Sophie F. Zall
CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Sophie Frances Zall, 74, of Cape Coral, Fla., formerly of Madison, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison.
Mass of Christian burial is pending for Monday morning.
Helen VanOrsdale
HUDSON - Helen Vivian Woodruff Judd VanOrsdale, 100, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at Laurel Lake Crown Center, Hudson.
Born Feb. 23, 1901, in Cleveland, she had been a Hudson resident for 11 years, coming from Newbury Township and Claridon Township.
A graduate of Cleveland Kindergarten Training School, part of Western Reserve University, she was a kindergarten teacher in Cleveland, Chardon and Berkshire school systems. She retired in 1946 after 25 years of teaching.
She married George Judd in 1927 in Cleveland. He died in 1934. She married Otto VanOrsdale in 1941 in Claridon Township. He died in 1958.
She enjoyed floral gardening and knitting and made caps for children with the knitting club at Laurel Lake. She was a volunteer at Geauga Community Hospital and a founding member of the Geauga County Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include a son, Tyler Judd of Newbury Township; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Geraldine Boyles of Sylvania.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouses, and a sister, Adelia Slater.
Memorial service is 10 a.m. Monday in Wade Chapel at Lakeview Cemetery, Cleveland, with the Rev. Robert D. Penrod of Pilgrim Christian Church, Chardon, officiating.
Donations may be made to the scholarship fund of Geauga County Retired Teachers Association, in care of Lois Jefferys, 7407 Avon Lane, Chesterland 44026
Clarence H. Judd
CONCORD TOWNSHIP - Clarence H. Judd, 87, a longtime Lake County resident, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001, in Altercare of Mentor, in Concord Township.
Born Dec. 6, 1913, in Levi, Ky., the son of Lee and Ella Judd.
Mr. Judd was a retired confection manager for Humphrey Company, retiring in 1998. Prior to that he was a co-owner/operator of the former Judd's Restaurant in Willowick. Mr. Judd also worked at the former Euclid Beach Park.
He was a member of F&AM Lodge 0508 in Lyndhurst and received his 50 year pin in 1997, with his brother Estil.
Survivors include his brother, Earl Price of Geneva; and sister, Clarice Stepp of Coral Springs, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; two brothers; Otto Price and Estil Judd; his parents and stepfather, Floyd Price.
Service will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Brunner Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
Interment will be in Knollwood Cemetery, Mayfield Village.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Etha M. Ross
ERIE - Etha Mae Ross, 64, of West 54th St., died Saturday, June 9, 2001.
Service is 1 p.m. Saturday at Peoples Baptist Church, 3837 West Ave., Ashtabula.
Calling hour is from noon until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, is in charge of the arrangements.
Spencer H. Henry
ROAMING SHORES - Spencer H. Henry, 86, of Roaming Shores, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at Hamot Medical Center, Erie.
He was born Aug. 22, 1914, in Cleveland, the son of Franklin and Margaret Henry and had been resident of Roaming Shores for the past six years, coming from Mentor.
Mr. Henry was the former owner and operator of Willoughby Window Cleaning for 40 years. He had been retired for the past 12 years.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He was an avid golfer, boater and crooner.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Geraldine; two daughters, Nancy Mazurek of Eastlake, and Kathy Thomas of Roaming Shores; two sons, Frank of Madison and John of Kirtland Hills; a sister, Frances Frazier of California; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Gladys Quinlan.
Service is 8 p.m. Friday at the Brunner Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
Calling hours are 5 p.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.

Robert G. Penrod
WAUSEON - Robert G. Penrod, 80, of Wauseon, died Thursday, June 7, 2001, at Harborside of Swanton.
Born Oct. 28, 1920, in Wauseon, he was a son of Guy and Irma (Robinson) Penrod.
He married Genevieve Durbin on Aug. 14, 1943, and she preceded him in death in 1980. He then married Wilma Langenberg Roosenberg on Nov. 12, 1988.
A U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Penrod was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Wauseon where he was an elder and former choir member as well as an active participant in a weekly prayer group. In addition to the local church, he was active at the state level of the Disciples of Christ, having served as president of the Ohio Men's Fellowship; a member of the board of directors of the Christian Church of Ohio; and president of the Adult Conference.
Mr. Penrod was active in the Exchange Club of Wauseon and the Wauseon Elks Lodge. He also was a charter member of the Wauseon Investment Club, a member of the board of directors of Sterling Milk Co.; the Wauseon Chamber of Commerce; Wauseon City Council; a life member of the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants; and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert of Chardon; two daughters, Kathy Levison of Holland and Judy Wolf of Maumee; two stepsons, Ken Roosenberg of Harrisburg, Pa., and David Roosenberg of Lima; a stepdaughter, Pam Conine of Lima; seven grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and a brother, Jim of Delta.
He was preceded in death by his first wife; his parents; and a brother, Howard.
A service was Monday at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Wauseon, with the Rev. Mary Jo Bray officiating. Burial was in Wauseon Union Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to Camp Christian.
The Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, Wauseon, had charge of the arrangements.
Mary C. Cassort
BUCKHANNON, W. Va. - Mary C. Cassort, 77, formerly of Ashtabula, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Buckhannon, W.Va.
She was born July 17, 1923, in Silica, W.Va., the daughter of Burnie and Cora (Primes) Tenney.
Mrs. Cassort was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Dolores Loudin of Buckhannon; a son, Tex Edward Walton of Buchannon; a step-son, Leroy Cassort, Jr., of Virginia; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy, on May 10, 1995; her parents; and several brothers and sisters.
Service was held Thursday in Buckhannon. Burial was in Hacker Valley Cemetery, Hacker Valley, W.Va.
