Betty Lou Phillips, 79
Betty Lou Phillips, age 79, passed away at Alliance Community Hospital September 17th, 2020.
She was born June 19, 1941 to Allen and Garnett Phillips. Betty graduated from Alliance High School in 1959.
She relished being a homemaker, wife and mother, she then obtained a nursing degree from Hannah Mullins in 1978. Her nursing career started with home health care, then Nist Healthcare Center and ultimately at Alliance Community Hospital where she worked 22 years in the ICU department. Nursing was her calling in life, her compassion and empathy for her patients was second to none, ensuring a level of dignity in a person's most trying moments.
Betty enjoyed her retirement years spending time with her beloved dogs, cooking delicious meals, her coffee pot was always full and her kitchen was a favorite for many friends and family.
She was the blonde hair, blued-eyed lady in her red corvette on warm summer days.
Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, especially her special Dylan.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Ben (Deanna) Walter; grandsons, Dylan and Barron Walter; her sister, Linda (Robert) Anderson; and her niece, Roxanne (Darryl) Chernikovich.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Patricia Mohr.
A public visitation will be held Wednesday, September 23 from 12 - 1 p.m. at Cassaday-Turkle Christian Funeral Home with the services to follow. Nancy Castellucci will be officiating. Internment at Highland Memorial Park.

Roger D. Edwards, 67
Roger D. Edwards, Age 67, passed away in the comfort of his own home surrounded by family on Saturday, September 12, 2020 and NOT from COVID-19. Roger was born on August 24, 1953 in Alliance, OH to the late Charles and Jane (Brown) Edwards. Roger enjoyed playing bingo at the local bingo halls, roofing and siding, talking to family and friends on the phone, hiding snacks in his room and being a comedian at times. As a youngin, he enjoyed bowling with the guys and hunting and had one hell of a throw and aim. Roger is survived by his daughter Gena (Seth) Van Orsdale and granddaughter Natalie whom he loved very much and couldn't express it enough. He is also survived by brothers Tim (Alliance), Lynn (Minerva), Larry (Streetsboro), Jeff and Todd Edwards (Homeworth). A sister, Peg Davis of Fairfax, VA. and a large amount of nieces and nephews to go along with that. He is preceded in death by both his parents, Brothers: Jerry, Duane (Buck) and Kim. Sisters: Jan, Tracy and Pam. Sister-in-laws Wilda and Judy. Roger had no life insurance at the time of his passing and the family is asking simply for monetary donations to help pay for the cost of his services. Donations can be made directly to Dean's Funeral Home in Sebring, Oh in his name or through the Go Fund Me account that has been set up via Facebook.
The family is putting together a celebration of life dinner at the family farm on September 27, 2020 at 2:00pm to celebrate the home going of an awesome guy. He loved having people over to the house and he didn't want any of us to make a big fuss about his departure. We are hoping everyone can come out and enjoy each others company and let's talk about all the crazy things Roger has done in his 67 years of life. We will have all his favorite dishes and all his favorite "big girls" will be there.
Food/drink donations are also greatly appreciated and accepted.

