Lois I. Quayle, age 80, Lenox New Lyme Road, Jefferson, died Wednesday (April 4th) at her residence. She was born May 5, 1931 in Cleveland, the daughter of Herbert C. and Loretta (Wiegand) Schmidt.
She had lived in this area for most of her life. She was employed as an inspector for Kennametal for 17 years. And more recently worked several years for the Jefferson High School in the cafeteria. On April 6, 1996, Lois and Victor A. Quayle were happily married in Ashtabula.
Lois enjoyed bowling, dancing, and traveling. She also loved to play cards and putting jigsaw puzzles together.
She is survived by her husband Victor, two sons Robert “Bobby” J. (Denise) Nagy of Pickens, SC., & Joseph E. (Cynthia) Nagy of Jefferson; six grandchildren Bill Ross of Coshocton, OH., Mike Ross of Six Mile, SC., Jessica Nagy of North Charleston, SC., B.J. Nagy of Marietta, GA., Jonathan Nagy of San Francisco, CA., and Jared Nagy of Jefferson, five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Louise A. Ross, a great granddaughter, Roxie Ross and a brother, Herbert Schmidt.
Memorial services will be held Monday, April 9, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 89 E. Satin St., Jefferson, with Rev. Fred Grimm officiating.
Visitation will take place at the church Monday from 10-11 A.M. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave. Ashtabula, OH 44004, or to Regional Home Health Services, 3949 Jefferson Rd., Ashtabula, OH 44004, envelopes will be available at the church. The Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, is handling arrangements.

Kay H Howle
September 27, 1937 - May 17, 2012

Kay H. Howle, 74 of Timeless Lane, Madison died Thursday (May 17th) at her home. She was born September 27, 1937 in Darlington County, South Carolina the daughter of James T. and Annie J. (Hill) Howle .
She was a Records Clerk for the Miami, Florida Police Department for over 30 years before moving to northeast Ohio in 1999.
She enjoyed crafts, traveling, playing cards but most of all enjoyed working for the police department. She loved being around her extended family and she was a loyal Cleveland Indians fan.
Surviving her five nieces, Holly Howle with whom she made her home, Melissa Sprague of Geneva, Cynthia Palmer of Mississippi, Sherry (John) Gourley of Mississippi and Genia (Lynn) Toler of Mississippi; three nephews, John (Becky) Howle of Allen, Texas, James Howle of Madison and Joel (Mary) Howle of Smyrna, Ga.; a sister, Sylvia Rayburn of Tupelo, Mississippi and a sister-in-law, Nancy Howle of Madison. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John Howle in 2010 and by a sister, Ruth Mountzouris. Funeral service will be Monday (May 21st) at 7:00 PM at the Geneva Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 323 South Broadway, Geneva with Rev. Bruce Hitchcock officiating.
Calling hours will be Monday from 5 to 7 PM at the at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave. Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.

Ralph H Dubach
May 20, 1918 - May 10, 2012
Services: May 16th, 2012 at 1:00 PM
Ralph H. Dubach, 93 of South Ridge Rd. West, Saybrook Township died Thursday (May 10th) at his home. He was born May 20, 1918 in Ashtabula the son of Frederick and Martha (Shipbaugh) Dubach and has been a lifetime area resident.
He was a 1936 graduate of Ashtabula High School. He had been employed with the True Temper Corporation for 10 years and retired as an Agent for Nationwide Insurance.
He married Dorothy Root on June 27, 1940 and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on October 19, 1957.
He enjoyed gardening, traveling and fishing.
Surviving him are three sons, David (Evelyn) Dubach of Ashtabula, Robert (Lois) Dubach of Geneva, and Jerry Dubach of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter, Marilyn (Chuck) Pennell of Mansfield, Ohio; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Dubach of Ashtabula and a sister, Annabelle Swedenborg of Ashtabula. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy in 2008; a son Frederick “Peter”; three brothers, George, John and Fred Dubach and a sister, Elizabeth Reasner.
A memorial service will be Wednesday (May 16th) at 1:00 PM at the Ashtabula Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 5614 Poplar Ave. Ashtabula with Donald Mack leading.
The Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 526 West Prospect Rd. Ashtabula is in charge of arrangements.

