Andrew G. Niznik
KINGMAN, Ariz. - Andrew G. Niznik, 74, died Friday, April 12, 2002, at Kingman Regional Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 23, 1927, in Dunlow, Pa., the son of Steven and Anne (Mushenko) Niznik. Formerly of northeastern Ohio, Mr. Niznik had lived in Arizona since 1996.
Mr. Niznik was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II.
He retired from Eaton Axle, where he was also the secretary and treasurer of MESA Local 21.
He was an avid golfer and bowler, and later in life enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include his wife, Regina (Kavaras), whom he married May 29, 1948; two sons, David of Madison and Thomas of Grand Junction, Colo.; a granddaughter, Kimberly Niznik Goff; a great-granddaughter; four sisters, Mary Stutz, Donna Sarli, Carol Saturnino, and Regina Smith; and a brother, Steven.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Elsie Rubal.
The Sutton Memorial Funeral Home, Kingman, Ariz., will announce further arrangements.
Albert L. Smith
WELLSVILLE - Albert "Smitty" Smith, 80, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at the Weirton Medical Center, Weirton, W.Va.
He was born May 9, 1921, in Atlanta, Ga., the son of Richard and Anna M. Smith.
He worked as a auto mechanic until his retirement.
Survivors include two children, Rosetta L. Pyles and Harold Nix; a brother, Jesse Smith; six sisters, Minnie McLaughlin, Clara Snyder, Annabelle Cochron, Josephine Catting, Dorothy Dalton and Evelyn Bushman; and his grandchildren, Joseph Pyles Jr., Sheila Sandiego, Terri Townes, Steven Pyles, and Steven Nix.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille L., on May 7, 2000; his parents; a sister, Anna Smith; and four brothers, Calvin, Frank, Hardy, and Richard Jr.
Service was held in Steubenville. He was buried April 13, in Yorksville.
The Vinson House of Mortuary, 711 N. Fifth St., Steubenville, had charge of the arrangements.
Elizabeth M. Wharton
CONCORD TOWNSHIP - Elizabeth M. Wharton, 87, died Monday, April 15, 2002, at LakeEast Hospital, Painesville.
She was born Aug. 22, 1914, in Cleveland.
Mrs. Wharton was a former member of Urania Chapter 284, Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, Melvin; three sons, Donald of Grafton, Edwin of Conneaut, and Richard of Chardon; a daughter, Marilyn Young of Concord Township; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, John Molnar of Lyndhurst, George Molnar of Utica, N.Y., and Andy Molnar of Westlake; and a sister, Katherine Wharton of North Olmsted.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters.
Service is 10 a.m. Thursday at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville, with the Rev. John P. Davis III of First Church, Congregational, officiating. Burial will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chester Township.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Charles E. Lambert
HAMILTON - Charles E. Lambert,52, of Hamilton passed away Monday January 9, 2012 at his residence.
The son of Charles H. and Janet (Rohrbough) Lambert, he was born November 7, 1959 in Ashtabula.
On April 16, 1998,he married the love of his life Mary Elizabeth Nagle.
On July 23, 1978 he enlisted in the United States Army. As a member of the US Army, Chuck became proficient in tank repair and earned medals for his achievements. January 1, 1987 he was honorably discharged having earned the rank of Staff Sargent. Chuck was proud to have served his country. A true patriot, he believed in “duty to country and your fellow man.” It was these beliefs that lead Chuck to be employed as a National Service Officer for the Disabled American Veterans. He never took no for an answer when it came to “his veterans”, he went the extra mile to get the benefits that they so richly deserved.
A lifetime member of Hamilton/Fairfield Chapter 15 DAV, he was always there to help in any capacity that he was needed. Chuck also enjoyed watching NASCAR and talking with his friends on the CB radio among whom he was known as “Chaser” or simply “Sarge.” A wonderful, husband, dad, papaw, and friend he will be missed by his friends and family for his incredible belief in duty to country, wit and unique sense of humor, and love for his family.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife Mary Lambert; three sons, Jesse E. Lambert and Matthew K. and Joseph T. Nagle, one daughter Lelia M. Lambert, and his grandson Jonathon Nagle; his sister Debra (David) Frederick; brother Doug (Donna) Lambert; and a large circle of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Funeral Service will be held at 7: PM on Sunday, January 15, 2010 at DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 4524 ELM AVENUE, ASHTABUALA, with the Rev. Quincy Worthington, Pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church, officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the American Legion, Dewey-Howlett Post # 103 of Ashtabula. Interment will be Monday, January 16, 2012, at 10: AM at the Western Reserve Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Rittman, Ohio
Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Sunday January 15, 2012 at the Ducro Funeral Home 4524 Elm Avenue Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.

Violet E. Ritenour
COLEBROOK TOWNSHIP - Violet E. Ritenour, 69, of Windsor Road East, died Monday, May 14, 2001, at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, following complications of open heart surgery.
Born May 29, 1931, in St. Mary's, W.Va., she was a daughter of VanBuren and Bertha M. (Ashcraft) Leigh and had lived in Colebrook Township for the past five years, coming from Braceville Township.
She married George D. Ritenour on Nov. 4, 1950.
She was a homemaker and attended First Congregational Church, Wayne Township.
She enjoyed cooking, crafts, and flower gardening.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Kathy S. Farmwald of Colebrook Township and Sharon A. Francis of Clarks Mills, Pa.; a son, Gary G. of Colebrook Township; three brothers, Herbert Leigh of Barberton, Paul Leigh of Ravenna, and Cecil Leigh of Newton Falls; three sisters, Jean Salley of St. Mary's W.Va., Patricia Leigh Stoll of Marshallville, and Rita Russell of Warren; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Jack, Curtis, Harry and Forrest Leigh; and a sister, Freda Swaggert.
Service is noon Friday at the First Congregational Church of Wayne, Route 193 at Route 322; Wayne Township, with the Revs. Robert and Lori Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Colebrook Cemetery.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Woodrow R. Shelton
CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. - Woodrow R. Shelton, 83, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at his home.
He was born Oct. 8, 1917, in Cleveland, the son of Robert and Lizzie (Peppel) Shelton.
Survivors include his wife, the former Marlene Rexroad; children: W. Robert, W. Ronald, W. Russell, Florence Edelman, W. Ralph, Debbie Brzyscz and Jennifer Loucas; 21 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandy D. Robiewicz.
Service was Wednesday and burial was at McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery in Crystal Lake.
Jiles M. Knudsen
PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP - Jiles M. Knudsen, 82, a resident of Plymouth Township, died at her home on Monday, June 16, 2003.
Born August 10, 1920, in Ashtabula, she was the daughter of Frank and Sarah (Wilson) Stief.
A graduate of Harbor High School in 1938, she was a Ward Clerk for Ashtabula General Hospital.
Survivors include sons, Frank Knudsen of Ashtabula, and Francis Knudsen of FL; a daughter, Susan Zannelli of Ashtabula; a brother, Robert Stief of FL; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter; brothers, Henry, Eugene, and Frank; and sisters, Mercedes Cobb, Emma Sasso, and Sara Crytzer.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, June 19, at the Guerriero Funeral Home, 1550 W. 19th St. in Ashtabula, with burial to take place in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, June 19, from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Donations may be made to Hospice of Ashtabula County.
