Funeral Mass for Charles "Chuck" "Chaz" F. Skufca, age 91, of Richmond Heights, will be noon Friday April 4, 2008 at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 9114 Lakeshore Blvd., Mentor. Please meet at the church. Mr. Skufca died Monday, March 31, 2008, at Grande Pointe Nursing Home in Richmond Heights. He was born Jan. 3, 1917, in Cleveland, he lived there and in Mentor before moving to Richmond Heights.
He was a member of St. Bede the Venerable Church. He was a U.S. Air Corps veteran, serving in World War II as a 1st lieutenant. He was a 1937 Collinwood High School graduate. Mr. Skufca was a retired tester of electrical motor controls at the former Clark Controls in Cleveland. Prior to that, he worked at Boyertown Casket Company.
Survivors are his wife, Margaret, whom he married in 1990; children, Margaret Skufca of Willoughby, John (Sherry) Skufca of Fort Wayne, Ind., Barbara (Rodney) Hangman of Nebraska, Mary Skufca of Eastlake and Anthony Skufca of Painesville; son-in-law, James Olander of Nebraska; many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Norbert (Loraine) Skufca, Frank (Ida May) Skufca and Quentin (Jeanie) Skufca; sisters, Elizabeth Aquila and Sr. Catherine Marie Skufca of Ursuline; and sister-in-law, Olga Skufca. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Skufca; brothers, Ed Skufca and Lou Skufca; daughter, Therese Olander; and sister, Eugenia Casiatio.

A celebration of life for Joseph Shimko, age 90, of Mentor, who passed away, April 5, 2008, will be held 11 a.m. Thursday April 10, 2008 at Faith Lutheran Church, 8125 Mentor Ave., Mentor. He was born July 27, 1917, in Mckees Rock, Pa., and grew up in Euclid.
He graduated from Euclid Shore High School. Mr. Shimko proudly served his country in the 99th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army during World War II (European Theatre), and was awarded the Bronze Star and several other commendations for his courageous service. After his service, he earned a B.A. in business from Western Reserve University. He married Betty in 1946, and moved to Mentor in 1951. Mr. Shimko worked for Carborundum Abrasive Manufacturing as the office manager until his retirement. Joe was well known by his customers as "Carbo Joe" for his excellent service.
A charter member of Faith Lutheran, he served the church in many capacities and was active in the church choir. Through his wry sense of humor, Joe made many friends. He shared his interest in world affairs with family and friends and through editorials in the local papers. Joe was an avid fan of Cleveland sports.
Joe is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty; children, Gregory of Detroit, Mich., Susan Saari of Mentor, Joseph Timothy (Christee) of Fort Worth, Texas, and Stephan (Jenne) of Hawaii; grandchildren, Brant (Julie), Stephanie (John), Elizabeth (Kevin), Josh and Amanda; great-grandchildren, Meghan, Leia and Elijah Joseph; and sisters, Mary Wohlgemuth of Castle Rock, Colo., and Mary Rados of Naples, Fla. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Mizisin.

Funeral service for Maria Scherbak, age 85, of Mentor for the past 58 years, will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2008, at Brunner Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. Maria died Sunday, April 6, 2008, at LakeWest Hospital in Willoughby. She was born July 16, 1922, in Minsk, Belarus.
Mrs. Scherbak was a greenhouse worker and floral designer for C. Merkel & Sons in Mentor for 30 years, retiring in 1976. She also designed for Bleil's and Demeter's. She was an active member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, where she belonged to the Ladies Guild. She loved to garden and travel.
Survivors are her husband of 68 years, Peter; children, Nina (Russell) Oinonen of Concord Township, and Michael (Sherry) Scherbak of Knoxville, Tenn.; grandchildren, David, Michael (Wendy), and Laura Oinonen, Christopher and Darci Scherbak; great-grandchildren, Rachel, Paige and Mitchell Oinonen; and sister, Nina. She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mentor Cemetery.
Elsie M. Holeski, age 93, of Mentor for the past 14 years formerly of Willoughby Hills. Mrs. Holeski died Friday Dec. 7, 2001 at the Cleveland Clinic. She was born June 26, 1908 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Mrs. Holeski had worked as a store manager for Hough Bakery for 27 years. She was a member of St. Mary of Assumption Church and enjoyed crocheting.
She is survived by her son – John Jr. of Mentor; Grandchildren – Ken (Cheryl) Holeski, Sue (Don) Kahley, Ted Holeski, and Kathryn (Carl) Bangham; Greatgrandmother of five.
She is preceded in death by her husband John S. Holeski Sr.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 A.M. Monday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 8560 Mentor Ave., Mentor.

