Louise B. Berlo age 84 of Mentor since 1967 formerly of Cleveland died Thursday, December 6, 2001 at Manor Care Nursing Home in Willoughby. She was born April 12, 1917 in Cleveland.
Mrs. Berlo was a cafeteria worker at Mentor High School for over 20 years, retiring in 1991.
Survivors include her husband Edward of 53 years; daughter Jeri LaForce of Richmond Heights; son Jay (Rebecca) Berlo of Fort Worth, Texas; sister Bert Terrill of Aurora; 2 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Charlotte and Eileen; brothers Elmer, Leonard “Red”, and William.

Eugene J. Carroll, age 74, of Sylvania for 5 years formerly of Mentor. Mr. Carroll died Monday, December 3, 2001 at Harborside Health Care in Sylvania. He was born December 27, 1926 in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Mr. Carroll was an owner/operator of Homemark Corp. for the past 27 years. Certified Manufacturing Engineer of former Howmet Corp. in Mentor. 1st Vice Commander and highly regarded Chaplain of Joseph W. Diehn American Legion Post #468 in Sylvania. Enjoyed boating, deep-sea fishing, softball, playing cards, and shooting pool. U.S. Navy veteran of WWII.
Survivors include his wife Roberta of 11 years; daughters Kelly (Tom) Grist of Aurora, Ohio and Ilise (Dore) Shafransky of Sylvania, Ohio; sons Len (Lori) Carroll of Dublin, Ohio, Keith (Patricia) Carroll of Painesville Twp., Mike (fiancée Melissa Kary) Caroll of Twinsburg, David Bernstein of New York, NY; 13 Grandchildren Alexis, Madeline & Riley Grist, Kyle, Alexandra, Brianna, Jordan, Olivia & Erica Carroll, Ruth, Hannah, Benjamin & Mirriam Shafransky, 2 Sisters Patsy Carroll of Jersey City, NJ, Sissy (Ben) Guannino of Bradley Beach, NJ; 2 brothers Ronald (Alice) Carroll of Palmer Twp., Pa, John (Gail) Carroll of Marathon, Fl., Former Wife Catherine Carroll of Mentor.
He is preceded in death by parents Owen and Margaret Carroll.

Dennis W. Ballash, age 64, of Mayfield Village for 37 years. Mr. Ballash diedWednesday, November 28, 2001 at his residence. He was born May 28, 1937 in North Olmstead, Ohio.
Mr. Ballash was a U.S. Army veteran and also a master tool builder.
Survivors include his wife Gloria of 37 years. Children Saundra (David) Cline of Geneva, Kirk Ballash of Eastlake. Mother Helen Ballash of Tucson, Arizona. Sister Carol (Oscar) Clippard of Tucson, Arizona.
He is preceded in death by his father Clarence Ballash.

David A. DePerro, age 55, of Concord for the past 5 years formerly of Mentor. Mr. DePerro died Tuesday, December 11, 2001 at his residence. He was born September 17, 1946 in Youngstown, Ohio.
Mr. DePerro was a government and institutions sales manager for Eaton Corporation for 18 years. He was an U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War in the 1st Infantry 4th Calvary and a member of the Big Red One Association. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Mentor where he was in the Holy Name Society Men’s Club and Boy Scout Troop 75. Also a member of the Lake Catholic Gridiron and Boosters Clubs and the Mentor Soccer Club. Mr. DePerro was devoted to his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years Marlene (nee Kacsandi); sons Christopher (Dina Igrec) DePerro of Warren, Jonathan (fiancée Maria Sichta) DePerro of Cleveland, and Michael DePerro of Concord; brothers John (Linda) DePerro of Newport News, Virginia and Gary (Susan) DePerro of Loweville, Ohio; mother Ann DePerro of Zephyr Hills, Florida; survived by the nieces, nephews and many other family members he loved.
He was preceded in death by his father Frank DePerro.

Graveside service for Donald H. Souder, age 76, of Mentor-on-the-Lake, will be noon Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Perry Cemetery, Section 21, in Perry. Mr. Souder died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at LakeWest Hospital in Willoughby. He was born July 28, 1931, in Des Moines, Iowa, he had lived in Lineville, Iowa before moving to Mentor-on-the-Lake five years ago.
Mr. Souder worked most of his life as a construction engineer, retiring to Lineville, Iowa. He then became active in the Lineville Fire and First Responders. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors are his wife of 19 years, Patricia Souder of Mentor-on-the-Lake; four children; three stepchildren; two sisters, nieces; and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Helen Souder.
Charles Devine, age 83, of Mentor for the past 4 years formerly of Euclid. Mr. Devine died Monday, December 10, 2001 at his residence. He was born June 2, 1918 in Lorain, Ohio.
Mr. Devine was a painter and worked out of Union Hall Local #765 in Cleveland for over 30 years, retiring in 1986. He served in the Army During WW II and and was an original member of the 101st Airborne Unit serving in “Easy Company, and was a life member of the 101st Airborne Association.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years Leona (Crunkelton); son – Charles R. of Euclid; daughter Loretta (Carl) Catucci of Mentor; grandchildren – Deana Catucci, Carla (Steve) Costel; great-grandchildren – Tyler, Joshua, Emma; brother – William Devine of Daytona Beach, Florida and ister – Joan Donoughe – Arizona.
He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Mary Devine, brothers – George and Albert and sister – Alice Ball.
Memorial Services will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.

Mary Lee Dunlap age 79 of Mentor for 11 years formerly of Euclid died Thursday, December 13, 2001 at Heartland of Mentor in Mentor. She was born May 10, 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Mrs. Dunlap was an office clerk for Day-Glo Company, retiring in 1981.
Survivors include her sister Marjorie (Ralph) Harper of Mentor; brothers Arthur Dunlap of Medina and Edward Dunlap of Aurora. Survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Amos and Sarah Dunlap and brother William Dunlap.
