Hester C. Lockhart
Hester C. Lockhart, 90, of Waterford, died at 7:43 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
She was born Jan. 3, 1913, in Phelps, KY, a daughter of the late James David and Mary Wolford Charles.
Mrs. Lockhart was a homemaker. She loved flowers and enjoyed working in her flower gardens. She was very fond of her pets.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Bambi Lockhart of Waterford and Tim and Sharon Lockhart of Beverly; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Brenda Ward of Dallas, TX, Barbara and Jim Evans of Lowell, and Pat and Gene Albright of Waterford; 13 grandchildren, Marnie Ward, J.C. Evans and his wife, Bonnie, Jodi Bryant and her husband, Andy, Lise Burns and her husband, Bruce, Jami Biedel and her husband, John, Jim Skinner, Layne Place and her husband, Rod, Jason Lockhart and his wife, Tanya, Amy Harlow and her husband, Joe, Meagan Steele and her husband, John, Joshua Lockhart, Aron Albright and Anthony Albright; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and her twin sister, Esther Charles of Ypsilanti, MI.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Rega L. Lockhart, whom she married on Nov. 8, 1945, and who died May 28, 1998; three sons, Jason Bruce Lockhart, Eugene Lee Lockhart, and R.C. Lockhart; one granddaughter, Laura Lu Lockhart; three sisters; and seven brothers.
Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Evangelist Merle Farnsworth officiating.
Burial was in Waterford Cemetery.
Helen Conard
Helen Conard of Columbus died on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, at Mount Carmel Medical Center.
She was the daughter of the late Wilbert E. and Mary (Garrett) Lawrence of Rowland.
Mrs. Conard was a member of Bristol Presbyterian Church near McConnelsville, Golden Hobby Shop, Ohio Historical Society, and an affiliate of Gladden Community House.
She is survived by four children and their spouses, Robert and Priscilla Conard of Guilford, CT, Connie and Louise Williams of Grove City, Rita and Matt Orndorf of Columbus, and Bud and Debbie Conard of Orient; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; a special cousin, Delmar Wilson of McConnelsville; and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry K. Conard; an infant son, Roger; and two brothers, John and Homer Lawrence.
Calling hours were held Sunday at the Rutherford-Shroyer Funeral Home in Columbus with private funeral services.
Rodney L. Pettet
Rodney L. Pettet, 62, of 7029 Morganville Road, Malta, formerly of Senecaville, died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2004 at his residence.
He was born Oct. 14, 1941, in Morgan County, the son of Worley B. and Mae Nelson Pettet.
He was an electrician at BAILLC of Byesville and was a Navy veteran. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders and Exhibitors Association. He was also a member of the Cambridge Eagles Club.
He is survived by his widow, Eileen Roach Pettet; a daughter, Michelle Bobo of Philo; two sons, David Lee and Rodney Levi Pettet of the home; two stepdaughters, Carol Westfall and Lisa Lemon, both of Malta; three stepsons, Christopher Lemon and Blaine Lemon, both of Malta, and Jesse Lemon of Stockport; nine grandchildren; five sisters, Flossie Dailey and Juanita Van Horn, both of McConnelsville, Ruth Veyon of Malta, Marjorie Heinie of Winterset, and Judy Bizic of Cadiz.
He was preceded in death by his father, Worley B. Pettet; his mother, Leona Mae Nelson Pettet; and an infant brother, Raymond Pettet.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Zion Christian Union Church in Portersville, with Pastor Sam Edgell officiating. Burial was in Locust Grove Cemetery. Military services were conducted by the Morgan County Veterans Group. Miller-Huck Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Louise McCullough
Louise K. McCullough, 96, of Old Saybrook, CT, died at 3:18 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2004, at Gladeview Health Care Center in Old Sunnybrook.
She was born March 29, 1908, in Waterford to Joseph L. and O'Tillia Schwendeman Kern.
