John W. Wasdovich
GATES MILLS - John W. Wasdovich, 81, died Monday, June 3, 2002, at the Brecksville V.A. Hospital.
He was born Sept. 26, 1920 in Hazelton, Pa., to Anna and Michael Wasdovich. He married Anna Halt Jan. 8, 1944, and they were married 45 years. He married Juanita Doran July 18, 1992, and they spent the years together until he became ill with Alzheimer's disease.
Mr. Wasdovich served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving as a captain with the 277 Battalion and in France.zz
He was well-known as the "Pie Man." He worked for Mrs. Wagner Pies in Cleveland and New Jersey, later renamed Lynn Foods Corp. after Mr. Wasdovich's oldest daughter.
Mr. Wasdovich was a councilman in the Westfield-Mountainside area of New Jersey and ran for mayor. In his later years, he worked as general manager for Mrs. Smith's Pies in Bedford Heights.
He was an avid golfer and bowler. He was also an active member of the Euclid Exchange Club for many years. He served terms as its president and also was president of West Virginia Exchange Clubs. He was instrumental in starting Exchange Clubs in the Ashtabula area. He was also a member of the Bakery Executives Association.
Mr. Wasdovich was an active member of St. Stephen Byzantine Catholic Church in Euclid. He was one of the 18 founders of the church and was a cantor at the weekly mass.
Survivors include his wife Juanita; daughters Diane, Leigh Ann Pasanen and JoAnn Vidmar; grandchildren Carleigh Pasanen, Baileigh Pasanen and Cory Michael Vidmar; and brother Joseph.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ann, brother Michael and sister Julia Surso.
Service is 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Stephen Byzantine Catholic Church, 532 Lloyd Road, Euclid. Entombment will be in All Souls Cemetery, Chardon.
Visitation is 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Brickman and Sons Funeral Home, 21900 Euclid Ave., Euclid.

Janice M. Dean
DUBLIN - Janice Mae "Gra" Craig Dean, 70, died Monday, June 3, 2002.
She was born June 3, 1932, in Cork, to Maynard D. and Nellie Kirby Craig.
Mrs. Dean was married to David C. Dean 49 years. They lived in Harpersfield Township until moving to Cape Coral, Fla.
She was active in many organizations and was a Realtor for many years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband; children Rita Mohrmann of Marietta, Ga., Thomas Dean of Cape Coral, Fla., Curtis Dean of Cape Coral, Fla., Pamela Duren of Dublin and Peggy Dean of Dublin; and 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and son Randal Paul Dean.
A private memorial will be for the immediate family.
The Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell, 450 W. Olentangy St., Powell, is handling arrangements.
Evelyn Heath
GARRETTSVILLE - Evelyn Heath, 87, of Garrettsville, died Monday, June 3, 2002, at her home.
She was born March 7, 1915, in Cleveland, the daughter of Frank and Janet (Beschek) Mara, and moved to Garrettsville from Middlefield six years ago.
A homemaker, she married Clifford Heath on April 15, 1933.
Survivors include a son, Marvin of Middlefield; a daughter, Carolyn Ruple of Garrettsville; a sister, Dorothy Talboo of Florida; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and sisters Ruth Yesiolowski and Rose Stewart.
Service is 8:30 p.m. today at the Russell Funeral Service, 15670 W. High St., Middlefield. The Rev. William Norman, of the First United Methodist Church in Middlefield, will officiate. At the deceased's request, cremation will take place. Burial will be at a later date.
Calling hours are 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
William T. Allmon
CARROLLTON - William Thomas Allmon, 80, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at his residence.
He was born March 23, 1921, in Bergholz, the son of Andrew Roy and Henrietta (Connor) Allmon.
Mr. Allmon graduated from Carrollton High School in 1939.
He worked at the Timken Co., Canton, then founded the Allmon Funeral Home with his father and brother, Gerald.
Mr. Allmon entered in the U.S. Navy in 1942, serving with the Seabees until his honorable discharge in 1945.
While in the Navy, he attended the Ohio Weslyan University.
He married Lillian E. Rintanen on Nov. 4, 1944.
He worked at JC Penny's, Rhuark's Pharmacy, and the post office before he entered the service and after he was discharged from the Navy.
Mr. Allmon attended McKinley Law School, Canton, taking night classes from 1946 to 1950, when he received his law degree. He began his law practice in Carrollton in June 1950 and served as a probate and juvenile judge from 1951 to 1959.
He was appointed assistant state welfare director under Gov. Lausche from 1959 to 1960, and then appointed to fill a term on the Seventh District Court of Appeals on Aug. 11, 1960.
Mr. Allmon returned to the practice of law and opened a law office in Carrollton in 1961. Also in 1961, he was appointed to the Ohio Commission of Children and Youth, where he served as chairman.
From 1963 to 1965, he served as the village solicitor for Carrollton, and from 1965 to 1967 he was a representative from Carroll County to the Ohio General Assembly.
He served as Carroll County judge from 1967 to 1985 and as Carroll County probate and juvenile judge from 1985 to 1991.
Mr. Allmon was a past president of the Carroll County Bar Association, a member of the American and Ohio State Bar Associations, and a former member of the House of Delegates of the Ohio State Bar Association. He was a past member of the Stark County Bar Association, a charter member of the Lion's Club, and was the first president and former member of the Rotary Club. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 428, UMYF leader with his wife, and a Sunday School teacher and lay leader at the at the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, David of Chardon, and Thomas of West Lynn, Ore.; and a daughter, Kathleen of Carrollton; three grandsons, Jesse Burke-Allmon, Dylan Burke-Allmon, and Ethan Stoneman; and a granddaughter, Maureen Stoneman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Gerald B.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Carrollton, with Dr. Charles Naylor and the Rev. Mark Statler officiating. Interment will be in Westview Cemetery, where full military honors will be conducted by the VFW, American Legion, and the Disabled American Veterans.
Calling hours are 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the church.