David W. Hammer, age 67, of Painesville Twp for the past year and a half formerly of Euclid. Mr. Hammer died Tuesday Dec 4, 2001 at Heather Hill Hospital and Healthcare Center in Chardon. He was born June 7, 1934 in Cleveland.
A computer aided designer for GE Nela Park plant for 40 years retiring on 1994. Member of the Euclid F.O.P.A, a cub scout and boy scout leader in Euclid. A U.S. Army Veteran.
Survivors include wife of 34 years, Judith (nee Gage); Daughter Beth (Randy) Bartels of Lima; son Steven Hammer of Painesville Twp. Grandchild Hailey Marie Bartels; Sisters Shirley (Albert) Fuller of Battlecreek, Mi and Billie (George) Mavor of Willowick; Survived by many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by parents Arthur and Florence.

Adam C. Grimm ,age 62, of Concord Twp. for the past 28 years. Mr. Grimm died November 30, 2001 at his residence. He was born November 26, 1939 in Cleveland.
Mr. Grimm had been affiliated with the insurance industry for thirty-two years. For the past seven years, he was Senior Vice President of Neale Phypers Corporation in Independence. He was a member of Shaker Heights Country Club for 25 years and a board member. He was class B Champion in 1985 at the club and won the 1999 Invitational Shoot-out. He was co-chairman of the 1st Women’s World Series of Golf at Shaker Heights Country Club. He was a member of St. Gabriel Church in Concord Twp. He was a US Navy veteran and served on the USS Waldron for 5 years.
Survivors include his wife Ann (Rogers) of 29 years, daughter Gina (Stephen) Butler of Painesville Twp., sons Mathew Grimm of Mentor and Mark (Jeannine) Grimm of Garfield Heights, step-daughters Lisa (Eivind) Kolemainen of St. Louis, Melanie Price of Concord Twp., and Laurie Hanson of Chicago, step-sons William (Marty) Hanson of Cleveland Heights, Mark (Barbara) Hanson of Claridon Twp., and Jon Hanson of Concord Twp., 22 grandchildren. His mother Marie Grimm of Mayfield Heights; sisters Rosemary “Rene” (John) Gresko of Mentor, Dolores (Anthony) Divita of Mayfield Heights, and Alberta “Robbie” (Andrew) Saradakis of North Royalton; brother Joseph (Lynda) Grimm of Kirtland.
He was preceded in death by his father Aloysius Grimm.

A Memorial Mass for Nancy A. Miklavcic, age 77, a lifelong Euclid resident will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Friday September 3, 2010 at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 9114 Lakeshore Blvd., Mentor 44060. Mrs. Miklavcic died Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at Euclid General Hospital. She was born Sept. 22, 1932, in Cleveland.
Mrs. Miklavcic was a retired director of Mary Mavec Opportunity School in Euclid.
Survivors are her children, Linda Bitker, Anthony Miklavcic III, Stephen Miklavcic, Debra Miklavcic, Charles "Chuckie" Miklavcic, John Miklavcic and Patricia Ivancic; grandchildren, Edward Mikolic, Kevin Mikolic, Tina Wilson, Shana Kaylor, Derek Ivancic, Stephany Ivancic, Tina Summerfield, Michelle Miklavcic, John Miklavcic Jr., Sonny Fernandez, Anthony Miklavcic and Nathan Miklavcic; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Martha Diemer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Miklavcic; son, William Miklavcic; parents, Henry and Eleanor Luck; brother, Donald McCann; and sister, Mary Lou McInerney.
