BURTON - Memorial service for Olive Samuel, 91, who died Jan. 8, 2001, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Burton Congregational Church, located on the square in Burton.
The Rev. Harry Buch will officiate.

Myron Vesley
BURTON TOWNSHIP - Myron Vesley, 84, died Sunday, March 25, 2001, at Burton Health Care.
Born April 25, 1916, in Cleveland, he was a son of Joseph and Josephine (Hodus) Vesley. He was a lifelong resident of the Newbury and Burton areas.
He was a 1932 graduate of Newbury High School.
He was married to Rose Mejstrik for 59 years.
He was a machinist at TRW for 31 years, retiring in 1973.
He was a member of Newbury United Community Church and the Village Lodge 274 F.AM. of Burton.
He enjoyed playing the button key accordion and had played at many area functions, entertaining people for all occasions. He loved attending the Great Geauga County Fair and had gone every year from the age of 9 until a year or so ago.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Ronald Vesley of Burton; two daughters, Dolores Jaskulski of Sarasota, Fla. and Gloria Penix of Walton Hills; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Joseph; and one grandson.
Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Russell Golden Rule Funeral Service, 15670 W. High St., Middlefield. The Rev. Brian Bagley-Bonner of the Newbury United Community Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Newbury Center Cemetery.
Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
John B. Dennis
BURTON - John B. Dennis, 87, of Burton, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at Burton Health Care in Burton.
He was born April 20, 1914, in Indianapolis, Ind., the son of Mark and Ethel (Blacklidge) Dennis. He had lived in Burton since 1950, coming here from the Canton area.
An Indiana University graduate and chemist, he formerly worked at Goodrich Rubber in Akron, Battelle Institute in Columbus, Johnson Rubber in Middlefield and - most recently - at Chardon Rubber, where he worked 30 years prior to retirement in 1979.
He married the former Meta Klenk on Oct. 25, 1947, in Tiffin.
He enjoyed gardening, protecting the environment and classical music.
He was a member of Burton Congregational Church, the Burton Chamber of Commerce, a life member of the Indiana University Alumni, the American Chemical Society's rubber division and a life member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Survivors include his wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Roger Klenk Dennis, in 1962.
Service is 1 p.m. Feb. 2, at the Burton Congregational Church, 14558 Park St., Burton. Harry Buch, pastor, will officiate. Per the family's request, cremation will occur.
Family and friends will gather in the church hall after the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Geauga Park District or the Reading Garden Fund at the Burton Public Library.

Helen K. Elliott
BURTON TOWNSHIP - Helen K. Elliott, 91, formerly of Cleveland, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at UHHS Geauga Regional Hospital in Claridon Township.
The daughter of Alfred and Daisy (Snook) Bings, she was born Sept. 13, 1909, in Luverne Township, Md.
Mrs. Elliott was a homemaker, and enjoyed crocheting, gardening, baking and telling stories.
Survivors include one son, William E. of Burton Township; three daughters: Helen G. Zaborowski of Cleveland, Mary L. Hensler of Pocomoke, Md., and Joan Konegni of Chesterland; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred E. Elliott, whom she married in February 1940.
Services will be held at a later date.
Contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Loretta M. Laforce
BURTON - Loretta M. Laforce, 64, of Burton, died Monday evening, March 18, 2002, at UHHS Geauga Regional Hospital in Claridon Township.
She was born Jan. 21, 1938, in Willoughby, the daughter of Elmer C. and Josephine (Derk) Saunders. She moved to the Burton area in 1978 from Willoughby.
A homemaker, she was a 1955 graduate of Willoughby Union High School and a member of the Willoughby United Methodist Church.
She married Dan Laforce in 1959.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed baking, cooking, bird-watching, writing letters and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Darren Laforce of Burton; daughters Amy Reinhart of Middlefield, and Karen Pierce and Darleen DeJesus, both of Burton; sisters Martha Fehlman of Mayfield Heights, and H. Louise Saunders of California; and 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Elmer C. Saunders, Jr.
Service is 8 p.m. Friday at the Russell Golden Rule Funeral Service, 15670 W. High St., Middlefield. D. Ray Mullet of Burton will officiate.
Calling hours at the funeral home is 6 p.m. Friday until the time of service.
Thelma F. Peine
Born: January 12, 1925
Died: June 27, 2004
Services: Wednesday, June 30, at 11:00 AM at Chardon United Methodist Church, 515 North St., Chardon.
Visitation: Tuesday, June 29, 7-9 PM at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St, (On Rt. 44, 500’ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon Wednesday, June 30, 10-11:00 AM at the church.
A long time member of the Chardon United Methodist Church, where she was active in the United Methodist Women’s Guild and sang in the church choir. Mrs. Peine had been a volunteer at both Geauga Community Hospital and the Painesville YMCA. Mrs. Peine attended Chardon High School in the Class of 1944. She had been a member of the former Progress-Research Club and enjoyed playing pinochle with the Wilder Park Pinochle Club. Susvivors include her husband Lester Peine of Chardon Twp., daughters, Karen (Richard) Knierim of Mentor, Connie (Dr. Warren) Williams of Matthews, NC, sons, Rev. Leslie (Beryl) Peine of Canton, William (Susan) Peine of McLean, Virginia grandchildren Mark Peine, Susan Peine, Sarah Oldham, Kenneth, Keith and Kathy Knierim, Nathan Peine Colin and Ian Lasch, sisters, Viola Jameson of Chardon, and Ruth Smith of Westlake. His parents John H. and Rosa (Nee: DeWitt) Collins, brothers Curtis, Alva, Charles, Richard, and Pirl Collins and sisters Edith Shreiner and Alice Wilson are all deceased. donations are suggested to the Building Fund of the Chardon United Methodist Church, 515 North St., Chardon, OH.

Services: Saturday, JULY 10, at 3:00 PM at Chardon Kingdom Hall, Corner of South St. (Rt. 44) and Bass Lake Road, 2 miles south of Rt.6/Chardon Square) Chardon.
Visitation: The family will host a gathering for friends, food and fellowship at the Munson Fire Department, 12200 Auburn Road, Chardon, OH, beginning at 4:30 PM.
He was an active member of the Chardon Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Mr. Spear was the Valedictorian of Newbury High School, Class of 1958.
