Genevieve Barnum
CHARDON - Genevieve (Ashcraft) Barnum, 84, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at her home.
She was born Oct. 15, 1917, at her family's home in Munson Township, the daughter of Frank Ashcraft and Irene (Collins) Betzer and was a lifelong Chardon resident.
She married Bob Barnum on Sept. 21, 1941
She was a graduate of Spencerian Business College in Cleveland before it became Dyke College.
Mrs. Barnum was a bookkeeper and worked as head of circulation at Chardon Library from 1974 until her retirement in 1989. She also was a bookkeeper in the clerk's office at the Chardon Local Board of Education for two years.
Mrs. Barnum enjoyed reading and sewing. She was a member of Chardon United Methodist Church
Survivors include two sons, Wilton of Casper, Wyo., and George of Washington D.C.; a daughter Jo Bennett of Maryville, Tenn.; and three grandsons, Robert, Liam, and David Barnum.
She was preceded in death by her husband in April 1999; her parents; and a brother, Wilton Ashcraft.
Graveside service is 2 p.m., Wednesday at Maple Hill Cemetery, at the corner of Cedar and Auburn roads, Munson Township.
Calling hours are 7 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday at the Ritondaro Funeral Home, 126 South St., Chardon.

Danny E. Lee
CHARDON - Danny Edward Lee, 56, of Chardon, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at University Hospital in Cleveland.
He was born Nov. 14, 1946, in Chardon, the son of Elgia and Elsie (Kitson) Lee.
He was a lifelong Chardon resident and a part-time Kissimmee, Fla., resident since 1990.
Mr. Lee was a truck driver at Stewart Excavating in Willoughby for 10 years, until 1990. He previously worked as a groundskeeper at Orchard Hills in Chesterland.
He had been a Corvette owner since graduating from Chardon High School in 1964. In addition, he enjoyed his five dogs, woodworking and drag racing.
Survivors include his wife, Carol A. (McQuillan) Lee, whom he married June 29, 1968, at St. Justin Martyr in Eastlake; a daughter, Cheri Duncan of Chardon; a son, Danny E. Lee Jr. of Willoughby; and three grandchildren, Hallie and Troy Duncan and Baby Lee.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Service is 10 a.m. Thursday at the Ritondaro Funeral Home, 126 South St., Chardon. The Rev. Mr. Gregory Frania, deacon of St. Lucy's Catholic Church in Middlefield, will officiate.
Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
Family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
MELANIE ANNE MEEKS
CHARDON - Melanie Anne Meeks, 41, of Chardon, formerly of Mentor, died on Friday, August 1, 2003, at her residence.
The Family will receive friends at the RITONDARO FUNERAL HOME, 126 South Street, Chardon, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, August 4, 2003.
A Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2003, at the funeral home.
Burial will be in North Chardon Cemetery.
James E. Scott
CHARDON - James Edward "Scotty" Scott, 73, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at Geauga Regional Hospital in Claridon Township.
He was born Nov. 3, 1929, in Cleveland, the son of Harry Winfield Scott and Ludmilla Rosalie (Malucky) Mollenkoph. He lived in Burton between 1948 and 1996, then he moved to Chardon. He also spent winters in Hawaii between 1973 and 1979.
He was a 1947 graduate of Twinsburg High School, and joined the National Guard in 1950.
He was bank manager at 1st National Bank of Burton for 15 years, retiring in 1976. After retirement, he sold merchandise at the International Market Place in Waikiki, was a cider press operator at Sunrise Farms in Burton, a bartender at Century Inn in Burton, car salesman at Chuck White Auto in Middlefield and worked at the Marathon service station in Claridon Township.
He married Alice Jiracek on Oct. 23, 1948, in Twinsburg.
He was a member of the Unity of Greater Cleveland Church in Cleveland Heights and was a Master Mason with the Mason Lodge 274 of Burton. He volunteered at the log cabin in Burton, the Burton Century Village, and helped with books sales at Burton Library.
He was active at the Geauga Senior Center in Chardon, where he enjoyed the men's senior discussion breakfast and taught exercise class. He also enjoyed travel, woodworking and playing the harmonica.
Survivors include a son, James M. Scott of Burton Township; a daughter, Alice Persin of Huntsburg; a granddaughter, Jennifer Gibson of Athens; and sisters June Walker of Venice, Fla., and Linda Kuharcik of Solon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, in June 1980.
A private family service will take place at a later date.

GLADYS E. VAUGHN
CHARDON - Gladys Elizabeth Vaughn (nee: Matthewson), age 99, a lifelong Chardon resident, died Monday, December 6, 2004, at Chardon Assisted Living in Chardon, OH. She was an Elementary Teacher and Principal in Geauga County for 36 years, having taught in Hambden, Chesterland and Newbury. At her request, a private graveside memorial service was held. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 14, 2004, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall, at Chardon United Methodist Church, Chardon, OH. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Munson Township, OH. Donations may be made to Chardon Untied Methodist Church, 515 North Street, Chardon, OH 44024 or to the charity of your choice. CHARDON - Irene Mae Collier (née: Buchs), 84, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, at her daughter’s home in Hambden Township.
Memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Chardon Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 110 Woodiebrook Drive, Chardon, with Mr. Ted Schienke officiating. A private burial will be in Hambden Cemetery, Hambden Township.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday at Kingdom Hall.

CHARDON TOWNSHIP - Edward "Jimmie" W. Welch, 90, of Chardon Township, died on Thursday, May 29, 2003.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 2, 2003 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
James W. Kirby
CHARDON - James W. Kirby, 53, of Chardon, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Ind.
He was born June 12, 1947, in Alabama, the son of William J. and Helen Kirby. He lived in North Carolina and had been a Chardon resident the past five years.
He worked in the construction industry.
Survivors include his mother, of Chardon; his wife, Marian Elaine of Chardon; a son, Jimmy Kirby; a daughter, Michelle Kirby; and a sister, Peggy Turner of Chardon.
He was preceded in death by his father, in 1992.
Service is 11 a.m. Thursday at the Speer-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville. Burial will be at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m., and 6 and 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Gertrude P. Lyon
CHARDON - Gertrude P. Lyon, 90, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at her home.
She was born Dec. 24, 1909, in Cleveland, the daughter of August and Matilda (Hass) Kashubeck.
Mrs. Lyon lived in Geauga County for 51 years and lived in Chardon since 1974. She was formerly a resident of Claridon Township.
She married Harve A. Lyon in Cleveland on Jan. 16, 1932.
A homemaker, she was a founding member of Peace Lutheran Church, Munson Township. She loved to crochet and do other handwork.
She and her husband owned and operated the former Hillside Store at the intersection of Mayfield Road and Taylor Wills Road from 1960 to 1973.
Survivors include a son, Harve F. of Chardon; a daughter, Carol Dayton of Tucson, Ariz.; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband on July 8, 1972.
Service is 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon, with the Rev. Donald Heino of Peace Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at Claridon Center Cemetery, Claridon Township.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
