V. Marion "Mim" Christner
LADY LAKE, Florida - V. Marion "Mim" Christner, 81, of Sycamore Square, Lady Lake, Fla., died Thursday, April 3, 2003.
Born in Ashtabula, she was a homemaker.
She moved to Lady Lake, Fla. from Geneva in 1984.
Mrs. Christner was a member of the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Water Oak Golf Club and the Water Oak Drama Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Marie Chapman of Madison and Barbara Brown of Ohio; one sister, Toini Shislowski of Ashtabula; and one grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Christner. Burial will be next to her husband in Fort Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Fla.

Frank S. Simons
PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Mexico - Frank Stanton Simons Jr., 58, of Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico, died at his brother's home in Superior, Colo., on Aug. 29, 2002.
He was born March 17, 1944, in Santiago, Cuba, the son of Frank S. Simons Sr. and Mary (Edwards) Simons, and later lived in Mexico and Peru before moving to Colorado at age 13.
He was a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder and The George Washington University Law School in Washington.
He worked as an attorney in Colorado Springs for many years, serving as chief deputy public defender and also working in private practice.
He was appointed and served as a member of the 4th Judicial District Nominating Commission for five years.
He retired in 1998 and moved to Mexico, where he enjoyed traveling, scuba diving, backpacking and people.
Survivors include his mother, Mary, of Lakewood, Colo.; his wife, the former Karen Bittner, of Playa del Carmen, Mexico; two brothers, John Simons of Superior, Colo., and Andrew Simons of Seattle; his maternal grandmother, Anna Edwards, of Alhambra, Calif.; his father- and mother-in-law, Sulo and Leah Kleimo of Conneaut; and two sisters-in-law, Susan Esposito of Ashtabula, and Joan Richards of Conneaut.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Respecting his wishes, no formal funeral services were held. A gathering to celebrate his life will be held in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Helen V. Ehasz
CAMPBELL - Former Ravenna resident Helen V. Ehasz, 85, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002.
Born Feb. 21, 1916, in Ashtabula, she was a daughter of Nicholas and Julia (Linkerson) Bayus.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Julianne Ehasz Oles of Campbell; a granddaughter, Cynthia Oles of Campbell; and a sister, Viola Mramor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie; a son, Ronald; and her parents.
Service is 9 a.m. Thursday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 409 W. Main St., Ravenna. Interment will be in Painesville Cemetery, Painesville
Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Wood-Kortright Funeral Home in Ravenna.

Robert C. Poland
CHERRY VALLEY TOWNSHIP - Robert C. Poland, 87, of Dodgeville Road, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at St. Joseph Medical Center, Andover.
He was born June 5, 1914, in Algona, Iowa, the son of Calvin J. and Roberta M. (Rush) Poland, and was a long-time area resident.
He owned and operated Poland's Honey Products, Cherry Valley Township, for more than 15 years. He worked as a self-employed carpenter for more than 25 years, and for 30 years delivered produce to the needy as a mission for area churches.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of the Pymatuning Community Center and enjoyed mission work, volunteering for the Teen Challenge Ranch, Amarillo, Texas. He also enjoyed wood crafts.
He married Rhea Jean Hull on June 23, 1937.
Survivors include two daughters, Inez Randall and LaDeanna Poland of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a son, Jack Poland of Broken Arrow; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his long-time companion, Jennie Mills of Williamsfield Township.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Jan. 14, 1991; four sisters, Ota McCowien, Ruth Hickling, Gay Williams and Grace Poland; and three brothers, Denver, Lee and Forest.
Service is 1 p.m. Thursday at the Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect St., Andover. Burial will be in Cherry Valley Cemetery.
Visitation is noon until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.

