Mary Jane Howard
GRAVEL RIDGE, Ark. - Mary Jane Howard, 64, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include husband Ronald Howard; son Todd Howard of Gravel Ridge, Ark.; daughter Kimberley of Jacksonville; grandchildren Charles and Brittany Howard, and Troy, Holly, James and Kyle Ayers; sister Ann Napi of Conneaut; and brother Dean Dickinson of Conneaut.
Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Ruth (Thompson) Dickinson.
Funeral was Nov. 12 in the chapel at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills in Arkansas.
Nettie M. McKibbins
LAWSON, Ark. - Nettie Mae McKibbins, 76, of Lawson, Ark., died Friday, July 13, 2001.
She was born Dec. 29, 1924, in Urbana, Ark., the daughter of Frank and Jessie (Byers) Barnes.
Mrs. McKibbins was a member of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Urbana. While in Ohio she was a member of the Union Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Herman Norman, John Lee and Raymond Barnett all of Ashtabula; six daughters, Emily Sue Coleman of El Dorado, Nettie Ruth King of Lawson, Mary Ann Cooper of Dayton, Jewel Lee Denton, Irene Coleman, and Jessie Mae Hayens all of Ashtabula; five brothers, Frank Lee Barnes, Raymond Barnes both of Urbana, Kenneth Barnes of Little Rock, Jessie James Barnes of Detroit, Mich., Robert Barnes of Ashtabula; eight sisters, Delose Ross and Dorothy Barnes both of El Dorado, Mediessia Thompson, Costella Malone and Ella Mae Billings of Detroit, Flora Ramey of Memphis, Tenn.; 33 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, Cather Rae Barnes, two husbands, Georgia W. Barnett and Kings McKibbins; a brother, Eugene Barnes and three sisters, Pauline Gaine, Ella Ruth Gilbert and Big Barnes.
Service is today at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Urbana, with the Rev. O.B. Butler officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Calling hours will be today from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Andrews Funeral Home Inc., El Dorado is handling the arrangements.
Jonnie W. McCarthy
BEDFORD HEIGHTS - Jonnie Wade Hiland Dinsworth McCarthy, 85, died Friday, May 18, 2001, at her home following an extended illness.
She was born Oct. 17, 1915, in Scotland, Ariz., the daughter of John Wade and Eva (Massey) Hiland.
Mrs. McCarthy came to Bedford in 1950 with her first husband, Ewell Dinsworth and their two daughters. She later married Joseph McCarthy.
She retired as an inspector with General Motors in Brookpark in 1972, where she was active in the retirees group until her illness.
Mrs. McCarthy was a member of United Auto Workers Local 1004 and recording secretary for the Retirees Chapter for 10 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Joan “Joy” Shumate and Mary Jane Lofton of Middlefield; three grandsons, George, James and Benn Lofton of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and two great-granddaughters, Emily and Lauren Lofton of St. Petersburg, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a brother, Arthur Hiland; and two sisters, Bertie Gardner and Lu Hall.
Service and burial is Wednesday at Scotland Baptist Church, Scotland, Ark.
No local services will be observed.

Caroline Washington
HARPERSFIELD TOWNSHIP – Caroline “Coline” Washington, 59, of Harpersfield Road, died Thursday, May 17, 2001, at her home.
She was born July 13, 1941, in Kanawha County, West Va., the daughter of Lewis O. and Genevieve (Richards) Proctor.
She married Damon S. Washington on Feb. 1, 1959, in Blakely, W.Va.
She was a tool grinder for 31 years at Worthington Precision Metals, Mentor.
She enjoyed bowling, collecting bells, Elvis memorabilia and painting.
Survivors include her husband, Damon; a son, Carl; a daughter, Coline Rupe of Madison; five grandchildren, Kellie, Kyla, Caroline, Misty and Lisa; a great-granddaughter; three sisters, Joy Barnette and Dreama AuBuchon of Jefferson, and Gail Olinger of Madison; and two brothers, Obadiah “Bub” Proctor of Lewisburg, W.Va., and Nathan Proctor of Roaming Shores.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Service is 1 p.m. Monday at the Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva, with the Rev. Lloyd Banker officiating. Burial will be in Harpersfield Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Ronald C. Black
RAYLEIGH, Essex England – Ronald C. Black, 54, formerly of Madison, died at his home after a lingering illness, Sunday, April 1, 2001.
He was born April 1, 1947, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Floyd D. Jr. and Stella (Jurek) Black
He married Helen Black on Dec. 24, 1970, in Southend, England.
He grew up in Madison, graduating from Madison High School in 1966. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War. After a tour of duty in Thailand as part of a ground crew, he was stationed in Bentwaters, Ipswich, England, where he met his wife. Because of injuries sustained in a traffic crash, he retired as a sergeant after four years of duty. He lived in England until his death.
Mr. Black worked for Ford Motor Co. for 11 years; was a manager at Electro Mechanical Engineering for many years; and most recently worked for Saft as a training instructor.
He enjoyed family barbecues, attending air shows, building and flying radio-controlled airplanes, clay pigeon shooting and playing golf. He had a passion for computers and was working toward his Microsoft engineers degree.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; a daughter, Joanne Black of England; two sons, Mark and Ian of England; two grandsons, Lewis and Ryan; and two sisters, Arlane Dain of Conneaut and Julie Pelton of Madison.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1983; his mother in 1995; a brother, Floyd D. III in 1992; and an infant brother in 1956.
Funeral Mass was held April 10 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Leigh-on-Sea, England, with the Rev. John McGrath officiating. Burial was in Hall Road Cemetery, Rochford, England, with an Air Force Honor Guard serving as pallbearers.
Helen Benson
KENT - Helen Benson, 88, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, in Robinson Memorial Hospital, Ravenna.
Born Sept. 28, 1912, in Scranton, Pa., she was the daughter of Jacob and Lucy (Dworkoski) Perkoski. She lived in Conneaut for 30 years before making her home in Kent for the last 55 years.
She was employed by Durham Electric of Kent as a harness inspector.
She was a member of the Polish National Women's Club. While living in Conneaut, she was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She enjoyed playing bingo, gardening, sewing and bowling. She particularly loved spending time with her dog, Sam.
Survivors include her husband, Norman, to whom she had been married 50 years; and one sister, Ann Chase of Conneaut.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Mary Penza, Cecilia Watson, Sophia Kovacs and Frances Perkoski; and two brothers, Frank and Charles Perkoski.
Service will be held noon Tuesday at the Thompson-Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut. The Rev. Raymond Thomas of St. Mary's Church will officiate.
Internment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Mary's Building Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Phillip J. Loparo
EASTLAKE - Phillip J. Loparo, 45, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at UHHS Geauga Regional Hospital.
Born Feb. 4, 1955, in Cleveland, he was a son of Santo A. and Agnes J. (Lesjak) Loparo.
He lived in Mayfield Heights before moving to Eastlake 25 years ago.
He was a fleet mechanic for First Energy for 25 years.
Mr. Loparo received an Eagle Scout award in 1971.
He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
Survivors include two sisters, Marie D. Hlebovy of Chardon Township and Debbie Weigel of Hiram.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral was Sept. 8. The burial of cremated remains will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in All Souls Cemetery, Section 16, Lot 1525, Route 6 West, Chardon Township, with the Rev. Benny Soto, of Morning Star Friends Church, officiating.
There will be a reception immediately following the committal service at The Willoughby Hills Evangelical Friends Church, room 127, 2846 SOM Center Road.
