Eleanor B. Bissell
CHARDON - Eleanor B. Bissell, 74, died Sunday, March 25, 2001, at Geauga Regional Hospital, Claridon Township.
Born May 30, 1926, in Hilliards, Pa., she was a daughter of James and Annabelle (Hovis) Peoples. She had been an area resident since 1955, having lived previously in Akron and Orwell.
She married Richard L. Bissell in 1955 in Orwell.
She worked at Sun Rubber in Akron before becoming a finisher for Chardon Rubber in Orwell and Chardon.
She enjoyed reading.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Richard Bissell of Mentor; three grandchildren, Leslie, Bridgette and Sarah Bissell; and one brother, Regis Peoples of Hilliards, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Frances Josephine Gaiser; and four brothers, Frank, Clarence, George and James Peoples.
Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon. The Rev. Tom Gilles of the Church of St. Mary, Chardon, will officiate.
Burial will be in Hambden Cemetery, Hambden Township.
Calling hours are from 1 p.m. until the time of service.

Lawrence B. Harmatos
CHARDON - Lawrence B. Harmatos, 61, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at Hospice of the Western Reserve, Cleveland.
He was born April 22, 1940, in Budapest, Hungary, the son of Dezso and Gizella Harmatos, and came to America on Jan. 28, 1950.
He grew up in Shaker Heights, raised his family in Chester Township for 20 years, then lived in Kirtland for 10 years before moving to Chardon in April.
He was a salesman at SK Industries, Newbury Township. Previously, he spent more than 20 years as a district sales manager at Buyers Products Co., Mentor.
He served as a military policeman in the U.S. Army, between 1958 and 1961, including time spent at the Panama Canal. He was honorably discharged, and served with the Army reserves until June 1964.
He enjoyed fishing, cooking and spending time with his family.
Survivors include a daughter, Lori Ann Suglia of Chester Township; three sons, Raymond Prosen of Mentor, Richard Prosen of Mayfield, and Ronald Prosen of Chardon; five grandchildren, Raymond, Randall, Raquel and Renee Prosen and Gianna Suglia; a sister, Katherina Kekedy of Chagrin Falls; and his former wife, Gerri Prosen of Mentor.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Service is 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Ritondaro Funeral Home, 126 South St., Chardon. The Rev. Barry Gearing, associate pastor of St. Anselm's Catholic Church, Chester Township, will officiate. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery, Chardon Township.
Visitation is noon until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Thomas J. Beal
CHARDON TOWNSHIP - Thomas J. Beal, 71, of Chardon Township, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights.
He was born Jan. 14, 1930, in Tennessee, the son of Herman and Ruth (Long) Beal, and moved to the area 34 years ago from Mentor.
He worked as a machine assembler for Cleveland Crane in Wickliffe for 34 years.
He enjoyed carpentry, and built four homes and remodeled a century home; was an avid baseball and football fan; met with friends every day for the past nine years at a Mentor restaurant; and especially enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, the former Maryanna Chaffin, whom he married May 19, 1951, in Lawrenceburg, Ind.; daughters Sheila Bissell of Mentor, and Pamela Rutledge of Concord Township; sons James Beal of Concord Township, and David Beal of Thompson Township; grandchildren Teresa, Steven, Meghan, John Elliott, Anthony, Christy and Zachery; sisters Augusta Ryals of Seattle, Wash., and Shirley Giles of Oakridge, Tenn.; and a brother, Austin Beal of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Hauty, Eugene and Donald Beal.
Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon. The Rev. Hugh Smith of Painesville will officiate. Burial will be at Larned Cemetery in Chardon Township.
Calling hours will be 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Leo J. Mausser
CHARDON TOWNSHIP - Leo J. Mausser, 82, of Chardon Township, died early Wednesday morning, March 21, 2001, at Heather Hill Hospital.
He was born Oct. 21, 1918, in Cleveland, the son of John and Florence Mauser, and moved to Chardon Township 45 years ago from Cleveland.
He was a Marine during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater of Operations.
He worked 30 years as a tool and die maker at Lincoln Electric, retiring in 1971.
He was a member of St. Mary Church in Chardon, Euclid Vets, Chardon Eagles 2261 and Forresters. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, woodworking and gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, the former Adele Zlatkauckas; four sons, Colin of Salem, Ind., James of Deltona, Fla., Leon of Orlando, Fla., and John of Chardon; five grandchildren, Scott, Amanda, Jesse, Jodi and Ashley; a brother, Don of Wickliffe; and a sister, Leona Murphy of Cleveland.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dolores Vidugris.
A funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of St. Mary, 401 North St., Chardon. The Rev. Paul Sciorrotta, chaplin of the Notre Dame Education Center, will officiate. Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Ritondaro Funeral Home, 126 South St., Chardon.
Leonard J. Morrison
CHARDON - Leonard Joseph Morrison, 70, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at his home.
He was born Feb. 21, 1932, in Corsica, Union Township, Pa., the son of Ross Henderson and Florence A. (Clinger) Morrison.
He also lived in Huntsburg Township before moving to Chardon in 1981.
He was a machinist at Chardon Rubber Co. for 27 years, retiring in 1998.
He married Mildred St. Denis Dec. 11, 1982, in Rock Creek.
Mr. Morrison was a private first class during the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force.
His memberships included: VFW Post #6519 in Chardon; American Legion; and United Rubber Workers Union, Local #557 in Chardon.
Mr. Morrison enjoyed football and baseball and loved to go fishing, golfing and bowling. He also was fond of motorcycles and traveling. He was a "hands-on" person who enjoyed "tinkering" to make tools for his work.
Mr. Morrison was an avid reader and "family-oriented."
Survivors include his wife, three daughters, Leona Morrison of Chardon, Roxanne Busser of Kannapolis, N.C. and Sharon Hall of Windsor Township; four sons, Mickey Dwayne Morrison of Middlefield Township and Danny Ross Morrison, William John Morrison and Ross Charles Morrison, all of Chardon; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Leonard Joseph Morrison Jr.; three sisters, Mary Siar, Pauline Siar and Kate Morrison; and two brothers, John and William Morrison.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon. The Rev. Robert Gaston will officiate.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at the mausoleum at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chester Township.
Mildred L. McAnaney
CHARDON - Mildred L. McAnaney, 90, died Tuesday, May 8 in the Briar Hill Nursing Home, Middlefield.
She was born July 15, 1910, in Coatsville, Pa., the daughter of Frank and Laura (Preston) Pennypacker.
She married Hugh J. McAnaney on Nov. 15, 1930.
Mrs. McAnaney was a homemaker. She also worked for many years at the former Julie’s Dress and Gift Shop on Chardon Square.
She was a longtime devoted member of Pilgrim Christian Church, Chardon, where she was active with church dinners, bazaars and the Women’s Fellowship. She enjoyed many types of handcrafts, but was known for her sewing and cross-stitching.
Survivors include a son, Gary of Fairplay, Colo.; six grandchildren, Michael, Patrick, Laura, Beth and Penny McAnaney and Connie and Tim Goodrich; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on May 22, 1987; a daughter, Nancy Goodrich; a son, Hugh J. Jr.; a grandson, Hugh J. III; and a sister, Helen Barton.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Christian Church, 202 S. Hambden St., Chardon, with the Rev. Robert D. Penrod officiating. Burial will be in Chardon Municipal Cemetery.
Family will receive friends before and after the service. A light lunch will be provided in the Fellowship Hall of the church following the service.
