Patrick F. Love, 77, Footville-Richmond Rd., Lenox Twp., died early Thursday morning in the Hospice Unit at the Ashtabula Co. Medical Center following a serious illness.
He was born August 2, 1929 in Stevens Point, WI, the son of Frank & Therese (Roecklein) Love and has lived in Ashtabula Co. for many years. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin. He was married to Linda L. Davis on October 12, 2002 in Niagara Falls. Mr. Love was a 26-year employee with National Engineering of Ohio, retiring in 1986.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Davis Love, four children, Therese Love of Geneva, Annette (Ernie) Lupoli of Pennsylvania & Michael & James Love, both of Geneva, four step-children, Belinda (Marc) Nichols of Geneva, Tereasa Davis of Parma, Faith (Jeremy) Sutch of Austinburg Twp. & Leona (Edwin) Pawlowski of Pierpont Twp., seven grandchildren, seven step-grandsons, five great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandson, & two sisters, Catherine (John F.) Mosey & Rosemarie (Terrill) Menzel, both of Stevens Point, WI. He also leaves behind many lifelong friends he was close with.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Patrick F. Love, II, his first wife, Ida Mae (Richard) Love and a brother, Jack A. Love.
Mr. Love attended the Lenox Federated Church, was an avid duck hunter, enjoyed golfing & fishing, loved the outdoors, had his favorite dog, Raleigh, enjoyed all sports and working his small farm. He was known to all as a true gentleman with the utmost integrity and love. Pat Love was a very loved man and will be missed by all.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P. M. Monday at the Jefferson Home of the Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 49 W. Jefferson with Pastor Michael Williams of the Lenox Federated Church officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Geneva
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 P. M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, OH 44004, envelopes will also be at the funeral home.
James Benze

James G. Benze, 93, former Saybrook Twp. And Geneva resident, died Thursday morning at the Altenheim Skilled Nursing Center in Strongsville.
He was born August 29, 1913 in Erie, PA, the son of Otto & Estelle (Hess) Benze and was a resident of Saybrook Twp. and Geneva up until 2000, before moving to Chardon, Parma and then Strongsville.
Mr. Benze was a veteran of the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was a 46 year employee of CEI, retiring in 1977. He was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Madison.
Survivors include three children, Mary Jo Pelley of Pasadena, MD, James G. Benze, Jr. of Bethel Park, PA & Ted Benze of Parma, five grandchildren, Charles A. Jr. & Tim Pelley, Jay Benze, C. J. & Jon Benze and a great-grandson, Matthew Cole.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary C. (Foster) Benze, a son, Bruce R. Benze, brother, John Benze and four sisters, Leona Kistler, Alice Hess, Estelle Benze & Elizabeth Knuebel.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 A. M. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3030 McMakin Rd., Madison with the Rev. Howard Davis officiating. Burial will be in Saybrook Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Monday from 4-6 P. M. at the Ashtabula Home of the Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 526 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula and Tuesday from 10-11 A. M. at the church. Joan M. Ahola

Joan M. Ahola, 75 of Lenox-New Lyme Rd. Lenox Twp. died Monday (Feb. 20th) at her home. She was born June 24, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio the daughter of Ed and Mildred (Collier) Schubert and has been an area resident for 75 years.
She had worked at General Electric and at Kenametal for six years. She enjoyed golfing, gardening and sewing.
Surviving her are three children, Tom (Patricia) Ahola of Jefferson, Patti (Russell) Shelton of Greene, Ohio and Terry (Laura) Ahola of Grants Pass, Oregon; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Howard W. Ahola in 2003; a brother, Ed Schubert and two sisters, Lois Brzyscz and June Schubert.
Private family services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave. Ashtabula, Ohio 44004. Cory J. Cunningham, 15 of Route #193 Denmark, Twp. died Sunday (Feb. 11th) at his home. He was born January 19, 1992 in Ashtabula the son of Carl and Janet (Treadway) Cunningham and has been a lifetime area resident.
Cory is a 9th grade student at Edgewood High School. He is on both the Soccer and Track team. He enjoys fishing, camping, the beach, riding four wheelers and playing Play Station with his cousin, Ryan and his friends.
Surviving him are his parents; his paternal grandparents; Roberta Svenson of Denmark Twp; and Gene & Betsy Cunningham of Lexington, South Carolina; maternal grandparents, Basil and Ruby Treadway of Oak Hill, West Va.; Great grandmother, Pauline Hadley of Kingsville; his Uncle, Craig Svenson of Orlando, Florida; Aunt and Uncle Stacy and Kelle Nelson of Kingsville and several other aunts and uncles and several cousins.
Funeral services will be Friday (Feb. 16th) at 11:00 AM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula with Rev. Aletta Burkholder of the Bulah Calvary United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville.
Calling hours will be Thursday (Feb. 15th) from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions in Cory’s memory can be to a Memorial Scholarship in memory of Cory Cunningham % U.S.Bank. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Mary Katherine Mikos

