numerous nieces and nephews in Ireland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick J. Kenny; parents, George and Mary Snedker; sister, Rose Price; and brothers, William and Thomas Snedker.

Richard J. Lee, Ph.D., age 88, of Mentor for the past 4 years and formerly of St. Louis, MO, Tucson, AZ and Downers Grove, IL, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at Hospice House in Cleveland. He was born May 26, 1919 in Tsinan, China.
Richard was a retired senior research scientist from BP (formerly Amoco). He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a 60-year emeritus member of the American Chemical Society. He was a chemist, poet, artist and scholar.
Richard graduated from Loyola University, Chicago, IL, did graduate work in chemistry at the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, IN and earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree from The Ohio State University.
Survivors are his wife of 67 years, Isabelle (nee Luan) of Mentor; daughter, Carol (Warren) Duane of Mentor; daughter, Barbara (Robert) Schnaible of St. Louis; son Noel of Illinois; grandchildren, Rosanne Duane of Jupiter FL, Elizabeth Duane of Phoenix, AZ; Jacqueline (Brian) Bub of High Ridge, Mo; Kara (Jason) Jones of St. Louis; Debbie (Chris) Tate of St. Louis; Debbie (Daron) VanZuiden of Bettendorf, IA and Robin (Greg) Saklar of LeClaire, IA; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, James A. Lee.

Graveside service for Lucille K. Livingston, age 95, of Eastlake will be held 1 p.m. Friday May 9, 2008 at Greenville Cemetery, Greenville, OH. Mrs. Livingston died Sunday May 4, 2008 at Lake East Hospital in Painesville. She was born December 17, 1912 in Darke County, OH., she had lived in Greenville before moving to Eastlake 18 years ago.
Survivors include her daughter Nancy K. (Harold E.) Collins of Mentor; grandchildren Kim (Gerry) Zynda of Painesville, Kathy (Mike) Jelenic of Mentor and Kelli (Jeff) Brass of Mentor; great grandchildren Jeremy and Cari Metsch, Melissa, Erin and Michael Jelenic and Adam and Ryan Brass; great great-grandson Brandon McCroskey. She was preceded in death by her husband E.E. “Bus” Livingston and two sisters.

Russell E. Higgs, age 83, of Mentor, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland. He was born Oct. 26, 1924, in Canton.
He was a 1943 graduate of Coshocton High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed painting and playing on his computer.
Mr. Higgs was a quality control engineer at NorthRop Grumman for many years prior to his retirement.
Survivors are his wife of 65 years, Gene K. (Erman); sons, Steve (Brenda) Higgs of Pataskala, Ohio and Gary Higgs of Eastlake; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Pauline Finton of Newcomerstown; one niece; and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Harriet Higgs.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