Virginia M. Summers
YOUNGSTOWN - Virginia M. Summers, 68, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Beeghly Medical Center.
She was born June 29, 1933, in Youngstown, the daughter of Samuel and L. Virginia (Boughner) Krell.
She was a homemaker. She married Charles D. Summers on Oct. 19, 1973
Mrs. Summers was a 30-year member of the Rebekah Lodge, including Rebekah Lodge 719 of Canfield and Struthers Rebekah Lodge 817 of Struthers, where she was Past Noble Grand. She was a past district deputy president of District 7.
She graduated from Chaney High School and also was a member of Springfield Township Historical Society.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Nick Levinsky of Boardman; a daughter, Nikki Lynn Saulino of Ashtabula; three grandchildren, Nick Jr., Amy and Abbey; and six sisters, Shirley Sikora of Austintown, Wanda McKinney of Knox, Pa., Rene Evenson of Fort Collins, Colo., Ruth Holmes of Boaz, Ky., Krista Roman of Paducah, Ky., and Lynn Evenson of Martinez, Calif.
She was preceded in death by parents; and a brother, Mikkel Evenson.
Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Thompson Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Youngstown.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the Rebekah Lodge will conduct a memorial service at 9 p.m.

LeVert Grandberry
SANDUSKY - LeVert Grandberry, 78, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at the Firelands Regional Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 1, 1923, in Banks, Ala., the daughter of Ben and Johnnie DuBose.
She was employed by Belstein Laundry, Classic Nursing Homes, Memorial Hospital, and retired from Sandusky High School.
She was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, where she was a pastor's aide, and on the Mothers Board and the Missionary Board.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Leslie; three sons, the Rev. Louis F. of Ashtabula, and Paul E. and Earl, both of Sandusky; a daughter, Wanda G. Grandberry of Sandusky; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Salome Neal, Johnnie Gossby and Tommie DeShazor; and four brothers, J.B. DuBose, Leonard DuBose, Ora DuBose, and Fred DuBose.
Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1920 Shelby St., Sandusky, with the Rev. Eddy Henry officiating. Interment will be in Meadow Green Cemetery, Huron.

Arthur C. Bohon
HARPERSFIELD TOWNSHIP - Arthur C. Bohon, 76, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, at the Cleveland Clinic.
He was born April 6, 1925, in Denver, W. Va., the son of John and Beatrice (Bolyard) Bohon.
On June 13, 1947, he married the former Josephine (Judy) Bennett.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and received the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, and the World War II Victory Ribbon.
Before moving to Ashtabula in 1954, he worked in the coal mines of West Virginia and was a Sunday School teacher at the West End United Brethren Church of Denver, W.Va. Mr. Bohon retired from Union Carbide of Ashtabula, where he was a furnace operator.
He was a member of American Legion Post 103 of Ashtabula.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter Connie McKinney of Vinton, Ohio; three grandchildren Marvin McKinney, Carrie Eager and Tammy Klasen; and two great-grandchildren, Jacob Eager and Savanah Klasen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Paul; and two sisters Catherine Keener and Evelyn Hess.
Service will be 1 p.m. Sunday at the James Lobb Funeral Home in Kingwood, W. Va., with the Rev. Mary Conley officiating. Burial will follow in Shays Chapel Cemetery of Preston County, W. Va.