Julius L. Whited
BEGGS, Okla. - Julius Lee Whited, 71, formerly of Geneva, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, in Beggs, Okla.
He was born Jan. 11, 1931, in Belle, W.Va., the son of Luther and Laura (Davis) Whited.
He graduated from Geneva High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Whited worked in construction for Bob Kindig Construction Co., and was a member of the Geneva Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Geneva Eagles Club.
Survivors include six sisters, Margelene Arnold of California, Naomi Wakins of Beggs, Okla., Helen Steerman of Jefferson, Linda Jimenez of Kentucky, and Marilyn Cole and Carolyn Harden of Geneva; and five brothers, Melvin, Ronald, and Jerry, all of Geneva, Allen of Arizona, and Glenn of Jefferson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Sally Hall.
Service is 11 a.m. Thursday at the Kennedy-Billman Funeral Home, 323 S. Broadway, Geneva, with the Rev. Shirley Deemer of Geneva Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Geneva, where the Geneva VFW will conduct military rites.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Geneva VFW or Hospice of Ashtabula County.

Lottie Miller
Friday, January 18th, 2008
Lottie L. Miller, age 97, of Fargo Drive, died Friday, January 18, 2008 at the Jefferson Health Care Center.
She was born on January 22, 1910 in Clarion Co., Pennsylvania, the daughter of William & Myrtle (Bish) Radaker. She married the late Clarence Miller on April 17, 1929, in Summerville, PA. She attended the United Brotheran Church for 66 years. She enjoyed crafts, her flower garden, puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren. She also taught toddlers’ Sunday school for over 20 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Gwen L. Locher and Norma J. Carlson, both of Ashtabula; six grandchildren, Lorraine A. Fetters, Bernice C. Collise, Connie J. Woodring, Darlene L. Osborne, Dale A. Locher, and Jeffrey J. Locher; 10 great grandchildren, Cindy, Carrie, Stephanie, Denyse, Kelly, Laura, Michael, Matthew, Melissa, and Jeffrey; 10 great great grandchildren; and one sister, Grace Huffman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1976; one brother, William H.; four sisters, Blanche C, Minnie E, Florence V., and Dorothy M.; a son in infancy, Richard LeRoy; and a son in law, John Locher.
Services will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Ashtabula home of the Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 526 W. Prospect, Ashtabula.
Calling hours will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Contributions can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Av, Ashtabula. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Betty J. Sproles
Thursday, January 10th, 2008
Betty J. Sproles, 85 beloved wife, and much loved sister, mother and grandmother passed away on December 30, 2007.
She was born on October 6, 1922 in Alliance, Ohio the oldest child of Sara and Charles B. Beegle. She played a major role in her “little” brothers, Charles and Robert’s life while helping her mother build an early childhood Child Care center, as part of WPA. She attended Ohio State University.
Betty married Carl R. Sproles on September 4, 1948 and they celebrated their 59th loving anniversary this year. The moved to Saybrook in 1949 where Carl began his teaching career and they developed life-long friendships. Her daughters, Rebecca and Lura, were born in 1954 and 56, and she supported them with endless hours of Girl Scouts, piano lesson, church activities, baked goods, camping, travel and love. She became “world renowned” for her cooking and baking.
Saybrook United Methodist Church enjoyed her contributions of time and love to the church nursery, where she passionately touched the lives of many for 39 years.
Betty loved joining Carl in many years of camping and travels and was a constant “trooper.”
She was always selflessly available to help people wherever and whenever she was needed. Her warm and never-ending smile touched family, friends and strangers.
Survivors include her husband, Carl of Ashtabula; her brothers, Charles of Va. And Robert of Ct.; hr daughters, Rebecca (John) Kososkie of AZ and Lura (Bruce) Goff of OH, and her cherished grandchildren, Ben Kososkie of AZ and Hanna and Kathryn “KJ” Goff of OH. Great-grandchildren Deryk, Tristyn, Amillya, and Kamdyn Kososkie of Arizona will miss “Pickle Grandma”.
A Celebration of Betty’s life will be held Saturday, January 12 at 1 pm at the Saybrook United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Attn. Tribute Department, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
