A Celebration of Life for Virginia "Ginny" Brown, 74, of Madison, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday September 24, 2004 at Brunner-Nixon Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 176 N. State St., Painesville, where a prayer service will be celebrated at 7 p.m.
Mrs. Brown died Sept. 21, 2004, at Hospice House in Cleveland. She was born Sept. 17, 1930, in Cleveland, she raised her family in Painesville, moved to Ft. Myers, Fla. in 1975, and returned to Lake County 11 years ago.
She will be remembered for her generous heart. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and spoiling her grandson.
Mrs. Brown worked in the deli/bakery for Winn-Dixie Supermarkets in Ft. Myers, Fla., retiring in 1992. She received an award for being "The Best Donut Maker in the South" upon her retirement.
Survivors include her daughters, Lona Jean Brown of Madison and Patricia E. Brown of Painesville; grandson, Daniel Charles Sykes-Brown of Madison; sister, Geraldine Bartlett of Pennsylvania; sisters-in-law, Marlyn Lucrezi of Painesville and Mary Mitchell of Conneaut; and brother-in-law, Stanley Brown of Painesville; sisters in law Diana Webster and Loretta Brown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles I. Brown; one brother; and three sisters.
Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Painesville.

Funeral mass for Mel F. Burns, age 65, of Mentor will be held 9:30 A.M. Monday September 27, 2004 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Mentor.
Mr. Burns died Thursday Sept. 23, 2004 at Lake East Hospital in Painesville. He was born Aug. 12, 1939 in Cleveland, Ohio he had lived in Mentor Since 1971.
He had worked 20 years for Eaton Corp. as a purchasing agent, and for the past 20 years he owned and operated Burns Painting. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, He enjoyed tennis and golfing.
He formerly coached little league baseball, girl’s softball, and youth basketball in Mentor. He stayed in touch with all of his high school friends through Collinwood Memories Club; He dearly loved his family and grandchildren, and touched the lives of many.
He is survived by his wife Elaine (Tomsic) of 37 years, Daughter – Renee (Michael) Kloski of Painesville Twp., Son – Craig Burns (Fiancé Sonya Sotak) of Washington D.C., Granddaughters – Lauren and Emma, Sister – Dolores (Clarence) St. Marie of Marblehead, Brother-in-law – Frank (Ruby) Tomsic of Centerville.
His parent’s frank & Emma Burns are deceased.

