Memorial service for Ronald E. Dvorak, age 72, of Painesville, formerly of Mentor, will be 4:30 p.m. Monday April 7, 2008 at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Mr. Dvorak died Friday, April 4, 2008, at University Hospitals in Cleveland. He was born Nov. 17, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Mr. Dvorak was a general manager for local car dealerships in the area including Honda of Mentor, Roulette of Mentor and Lake Erie Volkswagen. He was a member of the Mentor Lagoons and a former member of Amvets Post No. 40. Mr. Dvorak was a Cathedral Latin High School graduate and a U.S. Air Force veteran. He loved to sail on Lake Erie, socialize with friends and was affectionately known as "Captain Ron".
Survivors are his beloved wife, Ellen of Painesville; three sons, Michael (Cynthia) Dvorak of Boston, Mass., David (Karen) Dvorak of Fort Wayne, Ind. and Paul (Lindsey) Dvorak of Washington, D.C.; stepdaughter, Gretchen Bonato of Painesville; grandchildren, Maxwell, Adam, Benjamin, Ian, Eric, Samuel, Julia, Ryan and George; sister, Arlene Engle; and brother, Bill (Diane) Dvorak. He is also survived by many loving friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Dolores Dvorak.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to University Hospitals of Cleveland, 11100 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, 44106-5062.

Funeral Mass for Margaret F. Davidson, 83, a lifelong resident of Mentor, a homemaker, will be 9:30 a.m. Friday April 4, 2008 at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 9114 Lake Shore Blvd., Mentor. Mrs. Davidson died April 1, 2008, at LakeWest Hospital in Willoughby. She was born July 22, 1924, in Fairport Harbor.
She was a member of St. Bede the Venerable Church, the Marian Club in Painesville, Red Hat Society, Mentor Senior Center, Widow's Club at St. Bede's Church and the Painesville Elks. She was also involved with Reach for Recovery in the Lake County area and loved traveling, reading and spending time with her family. Mrs. Davidson was the co-owner of Solomon Nursery in Mentor.
Survivors are her daughter, Jane (Richard) Venchiarutti of Mentor; son, Michael (Pamela) Davidson of Stilwell, Kan.; daughter-in-law, Sally Davidson of Mentor; grandchildren, Patrick T. (Mindy) Davidson of Brunswick and Beth L. Davidson of Columbus; and great-grandchildren, Bryan P. and Ashley L. Davidson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward R. Davidson; son, Thomas Davidson; and parents, Michael and Helen Solomon.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Brunner Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Painesville.
The family suggests contributions be made to St. Bede the Venerable Church Building Fund, 9114 Lake Shore Blvd., Mentor, OH 44060.

Memorial service for Betty G. "Liz" Evans, age 83, a longtime Mentor resident, will be 6 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at St. Andrew Episcopal Church, 7989 Little Mountain Road, Mentor. Mrs. Evans died Saturday, March 29, 2008, at Mentor Way Care Center. She was born Jan. 2, 1925, in Cleveland.
She had a great appreciation for literature. She was an avid reader and could always be found with a book by Agatha Christie, Lillian Braun, Dick Francis or James Herriot. She enjoyed poetry, both reading and writing. She often created various crafts or decoupage projects associated with her poetry.
Mrs. Evans always remained faithful to her church, St. Andrew Episcopal. She was a volunteer for numerous organizations within the church, including the handbell choir, the prayer chain and Bible study, where she was coordinator and part of "The Witness" musical ministry. She held an open door for anyone in need. She was a minister to the lonely, earning her the nickname, "Kitchen Table Counselor." She was a member of the former Cursillo of Ohio through the Episcopal Ohio Diocese. Mrs. Evans worked for Richmond Heights Hospital for 10 years, retiring in 1990, as a billing clerk.
Survivors are her children, Linda (Fred) Woloszynek of Concord Township, Geoff (Nancy) Himes of Wickliffe and Walton (Carol) Himes of South Euclid; grandchildren, Tony (Michelle), Tim and Drew Woloszynek, and Allison, Sarah, Kristin and Courtney Himes; and great-grandchildren, Dakota and Aiden. She also leaves behind her ex-husband and special friend, Bob Himes.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the church. Inurnment will take place in the St. Andrew Episcopal Church Columbarium.
Contributions in Mrs. Evans' memory are suggested to St. Andrew Episcopal Church, 7989 Little Mountain Road, Mentor, OH 44060, or to Crossroads Hospice, 1742 Georgetown Road, Suite J, Hudson, OH 44236.