Eric B. Penrod, 42
Eric B. Penrod, 42, of Charleston, SC (born in Alliance, OH) went home to be with the Lord suddenly on Wednesday September 16, 2020. Eric is the son of the late R. Bruce Penrod and Carol A. Penrod (Jones) of Alliance. He is brother to Aimee E. Harper of Bolivar, OH, Gretchen M. Buhrow (Peter Buhrow) of Strongsville, OH, and Heidi P. Matthews (Jeff Matthews) of North Canton, OH. He is the beloved uncle to Emily Hyde (Matthews), Sarah Matthews, Alexandra Harper and Joseph Harper, and adopted brother of Sherry Callahan (Chris Callahan) of North Canton, OH. He was loved by many wonderful friends and his extended Charleston, SC, and Folly Beach family, which included many fellow musicians. Eric graduated in 1996 from Marlington High school.
He was a professional musician who was very well known and respected in the Charleston area, where he lived since 2009.
He was a student of jazz music at the University of New Orleans and continued his musical education at Kent State University. His musical career spanned from his early days with the band Skinny, to more recent endeavors with 17 Under and One Kool Blow, with his amazing friend Tim Davis. Eric mesmerized all who watched him play and had a way of soothing the souls of any ear that happened to catch a whisper of his beautiful music. He followed his dreams of playing music and living life on his own terms.
He was plugged in to the common man which resonated from his fingers when he played. He lived his life as a selfless person, always loving and showing kindness to those around him. Eric was a very private individual, but exemplified his musical talents and love for others to thousands who were fortunate enough to hear him perform.
He was an acclaimed guitar player and admired for his talents. His family is in awe of the outpouring of love by numerous friends in Ohio and in South Carolina and all of their kind words and expressions of love.
Calling hours will be held at Cassaday-Turkle Christian Funeral home in Alliance, OH, on Friday, September 25th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, September 26th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Cynthia L. (Betz) Burrier, 69
Cynthia L. (Betz) Burrier, 69, of Alliance passed away at her home on Friday, September 18, 2020. Cynthia was born on September 30, 1950 in Alliance, Ohio to the late Donald and Ruth (Ward) Betz Sr. Cynthia worked as a Nurses Aid for many years and then retired from Perkins Restaurant. In her free time she enjoyed crocheting afghans, donating them to veterans and giving them to family and friends, and she was an avid Bingo player. Cynthia is survived by her children Brenda Kale, Brian Shaw, and Bruce Lemasters; a son-in-law Greg Kale; siblings Donald Betz Jr., Donna Jean Shreffler, Sandra Meredith and Chris Sams.
Besides her parents Cynthia was preceded in death by her husband Gary Burrier, and two brothers Kenneth and Samuel Betz. Per Cynthia's request no services will take place and a private burial will be held at Highland Memorial Park, Beloit, Ohio.

Patricia "Pat" (Haines) Oyster, 89
Patricia "Pat" (Haines) Oyster, 89, of Alliance, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, September 18, 2020 at 7:50 am at Community Care Center in Alliance, Ohio. Born on March 13, 1931 in Alliance, to Earl and Mary (Bourne) Haines, she lived in Alliance all of her life. Patricia was a member of Alliance Baptist Temple and also a member of the Roma Society. Patricia enjoyed bowling and playing bocci.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda (John) Raga of Alliance; two sons, Craig (Sue) Oyster of Seven Hills and Douglas (Kathy) Oyster of Deerfield; six grandchildren, Wendy Anderson, Elisha (Chad) Fish, Aaron (Sherry) Raga, Kyle (Madalyn) Oyster, Jacob (Shawna) Oyster and Cody Raga; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, Albert Oyster, whom she married on August 19, 1956 and who died on December 27, 2007; a sister, Betty (John) Hreah; a brother, William (Pat) Haines; a step-sister, Marylouise Young; and her parents.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home. Her Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Rev. Rita D. Pagnucco
Rita D. Pagnucco, age 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep after living a full, meaningful life. Rita's family was by her side at Aultman Community Care Center as she passed on September 14, 2020.
She was born May 20, 1934 in Buffalo, New York to Edward and Mary (Haas) Decker. Rita married the love of her life, Carl Pagnucco on April 18, 1953 and took up residence in Alliance, Ohio. Rita, better known as 'Nonie' by her Italian family, was the proud mother of four children, ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Rita's greatest love was her family and her faith. She would proudly boast about her grandchildren and the closeness of her family. A beloved mother and grandmother, Rita was well loved by her friends and family. Despite her large family, Nonie always made time for everyone. She provided support and love for her family and held a huge role in their lives. Rita had a love of life to be envied - she was the life of the party and always ready for a good time.
She was a fantastic role model for her children and family. Rita was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rita was also a member of Trentino Club and the Sebring Senior Citizens Club.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Darlene (Gary) Jordan of AZ, Donna Elliott, Pete (Lori) Pagnucco, of CA and Marty (Margee) Pagnucco; grandchildren: Jason (Jennifer) Jordan, Kristopher (Ara) Jordan, Jonathan (Linda) Pagnucco, Jesse (Brooke) Tice, Darcie (Tim) Goodman, Danielle, Deanna, Delanie, Dakarli and Antonio Pagnucco; and great-grandchildren, Autumn and Gabriel Jordan, Natalie and Nolan Tice, and Rosalie Rita Goodman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl in 1994, three brothers and two sisters. While her family grieves her loss, they are choosing to remember her in a way that honors her spirit. Rita's family invites you to a celebration of her life and homegoing service. Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, September 17th at Cassaday-Turkle Christian Funeral Home.

