John M. Patterson
TROY TOWNSHIP - John M. Patterson, 83, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, at UHHS Geauga Regional Hospital in Claridon Township.
He was born Sept. 28, 1917, in Springfield, Mass., the son of Henry and Mae (Daugherty) Patterson, and had lived in the area 55 years.
He served with the Army in Africa during World War II, and was a draftsman for Wean Engineering Co., in Warren for 30 years.
He married the former Iris McDivitt on Jan. 31, 1942.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed gardening and drawing.
Survivors include three sons: Thomas of Medina, Michael of Middlefield and Daniel of West Farmington; and two daughters: Karen Jeannine Thompson of Montville and Anita Colleen Anderson of Garrettsville.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Parkman Congregational Church in Parkman. Gerald Sanders, pastor, will officiate.
There will be no calling hours. Per his wishes, the deceased will be cremated.

Bobby H. McMahan
MIDDLEFIELD - Bobby H. McMahan, 62, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at his residence, of a probable heart attack.
He was born Feb. 16, 1940, in Greensboro, N.C., to Henry Dallas McMahan and Bessie Holder. He lived in Middlefield 15 years.
Mr. McMahan was a self-employed Amish taxi driver for many years.
He enjoyed fishing, leather crafts and working on cars.
Survivors include sons Jesse of Orwell, Brian of Middlefield, and Bobby and Steve of Greensboro, N.C.; a daughter, Debbie Haynes, also of Greensboro; a brother, Jim McMahan of Saybrook Township; and grandchildren Allison, Danielle, Joel and Lydia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jackie Usher, in 1996.
Memorial service is 1 p.m. Friday at Russell Golden Rule Funeral Service, 15670 W. High St., Middlefield, officiated by The Rev. Robert Zinsmiester.
Esther C. Miller
MIDDLEFIELD - Esther C. Miller, 66, of Madison Road, died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at her home.
She was born Nov. 20, 1934, in Parkman Township, the daughter of Crist C. and Ada (Shrock) Miller, and was a lifelong area resident.
Survivors include five sisters, Sarah Miller of Spartansburg, Pa., Alta Weaver of Phoenix, Ariz., Irene Davis of Columbus, Ilene Miller of Middlefield and Mary Hostetler of Middlefield.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Fannie Baumgartner and Ada Miller.
Service is 9:30 a.m. Saturday at 17245 Madison Road, Middlefield. Bishop Jake Byler of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate. Burial will be in Yoder Cemetery, Parkman Township.
Calling hours will be observed any time at the residence.

Robert C. Blair
MIDDLEFIELD - Robert C. Blair, 86, of Middlefield died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at UHHS Geauga Regional Hospital of Claridon Township.
He was born Oct. 13, 1916 in Garrettsville, the son of Roswell P. and Cora E. (Wicks) Blair.
Mr. Blair had been a resident of Middlefield for 54 years.
He married Lucy H. Hoover May 30, 1941 in Middlefield.
Mr. Blair was an office assistant manager at Ravenna Arsenal, DJ at Geauga's first radio station WGLD in Chardon and also did sales work.
He enjoyed music, reading and gardening.
Mr. Blair was a graduate of Parkman High School in 1935 and went to Dyke Business School in Cleveland.
Survivors include wife; two sons, Charles Blair of Middlefield and Roland Blair of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two daughters, Janet Saddler of North Bloomfield, and Lorna Salona of Indianapolis, Ind.; seven brothers, Don, David, Dale, Vernon, Jerry, Roger and Raymond; and two sisters, Evelyn Blair and Dororthy Young; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be at a later date per Mr. Blair's request.

Joe M.V. Miller
MIDDLEFIELD TOWNSHIP - Joe M.V. Miller, 71, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at his home.
He was born July 17, 1930, in Middlefield, the son of Mose Vincent and Anna (Miller) Miller.
Mr. Miller was a lifelong resident of the area.
He married Katie Ann Yoder on Nov. 15, 1956.
Mr. Miller was a factory worker at Middlefield Plastics.
He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, David of Farmington and Freeman of Middlefield; three daughters, Betty Hostetler and Esther Hostetler of Middlefield and Susan Troyer of Farmington and 30 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; a half-brother and half-sister.
Service is 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Dan A. Hostetler residence, Adams Road in Middlefield, with Bishop Melvin R. Byler officiating. Burial will be in Yoder Cemetery, Parkman Township.
Calling hours are anytime at the Dan A. Hostetler residence, 15698 Adams Road, Middlefield.

Charles J. Kane
MIDDLEFIELD TOWNSHIP - Charles J. Kane, 49, of Middlefield Township, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 20, 1953, in Cleveland, the son of J. Joseph and Doris (Horst) Kane.
Mr. Kane move to Middlefield Township eight years ago from Cleveland.
He was employed as a machine operator for various manufacturing plants in the area.
Survivors include eight brothers, James Jr., Patrick, Lawrence, Dennis, Daniel, Michael, John and William; two sisters, his twin, Cecelia Russell, and Dorothy Johnson; and two foster brothers, Thomas and Patrick McLaughlin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Margaret M., and a foster brother, Richard McLaughlin.
Funeral Mass is 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Church, 19951 Lakeshore Blvd., Euclid.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cleveland.

Lydia H. Miller
MIDDLEFIELD - Lydia H. Miller, 79, of Middlefield, died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at her home.
She was born July 16, 1922, in LaGrange, Ind., the daughter of Harvey H. and Lizzie (Lehman) Bowman, and had been a lifelong area resident.
She married Dan E. Miller on Jan. 24, 1946.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Survivors include her husband, Dan; five sons, Harvey Miller of West Farmington, and Eli, Sam, Dan and Amos Miller, all of Middlefield; eight daughters, Lizzie Hershberger of Burton, Fannie Shrock, Lydia Wengerd, Cora Kempf and Mary Kempf, all of Middlefield, and Katie, Anna and Clara, all at home; 81 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four brothers, Joe, Harvey and Eli, all of Millersburg, and Dan of Shipshewana; sisters Anna Miller, Mary Raber, Fannie Wengerd, Elizabeth Miller and Verna Bowman, all of Millersburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.
Service is 9:30 a.m. Friday at the residence, 15267 Hayes Road, Middlefield. Bishop Emanuel Kempf will officiate. Burial will be at the Hayes Road Cemetery in Middlefield.
Visitation will be held at the residence, and friends can call anytime.
