Ruth E. Mausling
MONTVILLE TOWNSHIP - Ruth E. Mausling, 74, of Montville Township, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at the Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Cleveland.
She was born Feb. 4, 1927, in Chardon, and had been a lifelong Geauga County resident.
A postmaster at Montville's post office, she retired from the postal service in 1992.
She married Stuart Mausling on July 3, 1947, in Newport, Ky.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church for 40 years, and was very active with the Altar Guild at the church. She enjoyed bowling with friends on Tuesday mornings at Ernst Lanes, and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Diana Stevens of Leroy Township; sons Michael Mausling of Montville Township, and Tim Mausling of Madison Township; grandchildren Kristel Paparesta, Rebecca Miller, Stephen Miller, Melissa and John Mausling, and Kim and Jason Mausling; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Peg Carlson of Warsaw, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on Feb. 12, 1988; three brothers and four sisters.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church in Thompson. Ross Fees, church pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at Montville Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.

Thomas F. Hendl
CONCORD TOWNSHIP - Thomas F. Hendl, 71, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at Louis Stokes Veterans Affairs Hospital, Cleveland.
He was born Feb. 12, 1930, in Union City, N.J., and was a former resident of Mentor and Doylestown.
Mr. Hendl was a former member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Mentor.
He was an electrical engineer graduating from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and retired from the H.K. Ferguson Co. in 1975. Prior to that he had worked for General Electric in Daytona Beach and Cleveland.
Mr. Hendl was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served from 1950-1965.
Survivors include his former wife, Evelyn of Concord Township; 12 children, Joseph of St. Francisville, La., Gerard of Zachary, La., Patrick of Vallejo, Calif., Mary Malnar of Concord Township, Margaret Markowski of Chardon, Thomas F. Jr. of Lake Milton, Jennie Haldi of Madison, Kathleen Martens of Spring Valley, Calif., Anne Granchi of Munson Township, Theresa Schultz of Virginia, Frank of Hambden and Gregory of Cunningham, Tenn.; and a sister, June Stehlik of New York.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank T. and Jennie Hendl.
Service is 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 8650 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery, Chardon Township

Velma Burnap
WESTLAKE - Velma W. Burnap, 86, formerly of Conneaut, died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at Rae Ann Suburban, Westlake, where she had lived for the past year.
She was born Oct. 14, 1914, in Conneaut, the daughter of Walter and Anna (Traver) Watson.
A 1932 Conneaut High School graduate, she attended Kent State University and graduated from Edinboro University, Edinboro, Pa. She taught at the elementary school level in the Lakeville and Conneaut school systems for 39 years, retiring in 1975.
On April 7, 1945, she married James L. Burnap.
She was an active member of the United Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Floral Guild. She was also a member of Rose Chapter 22, Order of Eastern Star, the Mystic Circle, and Sorosis II. She enjoyed music, piano and children.
Survivors include two nieces, Anne McNary of East Lansing, Mich. and Virginia "Ginny" Hanick of Westlake; three nephews, Chuck and Mark Beckwith, and David Watson, all of St. Louis, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1997; her sister, Mary Beckwith; and her brother, Traver Watson.
Service is 2 p.m. Monday at the Marcy Funeral Home, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with the Rev. Walter Coy of Conneaut United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in City Cemetery, Conneaut.
Friends may call Monday at the funeral home beginning at noon until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Church of Christ. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Mildred O. Evans
NORTH BALTIMORE - Mildred O. Evans, 87, of N. Baltimore, Ohio, formerly of Pataskala, died Aug. 2, 2001, at Blakely Care Center, North Baltimore.
Survivors include two sons, John W. Jr. of Madison and Charles H. of Bowling Green; two sisters, Glenna Black of Kirkersville and Mary Willard of Columbus; seven grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Graveside service is 2 p.m. Tuesday in Pataskala Cemetery.
A memorial service for Mrs. Evans and her husband, John Evans, who died June 28, 2001, will be held following the graveside service at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church of Ptaskala, with the Rev. Dennis Witt officiating.
The Kauber Miller Funeral Home, 289 S. Main St. Pataskala, has charge of the arrangements.
William B. Houston
CLEVELAND - William Bennett Houston Jr., 58, died Sunday, April 13, 2003, at Rae-Ann Nursing Home in Geneva.
He was born Dec. 31, 1944, in Cleveland, the son of William and Jean Houston.
Mr. Houston was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He flew with Wright Airlines and worked as a small-aircraft pilot instructor. He also was an air traffic controller in Cleveland for many years. Mr. Houston also worked as an emergency medical technician in Sullivan.
Survivors include his two daughters, Lisa Jewell of Geneva, and Dana Brown of Sullivan; six grandchildren, Bobby, Brian, Stephani and Stephen Jewell of Geneva, and Jessie and Lisa Brown of Sullivan; a sister, Phyllis Churnega of Cleveland; two brothers, Phillip Houston of Cleveland, and Sam Houston of Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison.
Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Madison.
June A. Pelton
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - June A. Pelton, 87, formerly of Geneva, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, in the Seminole Nursing Pavilion in Seminole, Fla.
She was born June 30, 1915, in Cleveland. She moved from Geneva to Florida in 1970.
She was a retired clerk of the Holiday Inn on Madeira Beach, Fla.
Survivors include her two sons, Charles "Bud" Pelton of Ashtabula, and Dwight Pelton of Kingswood, Texas; two daughters, Shirley Jepson of Lebanon, Mo., and Nancy L. Pelton of Seminole, Fla.; two sisters, Betty Skidmore of Pinellas Park, Fla., and Carol Penhollow of Houston; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside service is 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Clearwater Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Seminole, Fla. Calling hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mohn Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 9700 Seminole Blvd., Seminole, Fla.
Vernon D. Kistler
CHAMPION - Vernon Dayrl "Duke" Kistler, 87, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren.
He was born Nov. 25, 1934 in Warren, the son of Vernon and Eleanor (Lossee) Kistler.
Kistler was a 1952 graduate of Kinsman High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War with the 11th Airborne Division.
He graduated from the Akron School of Barbering and owned and operated barber shops in Brookfield, Kinsman and Warren before retiring.
He also was a member of the Kinsman American Legion, Post 506, and Eagle Scouts of America. He enjoyed bowling and once sponsored a team at Rainbow Lanes. He also was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan.
Survivors include his wife, Martha "Milly" (Uglovich), to whom he had been married since Feb. 14, 1995, after being together for 16 years; two daughters Tammy Mullet, of Kinsman, and Darla Allen, of Hartford; a son, Timothy Kistler, of Anaheim Hills, Ca.; two step daughters Michele Jeffers, of Champion, and Julie Dunk, of Stow; a stepson, Leonard Hanchin, of Irvine, Ca.; two brothers, Thomas Kistler, of Vienna, and Ted Kistler, of Warren; and a sister Jean Haley, of Cortland; and several grandchildren and step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John and William Kistler.
Services will be noon Tuesday at the Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main St., Kinsman, with the Rev. Steven Trimble officiating. Burial will be in the Kinsman Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
