Alice J. Lefferts
THOMPSON - Alice Jane Lefferts, 74, died Friday, March 28, 2003, at UHHS Geauga Regional Hospital in Claridon Township.
She was born Oct. 10, 1928, in Cleveland, the daughter of George and Edna (Milligan) Kothera. Mrs. Lefferts moved to Thompson in 1996 after living in Troy Township for 38 years.
She was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, flower gardening (African violets) and traveling.
She was a member of Mentor Headlands Club, the Troy Ladies, and was a Girl Scout leader in Burton.
Survivors include her husband, Elroy Lefferts, whom she married July 2, 1949, in Cleveland; son, Elroy Lefferts Jr. of Garrettsville; daughter, Deborah Jennemann of Southington; brother, Norman Kothera of Cairo, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Ethan Lefferts and Andrew Jennemann Jr.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Paul Kothera.
No service will be observed. Burial will be in Middlefield Cemetery, Middlefield.
Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Russell Golden Rule Funeral Service, 15670 W. High St., Middlefield.
Connie Marie Wilson
THOMPSON TOWNSHIP - Connie Marie Wilson, 57, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at UHHS Geauga Regional Hospital, Claridon Township.
Born in Painesville on Feb. 8, 1944, she was a daughter of Herman James and Virginia June (Ford) Halfhill and was a lifelong Thompson area resident. She married Leonard Virgil Wilson on Jan. 29, 1968.
Connie worked at Rayon in Chardon from 1966 to 1967. She also was a waitress at Granny's Restaurant in Madison from 1986 to 1989 and a food server at Kentucky Fried Chicken, Chardon, from 1990 to 2000. She also worked in Chardon cleaning offices.
Mrs. Wilson was a member of Thompson United Methodist Church, and the Thursday Morning Ladies and Sunday Night Mixed Bowling Leagues, Chardon. Besides bowling, she enjoyed gardening, crocheting and playing Bingo.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Mitchell Eugene of Madison; two daughters, Melinda Jane Kennedy of Madison and June Marie Wilson, serving the U.S. Navy in Puerto Rico; five grandchildren, Breanna, Rebekkah and Mitchell E. Wilson, and Emily and Corbin Kennedy; her mother of Thompson; two brothers, James Halfhill of Linesville, Pa., and Thomas Halfhill of Tucson, Ariz.; and a sister, Bonnie Rierson of Tucson, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Service is 10 a.m. Tuesday at Thompson United Methodist Church, 6758 Madison Road, Thompson Township, with the Rev. Harley Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Thompson Township
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Ritondaro Funeral Home, 126 South St., Chardon.
Thomas R. Morris Sr.
THOMPSON - Thomas R. Morris Sr., 59, of Thompson, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, as a result of an auto accident.
He was born July 19, 1942 in Bouton, the son of Bill and Jessie Morris.
Mr. Morris worked maintenance at area golf courses. He was president of Warren Deaf Club, Wheeling W. VA. Deaf Club and loved outdoors and camping.
Survivors include two daughters; Tammy Phillips of Geneva, Betsy Ross of Thompson, three sons; Kenny Atkins of Columbus, Randy of Florida and Thomas Jr of Geneva, step-brother; Ray Reynolds of California and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte, in 1999 and his parents.
Service will be Thursday at 10 a.m., at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Madison.
Calling hours are 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Harley W. Valentine
THOMPSON TOWNSHIP - Harley W. Valentine, 81, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, in LakeEast Hospital, Painesville.
He was born Nov. 25, 1919, in Painesville, the son of Dwight and Anna (Littler) Valentine.
Mr. Valentine was a lifelong resident of Thompson.
He was a graduate of Harvey High School.
Mr. Valentine was a member of the Thompson Volunteer Fire Department for 50 years and served as assistant fire chief for many years. He was a self-employed carpenter.
Mr. Valentine was a member of Leroy Heritage Association. His hobbies included woodcrafting and maple syrup production.
Survivors include; his wife, Edith (Toivonen), whom he married on Feb. 14, 1959.; and a daughter, Lisa Lorenzo of Willoughby.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Verna Fyfe.
Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Thompson Township

Esther M. Beck
THOMPSON TOWNSHIP - Esther May Beck, 77, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002, at LakeEast Hospital, Painesville.
Born Nov. 10, 1924, in Painesville, she was a daughter of William Paul and Florence (Rand) Neubert and was a lifelong Thompson area resident.
She married Mike Beck in 1946, in Chardon.
Mrs. Beck worked as a shipper at Perfection Pipe and Nipple Co., for 36 years, retiring in 1982.
She was a charter member of South Madison Baptist Church and its Ladies Missionary Committee. She was a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher. She also was a former stock-car driver.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Lee Jordan of Thompson Township, and Ruth Ann Davis of Athens, Texas; five grandchildren, Vera Reece, Tracy and Laura Jordan, and Mike and Mark Davis; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on Sept. 6, 1996; a son, Mike Beck Jr., in 1970; two sisters, Betty Zadnik and Frances Barber; and two brothers, Walter and John Neubert.
Service is 10 a.m. Saturday at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Thompson Township.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Esther Barbara I. Newman (nee: Irwin)

Services: Memorial Mass Saturday, September 11 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of the Divine Word Catholic Church, 8100 Eagle Road, Kirtland. Private family burial will be held at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon Twp.

Mrs. Newman was a homemaker for most of her life venturing out into the business world in the 1970’s. She was a Docket Clerk at the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court, retiring in 1986. She enjoyed family, friends, reading and was considered an expert at crossword puzzles. She was a previous member of St. Ann’s Parish, Christ the King Parish, St. John Vianney Parish and St. Gabriel Parish. The family is extremely appreciative of the love and care given to Mrs. Newman by her friends at Western Reserve Extended Care. She is survived by her daughters Catherine C. (Mack) McCoy of Jerusalem, Israel, Martha J. Newman of Willoughby, Phyllis M. (Edward) Shannon of Chesterland, Janet C. (Bob) Sherlin of Ft. Myers, FL, sons Donald J. (Judy) Newman of Phoeniz, AZ, Paul A. (Merrilou) Newman of Hambden Twp., Robert S. Newman of Modesto, CA and Richard S. (Amy) Newman of Oakland, CA, grandchildren Jane Newman, Barbara (Bryan) Jacobs, Ryan Newman, Kelly (Dave) Payne, Terri Newman, Jennifer (Paul) D’Astolfo, Juliana McCoy, David McCoy, Niki Newman, Danny McCoy, Jennifer Shannon, Matthew Newman, Teddy Shannon and Joseph Newman; great grandchildren Mateo, Alyssa and Amanda. Many Nieces, nephews and friends. Her husband Robert Stanley Newman parents Walter James and Esther (nee: Murray) Irwin are deceased. Shirley M. Marmon

Visitation: Noon to 1:00 pm at the Funeral Home .
She was a member of PEO Chapter in Chardon, a charter member with her husband of the Legend Lake Golf Club in Chardon and an avid reader. Survivors include her daughter Linda (Roger) Goldenbogen of Sagamore Hills, grandchildren Kathy (Steven) Fellinger of Kirtland and Scott (Chris) Goldenbogen of Brewster; great grandchildren Ashley, Taylor, Alexa Goldenbogen and Nathan and Alex Fellinger. Her husband Leon H. Marmon and her parents Harold and Doris (Nee: Mollon) Henry are deceased.
