Nauge Louise Baughman, 54, of McConnelsville, died at 4:05 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Martha Madge Carter
Martha Madge Thomas Carter, 92, of Chesterhill, died at 1:25 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at Bethesda Hospital.

Gary G. Barkhurst
Gary Grant Barkhurst, 64, of Findlay, died at 3:40 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at his winter home in Estero, FL.
He was born April 9, 1938, at Malta, a son of the late Robert Barkhurst and Frances Anderson Barkhurst of McConnelsville.
Mr. Barkhurst founded and was president of Tri Point Homes in Findlay in 1971. He was a member of the Manufactured Home Association of Ohio and a member of the Findlay Elks Club BPOE No. 75.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his widow, Judith Hodgson Barkhurst, whom he married June 22, 1958; one son, Robert Grant Barkhurst of Findlay; one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Darol Klawetter of Sachie, TX; four grandchildren; one brother, Gene Barkhurst of Reynoldsburg; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Janet and Rod Starling of Pennsville and Sue Barkhurst of Milford.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home in Findlay with Pastor Charles Sandstrom officiating.
Graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Pennsville Cemetery.

Thelma L. Morris
Thelma Lucille Schimmel Devitt Morris, 87, of Belpre, died at 12:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at her home.
She was born Dec. 30, 1915, in Marietta, a daughter of the late George and Elveria Cochran Statts.
Mrs. Morris worked at Fairview Manor Nursing Home and at Marietta Memorial Hospital as a nurse’s aide. She was a member of Lowell Christian Church and later attended Open Door Baptist Church in Marietta. She enjoyed the Senior Citizens and playing bingo.
She is survived by her husband, Elmer D. Morris, whom she married May 23, 1984; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary Lou and Burl Moore of Belpre, Helen Huck of Waterford, and Ruth and Harold Bohl of Lowell; two step-daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Fred Hanes of Brooksville, FL and Vikki and Jerry Piatt of Whipple; one step-son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Helen Devitt of Ottoville; 13 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Schimmel on Feb. 25, 1967; her second husband, Herbert Devitt on July 13, 1979; one great-grandson, Adam Worthington; one brother, John Statts; and three sisters, Mamie Price, Marie Efferson, and Marguerite Kidd.
Funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Lowell Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Kapple officiating.
Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Audrie J. Mayle
Audrie J. Mayle, 94, of Chesterhill, died at 4:50 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at Mark Rest Center.
She was born Aug. 15, 1908, in Cutler, a daughter of the late Jerry and Hulda Ramsey Mayle.
Mrs. Mayle was a homemaker and Methodist by faith. She was a member of Chesterhill Senior Citizens.
She is survived by five sons, Frank Jr. of Canton, James and Donald both of Zanesville, Gary of Columbus, and Jerry of Stockport; one daughter, Martha Mayle of Chesterhill; 22 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Mayle; two sons, Ernest and Howard; one daughter, Dorothy Mayle; four brothers, Floyd, Grovener, Leonard, and Bud; and four sisters, Amanda McCall, Mae Phillippi, Bessie Day, and Betty Hill.
Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Chesterhill United Methodist Church with Rev. Henry Mayle officiating.
Burial was in Chesterhill Cemetery.
Aliene Janes
Aliene Janes, 81, of 8672 Ridge View Rd., Chandlers-ville, formerly of Pennsville, died at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at Mark Rest Center.
She was born Sept. 26, 1921, in Nelsonville, a daughter of the late Ralph and Emma Adams Lattimer.
Mrs. Janes was a retired secretary and bookkeeper for Bill Janes Chevrolet and Bill Janes Auctioneer. She was a member of Pennsville Church of Christ.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Carmelita and Keith Scott of Chandlersville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bill and Janet Janes of Pennsville and John R. “Butch” Janes of Reno, NV; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lynora Anderson of Dover.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C.R. Bill Janes, who died April 29, 1996.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Friday at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnels-ville with Evangelist Rick Beck officiating.
Burial was in Pennsville Cemetery.

Harry R. Baker
Harry R. Baker, 79, formerly of Waterford, died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at Morgan Care Center.
He was born March 27, 1923, in Windsor Township, to Clyde E. and Bella Goodwill Baker.
Mr. Baker worked at Malta Windows for many years. He attended Windsor High School in Stockport and had served in the U.S. Army with the 534th Engineer Boat & Shore Regiment. He was a member of Fifth Street Church of Christ in Beverly.
He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Harry Baker Jr. and Randy and Vel Baker, all of Waterford; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Rhonda and Dan Delancy of Beverly, Raleen and Randy Hinton of Foley, AL, and Rosalyn Baker of Reinersville; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred Baker of Pennsville; and two sisters, Irene Dawson of McConnelsville and Imogene Rowland of Richmond.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Angle Baker on Feb. 17, 1992, and whom he married Nov. 25, 1946; one brother, Lester Baker; and two sisters, Mary McDermitt and Ida Wells.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Thursday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Evangelist Zack Waite officiating.
Burial was in Waterford Cemetery with graveside military rites.
Blanche L. Lawrence
Blanche L. Lawrence, 86, formerly of Halcyon Ave., McConnelsville, died at 10:05 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at Mark Rest Center.
She was born Dec. 26, 1916, in Hackney, a daughter of the late David Boyd and Hazel Lashley Conn.
Mrs. Lawrence was the former owner/operator of the Dinner Bell Restaurant in McConnelsville. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, and the Valley Chapter 19 OES of McConnels-ville.
She is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Barb and Glenn McKee of McConnelsville, Mickie Farley and Connie Ferguson, both of Malta, and Becky and David Martin of Pennsville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donald Jr. and Linda Lawrence of Hackney and Gary Lawrence of Malta; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lawrence Sr.; three sisters, Mary Bell, Nell Hilton, and Ruth Ann Thompson; and three brothers, John, Robert, and Hugh Conn.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnels-ville with Pastor Galen Finley officiating.
Burial was in Smith Chapel Cemetery, near Hackney.
