Mary J. Aumick
CHARDON TOWNSHIP - Mary J. Aumick, 96, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2001, at Blossom Hill Nursing Home, Huntsburg Township.
She was born May 3, 1905, in Montville Township, the daughter of George and Sadie (Sommers) Mowrey.
Mrs. Aumick was a lifelong Geauga County resident.
She married John R. Aumick in Pittsburgh, Pa., on June 9, 1932.
Mrs. Aumick was a school teacher for 16 years and principal at Park Elementary School for 21 years, retiring in 1962.
She was a 1923 Chardon High School graduate and attended Kent State University and Western Reserve University. She was inducted into the Chardon Schools Hall of Fame in 1995.
Mrs. Aumick was an active charter member of Pilgrim Christian Church; a member of the Geauga County Retired Teachers Association; the Chardon Alumni Association, where she was the oldest member attending the annual dinner in 2000; a former member of the former Ruby Chapter 4, Order of Eastern Star, Chardon; honorary policeman with the Chardon Police Department, for her many years of service with the Chardon School Safety Patrol; and was active with the Campfire Girls.
She enjoyed gardening and travel and for many years wintered in Pinellas Park, Fla., with her husband.
Survivors include a sister, Lula Wilder of Chardon Township.
She was preceded in death by husband John R.; her parents; and two brothers, Leonard and Glenn Mowrey.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon, with the Rev. Robert D. Penrod of Pilgrim Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Larned Cemetery, Chardon Township.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.

Mildred A. Weber
CHARDON - Mildred A. Weber, 94, of Chardon, (formerly of N. Kingsville, Conneaut, and Eastlake) died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at Chardon Health Care in Chardon.
She was born on November 15, 1908, in Eureka, MT. Mrs. Weber was a Licensed Practical Nurse who practiced private duty nursing, and she enjoyed sewing, dancing, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Phyllis (James) Egner Whitmore of Conneaut; grandchildren, Larry (fiancee Lou Ann Pospiech) McKay, Gary (Sally) Egner, Carol (Vince) Egner Blancato, Keith (Teresa) Egner Sr., Marcy (Ron) Weber Bachman, Denise Weber Anderson, William A. "Bill" Weber; seven step-grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; many other grandchildren; and sisters, Lois McCoy of Holiday, FL, and Harriet Marks of Austin, TX.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Weber; son, William H. Weber; daughter, Lois Gulliford Cotton; grandsons, Calvin "Mickey" Egner and Robert Brock; and sisters, Ethel Hill and Agnes Allen.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2003 at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. on Monday, June 2, 2003 at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Bedford Heights, with a gathering at 1:30 p.m., after the interment, at Advent Lutheran Church, 7985 Munson Rd., Mentor.
Sally A. Ludwig
CHARDON TOWNSHIP - Sally Ann Ludwig, 67, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at Briar Hill Nursing Home, Middlefield.
She was born Feb. 1, 1953, in South Bend, Ind., the daughter of Bert and Mary (Krakowski) Banicki and had been a 32-year area resident, coming from Bedford Heights.
She worked as teller and assistant manager of the former Peoples Bank, retiring in 1993 after 15 years of service.
She married Emil Ludwig on May 15, 1970.
A 27-year member of Chardon United Methodist Church, Mrs. Ludwig enjoyed singing in the church choir and her activities with the United Methodist Women. She also enjoyed vegetable gardening, knitting, golfing, and classical music and hymns, as well as her work as a volunteer at area hospitals. She also took camping trips with her husband in New England and the surrounding area.
Survivors include her husband, Emil; two sons, Michael A. of Troy Township, and Christopher J. of Wickliffe; two brothers, Raymond Banicki of Seaford, N.Y., and Thomas Banicki of Russell Springs, Ky.; two sisters, Patricia Banicki of Marquette, Mich., and Judith Brown of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and three grandchildren, Heather and Rachel Darrah, and Ralph Hayes.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Service is 10 a.m. Saturday at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon, with the Rev. Charles A. Peal of Crossroads United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chester Township.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Edward J. Pavlik
CHARDON - Edward J. Pavlik, 90, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, in Heather Hill Hospital and Health Care Center, Munson Township.
Mr. Pavlik was born Oct. 9, 1911, in Cleveland, the son of Thomas and Mary (Bartusek) Pavlik.
A Chardon resident for 50 years, Mr. Pavlik was a tool and die maker for the former Cleveland Graphite Bronze (Clevite). After 30 years in the business, he retired in 1973.
He married Eleanor Pesek Oct. 22, 1936. She preceded him in death in 1975.
Mr. Pavlik was a member of the Church of St. Mary, Chardon, and the Chardon Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 2261. He also enjoyed vegetable gardening, watching baseball games and observing the wildlife on his property.
Survivors include his three daughters, Joyce Thompson of Rocky River, Barbara Rayl of Chardon and Mary Clifton of Munson Township; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and son, Dennis Pavlik.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of St. Mary, 401 North St., Chardon, with the Rev. Gregory Schaut officiating.
Burial is in All Souls Cemetery, Chardon Township.