Mrs. McCullough lived in Washington County most of her life, moving to Columbus in June of 1994 and then to Connecticut in August of 2003. She had worked as a sales clerk for Bonham's Department Store for 13 years. Mrs. McCullough was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Catholic Women's Club, and was a very active volunteer at the church.
She is survived by two daughters, Janet Moore of Gahanna, and Elaine Bristol of Clinton, CT; six grandchildren, Sabrina (Adam) Bristol Marsh, Scott Bristol, Brian Moore, Andrea (David) Moore Helms, Stephanie Moore, and Cindy Moore; two sisters, Alma Blouir of Marietta and Rita Miller of Beverly; and one brother, Ambrose Kern of Marietta.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Aloysius McCullough, on Jan. 7, 1980. They were married on Feb. 19, 1941. Two brothers, Andrew and Paul Kern, and one sister, Anna Bradfield, also preceded her in death.
Funeral liturgy with Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Monsignor John Michael Campbell as celebrant. Burial will follow in New St. Mary's Cemetery. Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Homes was in charge of the service.
Ricky R. Losey
Ricky R. Losey, 29, of Athens, formerly of Glouster, died Saturday, May 22, 2004, at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital.
Arrangements will be announced by Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home.
Lillian Teisinger
Lillian Illene McElfresh Teisinger, 81, of Zanesville, formerly of Dillon Falls Road, died at 5:55 a.m. Sunday, May 23, 2004, at Genesis Extended Care Rehabilitation Center in Zanesville following a lengthy illness.
She was born on Thursday, July 27, 1922, in Pennsville, a daughter of Joseph W. and Mary E. Persinger McElfresh.
She was a member of Central Trinity United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and a homemaker and loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by one daughter, Jean (Charles) Murphy of Zanesville; three grandchildren, Jeffrey D. Paul, Vincent E. (Kristy) Paul, and Angela K. (Ron) Woosley, all of Zanesville; three great-grandchildren, Kelsey Woosley and Lauren and Madison Paul; and three sisters, Helen E. Rutter, Kathryn P. Murphy, and Margaret J. Brooks, all of Zanesville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Teisinger, who died on June 17, 2002; six brothers, Donald R. Baker, Pat K., Harry K., Clarence "Bill," George F. and Nathan C. McElfresh; and one sister, A. Louella Clifton.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hillis and Hardwick Funeral Home, with Rev. Thomas England officiating. Burial will be at Zanesville Memorial Park.
Lester Lee ‘Jim’ Koon
Lester Lee "Jim" Koon, 70, of Silver Globe Road, Marietta, was pronounced dead on arrival at 9:09 a.m. Sunday, May 23, 2004, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 23, 1934, at Briggs Hill, Washington County, a son of the late Jacob and Mary Francis Koon.
He attended Belpre schools and later served in the U.S. Army in Germany. Following his return from the service, he was employed at the Hall Grindstone Co. in the quarries. He enjoyed gardening and making wooden objects of various kinds.
On Jan. 19, 1963, he married Betty Vannoy, who survives with three sons, Jeff Koon of the home, Joe Koon and his wife, Carole, of Warren Chapel Road, Marietta, and Jack Koon and his wife, Lisa, of Waterford; one daughter, Joan Koon and her fiancé, Christopher Robinson, of Marietta; and his adopted family, John and Barbara Hoffman and their daughter, Makayla Hoffman, of Columbus.
He is also survived by three grandchildren, Stephanie Koon, Marissa Koon, and Taylor Koon; four sisters, Louise Cooper of Belpre, Glendora Johnson and her husband, Warren, of Marietta, Betty Schau of Lowell, and Shirley Carter of Marietta; one brother, Carroll Koon and his wife, Joyce, of Fleming; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son who died in infancy; two brothers, Bob Koon and Richard Koon; and two sisters, Ruth Friend and Eileen Kidder.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home in Marietta. Interment will be in Gravel Bank Cemetery with military rites. Friends may call until the hour of the services at the funeral home.