Funeral service for Margaret E. Spoerndle Brennan, age 83, of Medina, a homemaker, will be 4:30 p.m. Sunday March 30, 2008 at Brunner Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Mrs. Brennan died Monday, March 24, 2008, at the Cleveland Clinic. She was born Sept. 3, 1924, in Doylestown, she has lived in Stuart, Fla., and Fairview Park before moving to Medina seven years ago.
She was a member of Fox Meadow Country Club in Medina and loved to play golf, bridge and read.
Survivors are her daughter, Susan (John) Winslow of Mentor; sons, Michael Spoerndle of Branford, Conn., Stephen Spoerndle of North Royalton and Patrick Spoerndle of Medina; beloved grandchildren, Brett Elizabeth Winslow, Megan, Joshua, Matthew, Jenny, Michael, Jackie, Alex and Maggie Spoerndle; one great-grandchild; and one sister. She was preceded in death by her first husband, H.E. Steve Spoerndle; second husband, Robert J. Brennan; grandson, Jason Spoerndle; and brother, Robert Bragg.
Friends may call from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Arnold "Doug" Brugh age 72 of Sun City West, AZ, formerly of Cleveland.
Dear Husband of the late Paulette. Dear father of Bonnie (Robert) Hoffman, Mark (Nancy) Brugh and Doug Brugh.
Grandfather of 6. Great-Grandfather of 1.
Brother of Maurice(Gertrude) Brugh.
Mr. Brugh was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII. He was retired owner/operator of a Shell Service Station in Lyndhurst for 30 years.
Mausoleum service will be 2 pm Wednesday in the Garden of Angels Mausoleum at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon.
The family will receive friends 12:30-1:30 Pm Wednesday at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service 8466 Mentor Ave. Mentor.

Roy N. Shrewsbury, age 79, of Mentor-on-the-Lake for the past five years, formerly of Madison, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010, at Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby. He was born Jan. 22, 1932, in Stephenson, W.Va.
Mr. Shrewsbury was a tow motor operator at Ohio Rubber for many years prior to his retirement.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors are his wife of 43 years, Phyllis Shrewsbury; eight children, Jimmy (Angela) Shrewsbury of Madison, Troy (Diane) Bickel of Rhode Island, Kevin (Linda) Shrewsbury of Florida, Mary (Ken) Schaefer of Chardon, Sandy (Mike) Tgibides of Massachusetts, Mark Shrewsbury of West Virginia, Tina Sullivan of Mentor-on-the-Lake and Juilinia Shrewsbury of Mentor-on-the-Lake; many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters and other loving family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Elizabeth Shrewsbury; and three sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be 5 p.m. Saturday August 14, 2010 at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral on Saturday.
Contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Shrewsbury to the St. Mary Catholic Church Food Bank, 8560 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060.

Elizabeth "Pego" Morris Kirp, 97, died peacefully Nov. 25, 2009, in Sarasota, Fla. She was a former resident of Painesville, Mentor, Boynton Beach, Fla., and Sarasota, Fla.
Mrs. Kirp was a member of First Church Congregational in Painesville for many years. She is survived by her daughters, Anne Morris Berlin of Encinitas, Calif., and Jane Morris Rebild of Nokomis, Fla.
Arrangements are entrusted to Brunner Nixon Funeral & Cremation Service in Painesville.

Theresa M. Frisoli) Backiel, age 76, of Painesville Township for the past 10 years, formerly of Mentor, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at Hospice House in Cleveland. She was born March 4, 1934, in Cleveland.
Mrs. Backiel was a bookkeeper for various companies in the local area before her retirement.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Painesville and past treasurer for Garfield Garden Club for 22 years until 2010. She loved sewing, reading and especially gardening and flowers.
Survivors are her daughter, Terri (Tim) Schierloh of Hambden; sons, Alan R. (Kim) Backiel of Mentor and Steven M. Backiel of Painesville; eight grandchildren; and two brothers, James Frisoli of South Euclid and Tony (Christine) Frisoli of Northfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan J. Backiel; and parents, Michael and Rose Frisoli.
Funeral Mass will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday MArch 27, 2010 at St. Mary Church, 242 N. State St., Painesville 44077.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor 44060.
Interment will be at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
The family will host a reception at the Brunner Community Room immediately following the cemetery.