Mary N Painter
August 19, 1926 - May 7, 2012
Services: May 10th, 2012 at 11:00 AM
Mary N. Painter age 85 of Plymouth Township, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 7, 2012 at the Ashtabula County Medical Center. Survivors include her son, Dana (Jane) Painter, Jr. of Crossville, Tenn.; daughters, Mary Lee Brooks of Strawberry Plains, Tenn. and Debbie Friedstrom of Plymouth Township; grandsons, Tony Bunner and Jason Friedstrom; granddaughters, Kim Molter, Tammy (Jeff) Merritt, Lisa (Shane) Terry, Lindsey Friedstrom; great-grandsons, Michael Weimer, Cori Bunner, and Chase Terry; great-granddaughters, Brittney (Kenton) Tilburg and Paige Terry; brothers, Ray (Esther) Sowder and Howard (Sandi) Sowder; sisters, Lucille Noirot, Fay (Heartsell) Porter and Joy (Willard) Reynolds and Many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dana, Sr., son-in-laws, J. E. Brooks and Ed Friedstrom; sister, Sarah Brown and Great-great granddaughter, Sidney Tilburg.
Funeral service will be Thursday (May 10th) at 11:00 AM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 526 West Prospect Rd. Ashtabula with Pastor Don Hammer of Gateway Church officiating.
Calling hour will be Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Plymouth Volunteer Fire Department, 1001 Plymouth Rd. Ashtabula, Ohio.
The family would like to thank Ashtabula County Medical Center 2 North and Dr. Cho for the wonderful care they gave their Mother.

Karen L. Johnson
September 10, 1947 - May 2, 2012
Services: May 5th, 2012 at 5:00 P. M.
Karen L. Johnson, age 64, Lanese Dr., Windsor Twp., died on her father’s birthday, Wednesday, May 2 at University Hospital in Cleveland.
She was born September 10, 1947 in Warren, the daughter of George V. & Pearl (Draeger) Smith and grew up in Colebrook Twp. and has resided in this area all of her life. Karen was a graduate of Grand Valley High School and received an associate degree from Kent Statue University-Geauga Campus where she was named in Who’s Who of College Women.
Karen was a 44 year employee of Kennametal Corp., retiring in 2010. She was a member of the Colebrook United Methodist Church and enjoyed golfing, bowling and traveling.
She is survived by her step-mother, Janice F. Smith of Orwell, her longtime companion, Michael F. Maruna of Windsor Twp. and his three children, Michael J. Maruna of Boise, ID, Maureen A. Maruna of Roaming Shores & Brittany R. Maruna of Chesterland.
Her parents, her grandparents, three aunts, one uncle and many cousins preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 5:00 P. M. at the Jefferson Home of the Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Laurie Evinsky of the Colebrook United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will take place in Colebrook Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 2-5 P. M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the family, in care of Janice Smith, 7740 St. Rt. 46 North, Orwell, OH 44076 for a memorial for Karen.

