George Andrews, age 89, of Mentor for the past 50 years, passed away Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at home surrounded by family. He was born Feb. 14, 1921, in East Chicago, Ind.
He worked at Hutco Electric Inc., where he was a partner and vice president of sales until his retirement in 1993.
Mr. Andrews was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Mentor for 45 years, former member of Madison Country Club, where he and his son, Bob won the father/son tournament one year. He graduated from Dyke and Spencerian College, was a member of Delta Omega Fraternity and enjoyed playing golf and couples bridge with friends. He also enjoyed being with family and watching grandchildren's' sporting events.
Mr. Andrews was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II, in the Pacific aboard the USS Prairie and USS Ocelot.

Survivors are his wife of 54 years, Lucille (Giddings) Andrews; children, Carole (Robert) Zappitelli of Painesville Township, Robert (Cynthia) Andrews of Medina, Jeanne (Thomas) Eiswerth of Mentor and Susan Fox (Ross Pallante) of Mentor; grandchildren, Josephine (Fiance Jeffrey Burch), Annie, Diana, Lucy and Bobby Zappitelli, Grace, Paige and Alex Andrews, Mike, Sarah and Matt Eiswerth, Jeanne, Nick and Luke Sagaert and Kendall Fox; brother, Walter (Laverne) Lasobeck of Rockledge, Fla.; sister-in-law, Jeanne (Robert) Wehrman of Stuart, Fla.; many nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Luigi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wasil and Marie Lasobek; sisters, Mary (Andy) Rabikow, Veronica Roberts, Sally LaBreck; and in-laws, Kenneth and Josephine Giddings.
Funeral Mass will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 8560 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
The family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.

Homecoming services for Lucy Pearl Stewart, age 78, of Painesville, will be 1 p.m. Thursday July 22, 2004 at New Hope Baptist Church, 428 West Jackson St., Painesville.
After a lingering illness, Mrs. Stewart passed to Glory on July 17, 2004, at LakeWest Hospital in Willoughby.
Born Oct. 8, 1925, in Holly Springs, Miss., she lived there before moving to Painesville 51 years ago.
She was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Survivors are her husband of 56 years, Willie L. Stewart; children, Willie M. (Wilma Jean) Stewart, Mary Lou (Derrick) Hoyes, Arie Lillian (Robert) Keyes, Queen E. (Joseph) Flinn, Alberta L. Jones-Carter and John L. (Valencia) Stewart; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four sisters; one brother; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by five brothers; and one sister.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Funeral mass for Peter Russyn, age 76, of Painesville will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday May 24, 2004 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 242 N. State St., Painesville.
Mr. Russyn died Wednesday May 19, 2004 at Hospice House in Cleveland. He was born March 17, 1928 in Cleveland, he had lived in Painesville for the past 27 years.
Mr. Russyn was a tool and die maker for the former R.B. & W in Mentor for 35 years retiring in 1990, a lifetime member of V.F.W. #2595 post in Painesville and he was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Painesville and a U.S. Army veteran.
A special thank you to everyone at Hospice of the Western Reserve for the care and compassion that they showed the family, also to the Sisters of Notre Dame for their prayers.
Survivors include his daughter Linda Gaski; sons Mathew G (Livia), Craig and K. Christopher Russyn; grandchildren Heather Ann, Demetrius Simon and Brandon Mathew; 2 sisters and 1 brother.
He was preceded in death by his wife Darlene.

Memorial Mass for Edith "Edie" (Dilo) Albertone, 81, of Mentor, a homemaker, will be 11 a.m. Monday May 17, 2004 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 29840 Euclid Ave., in Wickliffe.
Mrs. Albertone died May 13, 2004, at The Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland. She was born Oct. 6, 1922, in Newark, Ohio.
She enjoyed cooking, dancing, singing, and playing cards.
Survivors are her husband of 65 years, Angelo "Mike"; children, Dominic (Jane) Albertone of Wickliffe, Grace Maloney of Naples, Fla., Connie Whelan of Mentor and Michele (Skip) Creighton of Phoenix, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Vitolo of Eastlake; and brother, Angelo Dilo of Newark, Ohio.
Her son-in-law, Timothy Maloney; and sisters, Phyllis Guthrie and Irma Travaglianti, are deceased.
Friends and family are invited following the services to the Wickliffe Italian American Club, 29717 Euclid Ave., in Wickliffe.

Memorial services for Barbara L. Barber, 78, of Concord Township, will be 7 p.m. Wednesday May 26, 2004 at Painesville United Methodist Church, 71 North Park Place, Painesville.
Mrs. Barber died May 22, 2004, at Heartland of Mentor. She was born July 2, 1925, in Willoughby, she lived in Painesville Township before moving to Concord Township 11 years ago.
She was a teacher and member at Painesville United Methodist Church, a member of Mentor Women's Club, the Monday Club, Miscellany Club, the Kidney Foundation of Lake County, and the Retired Teachers Association of Ohio. She volunteered at LakeEast Hospital in Painesville for many years. She was an alumna of Lake Erie College, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, and the Music and Drama Club. She loved to play bridge, read and travel.
Mrs. Barber was a teacher for the Mentor Public Schools.
Survivors are her husband of 59 years, Edgar; daughter, Rebecca (David) Braid of Rochester, N.Y.; son, Charles (Libby) Barber of Round Rock, Texas; grandchildren, Kevin Braid, Sarah Braid Mercier, and Mary, Katherine, Emilie and Christina Barber.
Her parents, Lawrence and Vera; and sister, Virginia Antonio, are deceased.
Inurnment will be in Mentor Cemetery.

Russell G. Prater Sr., age 67, of Eastlake for the past year, formerly of Mentor, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, at University Hospital in Cleveland. He was born Nov. 23, 1942, in Hueysville, (Floyd County) Ky.
Mr. Prater was the owner/operator of Russ's Auto Care in Cleveland for the past 25 years. He was a member of RC Airplane Club "Spector," and held an airplane pilot's license.
Survivors are his children, Russell G. Prater Jr. of Andover, Angela (Charles) Witt of Red House, W.VA., Deborah (Donald) Hobbs of Painesville and Samantha Harris of North Charleston, S.C.; nine grandchildren; Miranda, Cody, Mason, Lauren, Joey, Hannah, Jacob, John and Hailey; two sisters, Dorothy Teel of Martin, Ky., and Frances Kay (Dennis) Henson of Hueysville, Ky.; one brother, Frank (Peggy) Prater of Garrett, Ky.; two aunts, Stella Carpenter of Willard and Louise (Donald) Sexton of Willard; former wife, Mary Seeser of Summerville, S.C.; and best buddy, Tyson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sol and Ada (Sparkman) Prater; son-in-law, Eddie Harris; and nephew, Shannon Edward Teel.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
