Amelia Kikel
HARPERSFIELD - Amelia Kikel, 89, formerly of Cork Cold Springs Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at Jefferson Geriatric Nursing Home.
She was born July 18, 1911, in Cleveland, the daughter of Frank and Frances (Bijt) Kotnik, and had lived in the area since 1944.
She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Geneva, and enjoyed quilting, sewing and gardening.
Survivors include two sons: Joseph and Norman, both of Geneva; seven grandchildren: Victoria, Danny, Donna, Joseph Jr., JoAnne, Anthony and Scott; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers: Adolph Kotnik of Cleveland and Henry Kotnik of South Carolina; and a sister, Ann Arko of Mentor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph F. Kikel, in 1974; and a brother, Bill Kotnik.
Service is 10 a.m. Saturday at Assumption Catholic Church, 594 W. Main St., Geneva. The Rev. Paul Tobin will officiate. Burial will be at Unionville Cemetery.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Kennedy-Billman Funeral Home, 323 S. Broadway, Geneva.
Damion Lee Owens
PORTSMOUTH, VA - Damion Lee Owens, 10-month old son of Patricia Cutright and Roy Owens, died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at the Norfolk Naval Hospital.
Damion was born July 24, 2002, in Portsmouth, Virginia, the son of Roy and Patricia (Cutright) Owens.
Besides his parents, he is survived by one brother, Royce James "R.J." Owens; maternal grandmother, Virginia Cutright of Geneva; maternal grandparents, George and Nelda Malasky of Ashtabula; maternal great-grandparents, Doug and Margaret Johnson of Ashtabula; maternal great-grandmother, Helen Winex of Richmond, VA; paternal grandmother, Patricia Owens of Ashtabula; and paternal great-grandfather, Turner Owens, of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Paul Cutright, and maternal great-grandfather, Joseph Winex.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at the Zaback-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula. The Rev. Kenneth Roberts, Pastor of Pentecostal Church of God, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Geneva.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday, June 10, 2003, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Zaback-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula.

MADELINE BLAKE PIATT
DELAWARE - Madeline Blake Piatt, age 93, died Saturday, June 7, 2003, at the Sarah Moore Home, Delaware, Ohio.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, 1:00 p.m., at the Robinson Funeral Home, Delaware, Ohio, with Pastor Bart Dyer officiating.
Burial will be at a later date in the City Cemetery of Conneaut, Ohio.
Ann M. Huzl
GREENSBURG - Ann M. Huzl, 89, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at her home after a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 21, 1912, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of Stephan and Anna (Chrapko) Pechac.
A homemaker, Mrs. Huzl was a longtime Freedom Township resident.
She was a former member of St. Ambrose Church and the Altar and Rosary societies; the Daughters of Mary at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Orwell; the St. Vincent DePaul Society; and the Grand Valley Senior Citizens Club.
Survivors include her two sons, Daniel Huzl of Garrettsville, and Thomas Huzl of Orwell; a daughter, Cecelia Easton of Orwell; a brother, Peter Pechac of Nelson Township; a sister, Elizabeth V. Huzl of Cleveland; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas J. Huzl, whom died in February 1956; and two brothers, Joseph and Steve.
A Mass of Christian Burial is 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Garrettsville. The Rev. Richard Pentello will officiate.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Golden Rule Funeral Home, 8302 Center St., Garrettsville.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ravenna.

Helen Kaleta
PARMA HEIGHTS - Helen Kaleta, 82, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at Parma Hospital.
She was born March 9, 1920, in Cleveland, the daughter of Nicholas and Pauline (Prokob) Tkac.
Survivors include her two sons, Edward J. Jr., of Middleburg Heights, and Donald J., of Hartsgrove Township; five grandchildren, Gary, Donald Jr. and David Kaleta, and Barbara Shrenkel and Diane Kavalchek; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Edward J. Kaleta.
Prayer service will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Mallchok Funeral Home, 5660 Ridge Road, Parma. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Bosco Catholic Church, 6480 Pearl Road, Parma Heights.
Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery, Chardon.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Euphemia Lawson
ROME TOWNSHIP - Euphemia "Queenie" Lawson, 92, of Callahan Road, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at the Grand Valley Country Manor in Windsor Township.
She was born July 24, 1910, in East Cleveland, the daughter of Alexander and Euphemia (Petrie) Lawson. She was an area resident for most of her life.
She was a graduate of Rock Creek High School and received her bachelor's in education from Kent State University.
Mrs. Lawson taught school for 38 years at Footville, Hartsgrove, Windsor, Geneva and Austinburg elementary schools.
She was a member of Covered Bridge Chapter 591, Order of the Eastern Star, the Ashtabula County Retired Teachers Association and the National Retired Teachers Association.
She enjoyed reading and traveling.
Survivors include her two brothers, William Lawson of Geneva, and Alexander Lawson of Trumbull Township; and three sisters, Ethel Orient of Hambden Township, Winifred Haight of Saybrook Township, and Elizabeth Dann of Morganton, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, May Wilburn.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Kennedy-Billman Funeral Home, 323 S. Broadway, Geneva, with the Rev. Bob Cunningham of United Church of Geneva officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Geneva.
Calling hours will be noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Gertrude E. Fleming
ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. -Gertrude E. Fleming, 95, of Zephyrhills, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at Zephyr Haven Nursing Home, Zephyrhills.
She was born July 29, 1907, in Pleasant Green, Mo., to William and Josephine Long. She was a former Painesville resident.
Mrs. Fleming was a member of First Church of Christ, Painesville, where she was active in the Booster Club.
Survivors include her husband, Glenn E. Fleming, of Zephyrhills; two daughters, Patricia Shinkle Tinley of Zephyrhills, and Phyllis Willoughby of Painesville; a son, Wesley A. Shinkle of Rock Creek; a brother, William Long of Painesville; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Leona and Ida; five children, "Junior, " James, Mary Beth and Joyce Cramer, and David Shinkle; and a grandchild, Mary P. Klebe.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville, officiated by the Rev. Leslie White from First Church of Christ, Painesville. Burial is in Riverside Cemetery, Painesville.
Visitation is 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