Lois R. Yates
CHARDON - Lois Rose Yates, 60, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at her home.
She was born Oct. 6, 1942, in East Cleveland, the daughter of Oskar G. and Eleanor (Haffer) Henke. She lived in Mentor-on-the-Lake before moving to Chardon in 1973.
A homemaker, she married Robert H. Yates Nov. 9, 1963, at Immaculate Conception Church in Willoughby.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chardon, where she was a money counter, She was treasurer at the Burroughs Nature Club in Willoughby and a longtime volunteer at Holden Arboretum in Kirtland, especially during plant sales. She was a former volunteer with WomanSafe and enjoyed bird watching and gardening.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Dawn Gerlica of Willoughby; and a brother, Russell Henke of Sykesville, Md.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial Mass will take place 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 401 North Street, Chardon. The Rev. Gregory F. Schaut, associate pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church, will officiate.
There will be no visitation.

Alice L. Franke
CHARDON TOWNSHIP - Alice L. Franke, 91, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at Blossom Hill Nursing Home in Huntsburg Township.
She was born Nov. 16, 1911, in Wichita, Kans. and moved to the area from Brooksville, Fla., in 1986.
A homemaker, she married Bill Lynn Franke on Sept. 14, 1935, in Wichita, Kans.
She was a Girl Scout leader and Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed reading and was an astute political observer. She enjoyed history and was current on world events.
Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Hofstetter of Chardon Township; grandchildren Emily and John Hofstetter, and Leslie, James, Anthony and Richard Stoll; a sister, Elinor Sadowske of Wichita, Kansas; and a brother, the Rev. William Furnas of Havana, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, on June 22, 1997; and a daughter, Dana Lynn Stoll.
A memorial service is 3 p.m. Saturday at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon. Dr. Henry F. Woodruff, pastor of Chardon United Methodist Church in Chardon, will officiate. Private family burial will be at Orrville Cemetery in Orrville at a later date.

Michael A. Slepko
CHARDON - Michael A. Slepko, 78, died Thursday, June 7, 2001, at UHHS Geauga Regional Hospital, Claridon Township.
A lifelong Geauga County resident, he was born Sept. 12, 1926, in Cleveland, the son of Anthony and Anna (Prelusky) Slepko.
He married Julia Simone in October 1945.
Mr. Slepko worked in insurance sales for Monumental Life Insurance for 30 years, retiring in 1977.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II. He enjoyed flea markets and auctions; working bingo at St. Edward's Church, Parkman Township; and carpentry work.
He is survived by two daughters, Michelle Cervenka of Burton Township and Mary Lou Iorio of Painesville Township; a son, Joseph of Troy Township; eight grandchildren Julie, Gayle, Christopher and Susanne Cervenka; Nicholas Iorio and Julia, Anthony and Joseph Slepko; and two brothers Nick Pokea and Steve Slepko of Cleveland.
He was preceded in death by his wife in November 1977; his parents; a sister, Marie Baines; and a brother Greg.
Service is 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Burr Funeral home, 116 South St., Chardon. The Rev. Tom Gilles of the Church of St. Mary, Chardon, will officiate. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery, Chardon Township.
Friends may call from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