Mary Katherine Mikos, 70, of Aiken, South Carolina and former Rome, Ohio resident. died Wednesday (Feb. 7th) at the Aiken Regional Medical Center in South Carolina. She was born January 28, 1937 in Barnesboro, Pa. and had lived in Rome, Ohio before moving to Aiken in 2006.
Mrs. Mikos was a LPN and worked for many years at University Hospitals in Cleveland. She was an accomplished artist and many of he paintings still hang in area hospitals and doctor’s offices. She enjoyed cooking and watching western movies, but most of all she loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and step grandchildren. Mrs. Mikos was a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Church in Aiken and Sacred Heart Church in the village of Rock Creek, Ohio.
Surviving her are two sons: Mark (Ilishe) Mikos of Aiken, South Carolina and Richard (Shirley) Mikos of Rome, Ohio; two grandchildren, Kathleen Mikos and Alexander Mikos; three step grandchildren, August Napoli, Tony Napoli and Alicia Pace; four step grandchildren, Adrianna Napoli, Angelia Napoli and Nathan and Alexis Pace and her father-in-law, George Mikos in Auburn, Wa.
Her mother, Margaret Korman, and her husband, Stanley Mikos, preceded her in death in 2004.
A Mass of Christian burial will be Monday (Feb. 12th) at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 3409 Route 45, Rock Creek, Ohio. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Rock Creek.

Jean Reid Sims

Jean Reid Sims, 91, 0f South Ridge Rd. West Ashtabula entered life in the heavenly kingdom in the Hospice Unit of Ashtabula County Medical Center on February 8, 2007. She died peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 7, 1915 in Youngstown, Ohio the daughter of J. Sherwood and Edith (Hoelz) Reid. She graduated from Youngstown College in 1936 and began her teaching career at Market Street School. She had been a resident of Ashtabula since 1952. She was a much loved teacher at Wallace Braden Junior High School for 22 years and had retired in 1980.
Mrs. Sims was an active member of East Side Presbyterian Church for 53 years. She served her church in many capacities, but teaching Sunday School was the one she loved most.
Her greatest loves were her Lord, her family, her many dear friends and helping others in any way she could. She enjoyed volunteering at the hospital in her younger years. She loved holidays and entertaining her family and friends. Her deep faith, the beautiful life she lived and her fun-loving spirit have been an inspiration to all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Edith and Russ Makynen with whom she had lived the past two years; her daughter-in-law, Diana Sims of Garland, Texas; a sister, Elizabeth Balentine of Youngstown; three grandchildren, Robert (Danielle) Makynen of Erie, Pa. Andrea Jean Makynen of Ashtabula and Adam Sims of Garland, TX; two great granddaughters who have been the light of her life, Braela Elizabeth and Brynlee Reid Makynen of Erie, Pa.; nieces and nephews and a host of dear and loving friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a dear son, John H. Sims on January 17, 2005.
Funeral service will be Monday (Feb. 12th) at 2:00 PM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula with Rev. Shane Nanney of the East Side Presbyterian Church officiating. Calling hours will be Sunday (Feb. 11th) from 3 to 5 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to East Side Presbyterian Church; Hospice of the Western Reserve, or by performing an act of kindness in her honor.
Barbara J. Powers
SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI - Barbara J. (Stack) Powers, 66, of Shelby Township, MI, formerly of Conneaut, died Thursday, 8_7_Powers_eps July 10, 2003, at her home.
She was born July 12, 1936, in Greenville, PA, the daughter of Francis and Emma Stack.
Mrs. Powers was a homemaker and an avid golfer. She loved flowers, decorating her home during the Christmas season, and especially spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; daughter, Pamela (Jeffrey) Jax; grandchildren, Darryn, Justin and Nathan; and sisters, Hanna Williams, Faye Mast and Janet Greer, all of Conneaut.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Helen Cunningham.
A funeral service was held at Fair Lutheran Church, Shelby Road, Shelby Township, MI.
