A Celebration of life for John C. Kesler, PhD., age 62 of Concord Twp., a professor, will be 1pm Saturday, July 31, 2004 at Celebration Lutheran Church, 10621 Auburn Rd. Chardon.
Dr. Kesler died Wednesday, July 28 at his residence after a courageous battle with colon cancer. He lost his fight with cancer but not his fight for life.
He was born November 30, 1941 in Toledo, he lived in Mentor before moving to Concord Twp. in 1990.
Dr. Kesler was a history professor with Lakeland Community College for the past 33 years. He was chapter advisor to Alpha Psi Rho, Lakeland’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two year college students. He served for 10 years as the coordinator for the entire Ohio Region of Phi Theta Kappa. He received his M.S. from Bowling Green State University and his PhD from Kent State University.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran in the airborn infantry, helping to develop air assault tactics for seven years, his last year of which he spent in Vietnam with the 1st Airborn Air Assault Cavalry. He loved to travel the world, read, make wine with his wife and spending time with his family.
Survivors are his wife of 41 years, Judith (Ashcroft), daughter: Brenda Sue (Adrian Brandt) Kesler of Ca. and sister Jeannine (George) Calvert of Ca.
The family will receive friends at the family residence, 10391 Misty Ridge in Concord for an Open House following the service on Saturday from 3-7 p.m.

Joe Perry, age 80, of Concord Township for the past seven years, formerly of Mentor, died Wednesday Dec. 16, 2009, at Salida Woods Assisted Living in Mentor. He was born Jan. 8, 1929, in Cleveland.
Mr. Perry retired in 1994, as a retail sales manager from Sherwin Williams after more than 35 years.
He was a member of Elks Club 549 in Painesville, a barbershop quartet and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He also liked golf, travel, camping, reading and listening to music.
Survivors include his daughter, Beth (Mark) Marinucci of Chester Township; son, Jim (Kim) Perry of Concord Township; grandchildren, Casey Geldine and Heath Perry; niece, Sue (Rodney) Fyfe of Thompson; and other loving family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores; parents, Joseph and Maude Perry; and sisters, Ginny Carmitchel and Doris Kennedy.
Memorial services will be held 4 p.m. Sunday December 20, 2009 at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060.

Funeral service for Virginia S. Petroff, age 85, of Painesville will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday July 29, 2004 at Brunner-Nixon Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 176 N. State Street, Painesville,
Mrs. Petroff died Sunday July 25, 2004 at Heather Hill Nursing Home in Chardon. She was born June 11, 1919 in Kentucky she had lived in Painesville since the 1940’s.
She had worked at IRC Fibers in Painesville and in the cafeteria at Lake Hospital Systems.
She is survived by her Brother – Tony (Jennie) Sorine and nine nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband Fred Petroff, Sisters Anne and Mary, Brother – Andrew Sorine.
Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial service for Christine Pulver (Alpers), age 76 of Mentor will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 3, 2004, Advent Lutheran Church, 7985 Munson Rd., Mentor, 44060.
Mrs. Pulver died Thursday, July 29, 2004 at Lake West Hospital in Willoughby. She was born August 29, 1927 in Wheeling, W. Va., she lived in Bay Village before moving to Mentor 25 years ago.
She was a 25 year member of Advent Lutheran Church, volunteered for the Lake County Council on Aging. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, spoiling her grandchildren, reading biographies and was a fan of the Browns and Indians.
Mrs. Pulver was a child welfare worker for several local governments, leaving work to raise her family.
Survivors are her husband of 50 years, Dale; children: Emilie Grace Pulver of Chicago, Clara (Brian) Wilson of Elyria, Dale A. Pulver of University Hts.; grandchildren: Maria, Elizabeth, Evan, Timothy and Stephen Wilson and brother: Frederick C. (Anne) Alpers of California.
She was preceded in death by her sister: Clara Van Keuls.

Friedrich "Fritz" Leutz, age 41, of Mentor, formerly of Concord Township, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby. He was born April 27, 1968, in Greenwich, Conn.
He was a graduate of Mentor High School Class of 1987, and received his associate degree from Lakeland Community College.
Mr. Leutz was owner/operator of Dive Bomber Travel.

He was preceded in death by his father, Heinrich "Henry" K. Leutz.

Funeral services for Louis M. "Lou" Andersen, age 85, of Mentor will be held 4 p.m. Saturday September 4, 2010 at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. Family will host a gathering in the community room at Brunner's immediately following the funeral service.
Mr. Andersen died Sept. 1, 2010, at Mentor Way Care Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born May 29, 1925, in Mt. Jewett, Pa., and had lived in Mentor and Painesville since 1957.
He was a graduate of Gannon College in Erie, Pa., and received a master's degree from Kent State University in 1962.
He was a well-known educator in the Painesville Township School District, where he was a teacher and administrator on the junior high school level. He began his teaching career in Bradford, Pa., where he taught from 1950 to 1957. He was the first principal at Auburn Road Junior High School (now Lamuth Middle School) from 1970 until his retirement in 1980.
He served in the U.S. Navy at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital. Lou is a member of the Painesville Township Schools Hall of Fame, having been inducted in 1998. He was a member of the Township Board of Education from 1983 to 1991, and served two terms as president of the board.
He was active in the community affairs of the area and served as co-chairman of the Concord Township Bicentennial Committee in 1975 and 1976, and was selected as the Concord Township Citizen of the Year in 1980. He was also presented with the Central Branch YMCA unsung hero of the year in 1970.
He and his wife, Beverly, were active in the Painesville Area Senior Center and he was inducted into the Lake County Senior Citizens Hall of Fame in 1996. He produced and directed the annual "Memories" variety show for nine years at the senior center and served two terms on the center's board of directors as well as 12 years on the center's house committee. He directed the Golden Serenaders choral group at the center for many years.
Lou and his wife were active in hobby ceramics and participated in many craft shows throughout the area as well as conducting ceramics classes at the senior center for many years, they were selected as Citizens of the Year at the center in 1995.
He managed for many years with the Painesville area little league and was a member of the board of directors for 15 years in the 1960s and 1970s.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years,, Beverly (Bish); sons, Donald (Bonnie) Andersen and Mark (Marla) Andersen; daughter, Karen (Russ) Miller; grandchildren, Tate Andersen, Abby (JJ) Spaller, Martin, Miles and Michelle Andersen; great-grandchild, Dawson Spaller; and twin sister, Lois Meabon of Edinboro, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Jeffrey; parents, Annaus and Hattie Andersen; brothers, Richard E. and A. Frederick Andersen; son-in-law, Bob DeBrular.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Inurnment in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery in Erie, Pa., will be held at a later date.