Private family services for Bradley R. Durst, 62, of Mentor, will be held at a later date.
Mr. Durst died Sept. 24, 2004, at University Hospital in Cleveland. He was born Sept. 28, 1941, in Shade Township, Pa., he had lived in Mentor for the past 30 years.
He loved woodworking and crafts. He was also a U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Durst made musical instruments for United Musical Instruments of Eastlake for the past 42 years. He was one of two men in the United States that hand made trombones.
Survivors are his wife of four months, Virginia (Canterbury); daughters, Angela (Scott) Wall of Eastlake, Sarina (Ron) Bachna of Hartsgrove, Sherry (Alex) Mardikian of Corona, Calif., Tondalaya Durst of Mentor, and Rachel Durst of Cleveland; sons, David (Georgia Lee) Reed of Augusta, Ga., Eric (Georgina) Durst of Germany, Troy (fiancee, Tabitha) Durst of Columbia, S.C., and Mark (fiancee, Linda Simmons) Durst of Eastlake; 25 grandchildren; sisters, Lamarcia Tirko of Pennsylvania, Urbana Trent of Dover, Del., and Casa of Pennsylvania; brothers, Ron Durst of Reno, Nev., Harold Durst of Mentor, and Jeff Durst of Pennsylvania; and stepdaughters, Sharon (Robert) Kimble of Mentor and Tammy Lesler of Massilon.
His son, Bradley E. Durst; parents, Earl and Tava Durst; and grandson, Luke Durst, are deceased.
Funeral services for George Robert "Sonny" Eicher Sr., 69, of Painesville Township, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday October 5, 2004 at Brunner-Nixon Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 176 North State St., in Painesville.
Mr. Eicher died Oct. 2, 2004, at his residence after losing his battle with cancer. She was born Sept. 26, 1935, in Brownsville, Pa., he lived in Lake County for the past 40 years, the last 28 of those years in Painesville Township.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, visiting casinos and his dogs, Skeeter and Ike. He was also known as "Pap" to his grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Eicher was a truck driver at Pace Engineering in Willoughby for more than 10 years, retiring in 1997.
Survivors are his wife of 35 years, Betsy (Mosher); sons, George Eicher Jr. of Pennsylvania, Gary Eicher of Pennsylvania, and Ron Eicher of Painesville; daughter, Katherine Bella of Madison; stepsons, Craig (Judy) Reynolds of Eastlake, and Charles (Karen) Reynolds of Painesville; stepdaughters, Catherine Thompson of Mayfield Heights and Cynthia (Ray) Richards of Wickliffe; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Jackie Hartley, Charmaine (Jim) Hall, and Diane (Roy) Rife, all of Pennsylvania; brothers, Richard (Sandy) Eicher of Jefferson, Bill (Nancy) Eicher of Pennsylvania, Jim (Donna) Eicher of Pennsylvania; and Gary (Carol) Eicher of Tennessee.
His parents, Robert and Katherine Eicher; and sisters, Anna Grace Swager and Elsie Greathouse, are deceased. His former wife, Virginia, is also deceased.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral service for Theresa Percic, age 79, of Painesville Township, formerly of Euclid, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Mrs. Percic died Sunday, April 20, 2008, at LakeWest Hospital in Willoughby.
Born Sept. 30, 1928, in Kamnik, Yugoslavia. Mrs. Percic was a machinist at Cleveland Twist Drill for many years prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church and enjoyed slot machines, knitting and crocheting.
Survivors are her three daughters, Amy (Richard) Steele of Mentor, Josi (Tom) Zimmerman of Houston and Rose (Vicki Sanelli) Percic of Highland Heights; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Angie Zumbro of Mentor-on-the-Lake; and brother, Frank Perper of Killeen, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Percic and brother, Joe Perper.
Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
John J. DeCola, 94, a lifetime resident of Mentor, died Aug. 27, 2011, at his residence. He was born March 1, 1917 in Mentor.
Mr. DeCola was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Mentor, being a past member of the Holy Name Society and a member of the Knights of Columbus as a 4th degree knight. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Mr. DeCola had retired as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service after 27 years of service.
Survivors include his loving wife of 73 years, Mary (Torok); daughters, JoAnn (Thomas) Chandler of Va. and Patricia (William) Hocevar of Geneva; grandchildren, Kim (Mark) Mierchuk, Ken (JoAnne Sorci) Kindler, Jeff Kindler, Lisa (Stephen) Holmberg, Tina Marie Hocevar, Dawn Marie (Eric) Waldmann, William (Stephanie) Hocevar Jr. and Christopher (Sue) Hocevar; great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Alison, Rachael, Sean, Lauren, Aaron, Mark, Daniel, Christopher Jr. and Jonathan; brother, Charles (Pauline) DeCola of Mentor; sister-in-law, Barbara Jane Faye of Calif.; brother-in-law, Frank S. Torok of Conn.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Frank Hocevar; parents, Frank and Josephine DeCola; sister, Josephine Manross; and brother, Frank DeCola.

Funeral service Ernest W. “Ernie” Mance, age 83, of Mentor will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday October 6, 2004 at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
Mr. Mance died Thursday September 23, 2004 at his residence. He was born August 15th, 1921 in Cleveland, he had lived in Cleveland and Euclid before moving to Mentor 41 years ago.
Mr. Mance was a parts analyst in the engineering department of the former Tow Motor in Cleveland and Mentor for 30 years. Mr. Mance was a Euclid High School Graduate, after high school he attended the Cleveland Institute of Music. He enjoyed singing opera and had sung in many nightclubs throughout the Cleveland. Enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and fishing as a hobby.
He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran of the 24th Evacuation Hospital unit. He was active in attending the unit’s annual reunions, having attended over 50.
Survivors include his daughters Jane Lunceford of Madison, Joan (Scott) Corniuk of Mentor and June (Neil) Crookshanks of Mentor; grandchildren Aubrey (Dennis) Dickerson of Nashville, Tn., Shelby (Jason) Owings of Lewis Center, Oh., Jeremy Lunceford of Madison, Brittney Lunceford of Nashville, Tn., Jessica Corniuk of Mentor, Cameron (Jennifer) Corniuk of Mentor, Joey Lynn, Kyle and Kurt Crookshanks of Mentor on the Lake; Great grandchildren Estelle, Saoren and Katherine.
He was preceded in death by his wife Stella (Miklavz) (Mikalus); brother Frank Mance; parents Frank and Mary Mance.
Family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