Minnie L. Sailes
December 6, 1920 - April 25, 2012
Services: May 2nd, 2012 at 2:00 P. M.
Minnie Sailes, age 91, passed away on April 25, 2012. Beloved wife of the late Dempsey Sailes, Sr.; mother of Dempsey, Alan, Bradley, Earl and Saundra with a host of relatives and friends. She was born on December 6, 1920 to the late Dave Levenuel (D.L.) and Nancy (Lowe) Conley in Boyd, Alabama. She was the fourteenth of twenty-two children. As a child she attended Boyd Institution, Boyd, Alabama, Sumter County Training School, Livingston, Alabama, and also Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama. She later relocated to Cleveland, Ohio with her sister Nancy Conley Powell, where she was employed at Chase and Brass, and TRW in the cafeteria. There she met and married Dempsey P. Sailes, Sr., and later was employed at Huron Road Hospital until she and Dempsey relocated the family to Cherry Valley Township (Andover, Ohio) in 1964 where she obtained a job at Andover Industries until her retirement in 1982. Minnie was a member of the Jehovah Witnesses Kingdom Hall. She was a loyal and faithful member of the congregation for many years. In December 2010, she moved back to Cleveland, Ohio, due to illness to live with her son, Alan Sailes. Minnie loved life and was a dear friend to many who she cherished like family. She touched many lives, she will be greatly missed and loved forever. Minnie loved gardening, canning, sewing and cooking. She was happiest when entertaining family and friends on their fifty acre farm.
Minnie will be laid to rest alongside her husband of 62 years. In the words of St. Francis of Assisi, “It is in dying we are born to eternal life.” Rest in peace Mom and Dad.
She leaves to cherish her memories, fours Sons; Dempsey P. (Mildred) Sailes of Memphis, TN, Alan T. Sailes of Cleveland, Bradley J. (Willie) Sailes of Williamsfield Township, and Earl Scott (Christy) Sailes of Andover; a Daughter, Saundra K. Sailes – Williams of Ashtabula; twelve Grandchildren, Calvin, Melvin, Damon, Marc, Denise, Tisha, Tiffany, Earl Jr., Aundria, Christina, Bradley and Karley; 25 Great-Grandchildren; Brothers; John H. Conley (Marie) of Livingston, AL, Richard C. Conley (Virginia) of Fontana, CA, Matthew and Paul Conley of Montgomery, AL, Eddie Roy Conley (Cecilia) of Colorado Springs, CO and two Sisters; Amy C.C. Bell of Fontana, CA and June Rhone of Pomona, CA; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, May 2, 2012 in Fleming-Billman Funeral Directors,, 49 W. Jefferson Street, Jefferson, Ohio.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the funeral home from Noon until the time of service. A gathering of family and friends will be held following the burial at the Cherry Valley Township Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be forwarded to the Alzheimer’s Association, Cleveland Area Chapter, 23215 Commerce Park Drive, Suite 300, Cleveland, OH 44122.

Betty M Trumfio
December 1, 1921 - April 26, 2012
Services: April 29th, 2012 at 3;00 PM - 6:00 PM
Betty Marjorie Trumfio passed away on April 26, 2012 due to complications from her advanced age. She was born in Melbourne, Victoria in Australia on December 1, 1921. After completing her degree in Industrial Art at Brighton Technical School in 1939, she began her work as a designer in dress making.
In 1944, she met and married the late Francis (Frank) Trumfio in Gatton, Queensland, Australia, where his MASH unit was stationed during World War II. After being separated for two years she arrived in Campbell, Ohio to be reunited with her husband. Soon after settling in Geneva, she began a long life of work, including owning her own beauty shop, working 30 years at Carlisle’s and completing her career in retail at Sears at the Ashtabula Mall in May of 2011. Her work at Sears was one of the joys of her life where she always enjoyed being around the public and especially her co-workers.
Betty was an accomplished artist and leaves her family with many original pieces of art dating from her time in art school up until recent years. She was dedicated to Animal Protective League and wrote many letters to support the shelter. She received many responses from the public that also supported APL.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Don) Sims; grandchildren, Ryan (Lisa) and Cory Geho; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Sophia and Griffin Geho; many nieces and nephews both here and in Australia and by her beloved cats, Sweetie, Happy, Fluffy and Muffy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lance and Doris Rippon, and brothers, Max and Bill Rippon.
Visiting hours will be Sunday (April 29th) from 3 to 6 PM at the Geneva Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 323 South Broadway, Geneva. At her request there will be no funeral service. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in Geneva.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to The Animal Protective League, 5970 Green Rd, Kingsville, Ohio 44048; a pet adoption in Betty’s memory or to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave. Ashtabula, Ohio.
