Andrew D. Braden
CONCORD - Andrew D. Braden, 86, of Johnnycake Ridge Road, died Sunday, March 30, 2003, at Altercare of Mentor.
He was born July 22, 1916, in Gustavus, to David W. Sr. and Edith (Hobart) Braden. He was a former Cleveland resident who lived in Concord five years.
Mr. Braden was a 1935 graduate of Kinsman High School and a 1939 graduate of Kent State University. He later obtained his master’s degree in business administration from the former Western Reserve University.
He passed his CPA examination and worked for a short time at Ernst and Ernst, Cleveland.
Mr. Braden became a professor of accounting at Case Western Reserve University and later served as assistant dean of the business school. He was popular with his students and retired in 1988 after more than 40 years of teaching. The university conferred on him the rank of full professor and endowed a fund in his name.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Braden enjoyed competing in card games, golf and softball, and served as pitcher for the university’s faculty team. He loved reading and read often to his children and grandchildren.
He married Betty Beiter Aug. 20, 1939.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Cinda Morgan of Orange, Calif.; two sons, Eric Braden of Denver, and Christopher Braden of Perry; a sister, Mary B. Thrasher of Painesville; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Wallace, Kenneth, Clark, David and George Braden; and three sisters, Winifred Walton, Laura Sipps and Lenore Cole.
Graveside service is 11 a.m. Saturday at Kinsman Cemetery, on Church Street in Kinsman. No calling hours will be held.

Lillian E. Allmon
CARROLLTON - Lillian Edith Allmon, 81, of Carrollton, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at her home.
She was born June 18, 1921, in Conneaut, the daughter of John and Emma (Ericson) Rintanen.
She was a 1939 graduate of Conneaut High School and was the class valedictorian. She also completed Erie Business College.
She married William T. Allmon on Nov. 4, 1944.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carrollton, where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She was also a charter member of the Carrollton chapter of the Child Conservation League.
Survivors include two sons, David Allmon of Chardon, and Thomas Allmon of West Linn, Ore.; a daughter, Kathleen Stoneman of Carrollton; a sister, Edna Kieser of Vinton, Va.; and four grandchildren, Jesse Burke-Allmon, Dylan Burke-Allmon, Ethan Stoneman and Maureen Stoneman.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Edwin Rintanen.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Carrollton. The Rev. Charles Naylor and the Rev. Mark Statler will officiate. Burial will be at Westview Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, William T. Allmon Scholarship Fund, Carroll County Hospice, or the Carroll County Visiting Nurses.

Andy E. Byler
QUAKER CITY - Andy E. Byler, 78, of Calais Road in Quaker City, died early Wednesday morning, Oct. 2, 2002, at his home.
He was born Sept. 2, 1924, in Middlefield, the son of Eli J. and Lydia (Weaver) Byler.
He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah D., whom he married on Feb. 21, 1946; four sons, Joe Byler, Jake Byler and Andy Byler, all of Middlefield, and Dan Byler of Summerfield; four daughters, Esther Kauffman of Middlefield, Betty Miller of Clymer, N.Y., Mary Miller of Quaker City, and Sarah Gingerich of Woodsfield; two brothers, Ben E. Byler and Joe E. Byler, both of Middlefield; four sisters, Jemima Troyer of Middlefield, Emma Hostetler of Spartansburg, Pa., and Clara Coblentz and Lydia Troyer, both of Jackson Center, Pa.; 63 grandchildren and 100 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, two sisters, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Service is 10 a.m. Friday at the family residence, 54117 Calais Road, Quaker City. Burial will be at the Amish Cemetery near Calais.
Calling hours at the residence are anytime today and Thursday.
The Watters Funeral Home in Woodsfield is in charge of arrangements.
Lawrence J. Muetzel
VALLEY VIEW - Lawrence J. Muetzel, 75, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002 at his home.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Muetzel is survived by his wife, Ruth; a daughter, Linda J. Nichols of Austinburg Township; a son, Larry J.; four grandchildren, Ryan and Carly Muetzel and Michael and Jillian Nichols; and two brothers, Donald and Gerald.
Services at Valley View Woods are planned at a future date. Donations forwarded to Ruth Muetzel in Mr. Muetzel's memory will be used to beautify Valley View Woods.
The Nosek and Sons Funeral Home, 8150 Brecksville Road, Brecksville, has charge of the arrangements.
Dempsey Powell Sailes Sr.
CHERRY VALLEY TOWNSHIP - Dempsey Powell Sailes Sr., 80, of St. Rt. 193, Cherry Valley Township, 6_4__Sailes, _Sr__eps died Sunday afternoon, June 1, 2003, at his residence.
Mr. Sailes was born in Montgomery, AL, on July 10, 1922. The only child born to the late Scott Sailes Sr. and Annie Powell Wiley. He attended St. John's Catholic School in Montgomery. Dempsey moved to Cleveland in 1940, where he met and married Minnie Louise Conley on April 25, 1946. To this union were born five children.
Mr. Sailes was a 37 year employee of TRW in Euclid, retiring in 1982. He moved his family to Cherry Valley Township in 1964. He loved hunting, gardening, and entertaining family and friends on his farm. He loved the peacefulness of country living. The Jehovah's Witnesses came by to have Bible studies with his wife, and he often joined in.
He leaves, to cherish his memories, his wife, Minnie; four sons, Dempsey P. (Mildred) Sailes Jr. of Memphis, TN, Alan T. Sailes of Cleveland, Bradley J. (Willie) Sailes of Williamsfield Township, and Earl Scott Sailes of Andover; a daughter, Sandra K. Sailes Williams of Kent; ten grandchildren, Calvin, Melvin, Damon, Marc, Denise, Tishia, Tiffany, Earl Jr., Aundria, and Christina; fifteen great-grandchildren; and a host of in-laws, nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2003, at the Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson Street, Jefferson, with his son Dempsey Sailes Jr. leading the services. Burial will be in Cherry Valley Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be held following the burial, at the Cherry Valley Township Hall.
Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2003, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 12200 Fairhill Road, Cleveland, OH 44120.
Mary Elizabeth Wright
VENICE, FL - Mary Elizabeth Wright, 87, of Nokomis, FL, formerly of Jefferson, OH, died Monday, June 2, 2003, in Nokomis, FL.
Born on November 3, 1915, in Euclid, she was a resident of Jefferson until 1995, moving to Nokomis, FL. While living in Jefferson, she was a bookkeeper for a building supply company.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Nokomis, FL.
Survivors include two daughters, JoAnn Klasen Harris Schauber of Venice, FL, and Roberta Klasen Cheney Hanson of Nokomis, FL; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Clayton Wright, in August of 1998; one sister; and five brothers.

Mary MacRitchie
NORTH OLMSTED - Mary MacRitchie, 77, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at Manor Care Health Center, North Olmsted.
She was born Aug. 15, 1925, in Steubenville, to Wilbur McKendree and Mary Kelly. She lived in North Olmsted 10 years, moving there from Chardon.
Mrs. MacRitchie and her husband owned and operated their own company in Toledo before retiring to Chardon. She also had been an executive secretary for a credit agency.
She enjoyed bowling.
Survivors include a son, Daryl of Cleveland; a daughter, Deborah Roscoe, also of Cleveland; and grandchildren David, Deana, Christian, Wayne, Corey, Aimee and Leah.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; son Dermit; a brother, William Kelly; and a sister, Wanda Youngs.
Memorial service is 2 p.m. Sunday at the Ritondaro Funeral Home, 126 South St., Chardon, officiated by the Rev. E. Tom Boytar of Word of Faith Church. Burial is at Solon Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at time of service only.
