Funeral mass for Violet Grden, age 86, of Concord Twp. will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday July 30, 2003 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 9925 Johhnycake Ridge Rd., Concord Twp.
Graveside services will be held 12 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cemetery, Lower Burrell, Pa. Family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the committal shelter at the cemetery.
Mrs. Grden died Saturday July 26, 2003 at her son’s residence.
She was born January 28, 1917 in New Kensington, Pa., she had lived in New Kensington and Lower Burrell, Pa. from 1917 - 1998 before moving to Concord Twp. in 1998.
Mrs. Grden worked for the Burrell School District in Lower Burrell, Pa. for 17 years retiring in 1994. Prior to that she worked for W.T. Grants in Lower Burrell and was a plastic cutter for PPG Industries in Creighton, Pa., from 1944 – 1957. She graduated from Kensington High School in 1936. She was a member of the Polish Women’s Alliance, The Alliance of Poles of America, was active with the scholarship program of Polish Lancers Club in New Kensington, Pa. St. Mary of Czestochowa Church in New Kensington and the Catholic Community of St. Gabriel in Concord Twp.
She enjoyed children, cooking, gardening, sewing, watching birds at the feeder and sports. She became an Indians fan, enjoying many games on television. Her favorite football player was Terry Bradshaw of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Her bakery was enjoyed by friends and family, she also loved to wear hats, her collection goes back several decades. In her later years her favorite activities included shopping, attending church, which would be followed by a trip to the ice cream store. Pepsi was her favorite drink and watching re-runs of Jerry Sienfeld (The Crazy Guys).
Survivors include her daughter; Barbara J. (Thomas) Box of Joplin, MO.; son Robert (Betsy) Grden of Concord Twp.; grandchildren Anne Louise Box of San Diego, Ca., Valerie M. Box of Joplin, MO.. and Thomas M. (Jennifer) Box II of Cypress, Tx.; great grandchildren Dominic X. Box of Joplin, Mo., Kilty J. Box of Joplin, MO. And Thomas M. Box III of Cypress, Tx.; Friend and companion Karen Harrell of Geneva; sister Jennie Matwiejew (Matway) Pasanac of Springdale, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph whom she married in 1937. parents Peter and Anna Matwiejew; sisters Rose A. (Matwiejew) Albert, Elizabeth Matwiejew (Matway) Kowalski and Stephanie Matwiejew (Matway) Baker; brother Stanley “Beans Matway” Matwiejew.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.

Geoffrey J. O'Connor, 63, of Mentor, died Aug. 5, 2010, at Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby. He was born April 24, 1947, in Cleveland.
Mr. O'Connor worked for Security Source as a purchasing agent.
Survivors are his wife, Maureen; children, Kristi O'Connor of Mentor, Bryan O'Connor of Willoughby and Kerri O'Connor of Mentor; grandchild, Brennon; brother, Greg (Tracye) O'Connor of Springfield, Ill.; sister, Candace O'Connor of Mentor; and brother, and Robert (Judith) O' Connor of Cincinnati.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Irene O' Connor.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday August 7, 2010 at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Contributions are suggested to Victory Junction Gang Camp, 4500 Adams Way, Randleman, NC 27317.

Private services will be held for Kathy Jo Hamblin, age 39, of Painesville will be held 2 p.m. Saturday July 25, 2003 at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
Mrs. Hamblin died Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at her residence.
She was born October 30, 1963 in Euclid and was a life resident of Painesville.
Mrs. Hamblin was an insurance analyst for Progressive Insurance at the Lyndhurst Office for the past six years. She graduated from Riverside High School in 1981, she enjoyed gardening and taking care of her home.
She is survived by her husband Renwick of six years, Mother – Nancy Edwards of Concord Twp., Sister – Karen Ash of Orlando, Florida, Stepdaughters – Ashley, Melanie, and Nadia, Nieces – Stephanie and Sarah, Nephews – David and Raj, Uncles- Harley Edwards of Mentor, Dennis Mull of Concord, Aunt – Patty Katz of Painesville.
She was preceded in death by her father Jerry Mull.
Family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Interment at Riverside Cemetery, Painesville.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to ALS Association NE Ohio Chapter, 2500 E. 22nd Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44115-9907.

Funeral service for Jenny M. (Virant) Hanslik, age 78, of Concord Twp. will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday July 30, 2003 at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Avenue, Mentor.
Mrs. Hanslik died Sunday July 27, 2003 at Lake Hospital Systems, Willoughby.
She was born September 25, 1924 in Cleveland, she had lived in Richmond Heights before moving to Concord Twp. 23 years ago.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years Norman J.; nephew Louis Virant, Jr. and sister-in-laws, Sharon Mastro and Frances Virant.
She was preceded in death by her brother Louis Virant.
Family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Interment Whitehaven Memorial Park, Mayfield Village

A private service will be held for Katherine S. Townley, age 94, of Kirtland. Mrs. Townley died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Hospice House in Cleveland. She was born March 4, 1914 in W. Nashville Tennessee, she was a 50 year Kirtland resident. Prior to Kirtland, she lived in Mayfield Heights.
She enjoyed Genealogy and China Painting. Mrs. Townley was an LPN and worked as a medical secretary and assistant for Dr. Murray G. Winchell, MD for 18 years, retiring in 1978.
She is survived by her daughter Chris Townley of Mentor; sister Bess M. (Bill) Ray of Texas and nephews John and Robert Ray. Her husband, Karl, died in 1983.
Family will receive friends from 3-5pm Friday, March 28, 2008 at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
Inurnment Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chesterland.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Townley’s memory may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 E. 185 St. Cleveland, 44119.

Richard J. Kolar, age 77, of Mentor for the past 39 years, formerly of Willowick, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at home surrounded by his family. He was born July 14, 1934, in Cleveland.
Mr. Kolar was a engineer for Therma-Tech in Detroit, Mich., for the past 25 years. Prior to that, he worked for HUPP Corporation, a division of White Consolidated. Richard was a member of Nottingham Baptist Church in Willoughby Hills. He loved to fish, golf, and travel. He especially loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Polly P. (Klisuric) Kolar; children, Rick Kolar of Mentor, Rae Lynne (James) Walsh of Painesville Township, Jim (Michelle) Kolar of Wellington, Fla., and Kurt (Stacey) Kolar of Concord Township; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Fatica of Cleveland.
He was preceded in death by parents, John and Theresa Kolar.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2011 at Nottingham Baptist Church, 2921 Bishop Road, Willoughby Hills. Interment will be in Mentor Cemetery in Mentor.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 E. 185th St., Cleveland, OH 44119 or Visiting Angels, 7139 Hopkins Road, Mentor, OH 44060.

Funeral mass for George E. Herkner, age 85, of Mentor will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday July 23, 2003 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 7575 Bellflower Rd., Mentor.
Mr. Herkner died Saturday, July 19, 2003 at his residence.
He was born June 13, 1918 in Cleveland, he had lived in Ashtabula before moving to Mentor.
Mr. Herkner was a quality control supervisor. He enjoyed golfing and horse racing. Member of St. John Vianney Church in Mentor. Member of VFW Post in Ashtabula.
Survivors include his sons James E. Herkner of Russell and Mark E. Herkner of Mentor; daughter Annette T. Beachler of Mentor; grandchildren Ashley Herkner, Theresa Beachler, Michael Beachler; sisters Mary (Bill) Nisbet and Rita (Danny) Morganthaler.
He was preceded in death by his wife Helen A. Herkner.
Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
Interment All Souls Cemetery, Chardon.
Family suggests contributions be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve 5786 Heisley Rd., Mentor 44060.