Chad M. Swiger
Chad M. Swiger, Age 26, of Alliance, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on September 5, 2020.
He was born on August 21, 1994 to William and Catherine (Patterson) Swiger in Wheeling, WV. He graduated from Rebecca Stallman Southgate School and attended Marlboro Christian Church. Chad enjoyed car rides, cruising around in his golf cart and walking in the water at the pool.
He loved his talking Barney, goose down pillows and Blues Clues. No matter where he was, he loved coming home the most.
Those left to cherish his memory are his foster parents of 17 years, Larry and Lucille Mohr; foster brothers, Guy (Lynne) Blume and Ken (Jeanette Weibush); special friends, Diana Miller; his parents; sisters, Lyndsay Swiger, Lauren (DJ) Rusnak, and Lexie Swiger; and paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Swiger.
He was preceded in death by foster brother, George Weibush IV; grandparents, Mary Anne and Robert Patterson Sr., and William Swiger Sr. A memorial service will be held at Cassaday-Turkle Christian Funeral home on Saturday September 19, 2020 at 3:00 PM. Dolores 'Dee' Daum
Dolores Daum, Age 92, of Alliance, passed away peacefully at The Haven assisted living center on September 12, 2020.
She was born March 10, 1928 to William G Wright and Sevilla Wright. Dolores was a 1947 graduate of Alliance High School. Besides being a wife and mother, Dolores worked at Libers Meat, Beverly Farms Dairy, both in Alliance and Steelcase in Grand Rapids, MI until her retirement. Dolores enjoyed crocheting, reading Amish books, shopping as well as traveling.
She was a member of Vine St. United Methodist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Linda (Terry) Wilson, of Alliance, Edward (LuAnn) Daum, of Minerva, Lou Ann (Paul) Stout of Westminster, Colorado; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Nathan Daum, whom she married in October 1946 and who passed away August 4, 2020; her parents, William and Sevilla Wright; two brothers, William Wright of Canton and Robert Wright of Sandis, AL; and one sister Dorothy Callett. A funeral service will be held at Highland Memorial Park on Thursday, September 17 at 12:30. Friends may call at Cassaday-Turkle Christian from 10 - 11 on Thursday.

Eleanor M. Gologram
Eleanor M. Gologram, age 80, passed away peacefully at home on September 11th, 2020.
She was born August 18th, 1940 in Powhatan Point, OH to Walter and Veda Conrad Keating (Spicher). Eleanor graduated from Zelienople High School in 1958. She worked as a bookkeeper for the YWCA and the Stark County Library.
She was a member of the First Church of God in Alliance. Eleanor enjoyed music, singing and dancing. She also enjoyed playing pinochle with her card club. Eleanor loved spending time with her grandchildren, her siblings and their families.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Harry 'Lee' Gologram whom she married on May 25th, 1967; daughters, Cynthia Magan (John) Adams, Lori Magan (Timothy) Ecrement, Tina Gologram (Greg) Angeletti; sons, James and David Gologram; sister, Gladene Boren; grandchildren, Nicole Pennington, Drew, Derek and Tyler Ecrement, Kelsie Angeletti, and Kristina Butts; great-grandchildren, Hayden and Kendal Pennington, Colton Ecrement, Jean and Allie Butts; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Sgt. Mark Gologram, sisters, Beatrice Ann Westover, Alverta Toth, Berneace Beckner, Dorothy Beight; brothers, Clair, Kenneth, Blair and Horace 'Ralph' Conrad. A graveside service will be held on September 16th at 12:45 p.m. at Alliance City Cemetery.

Dorothy J. Schartiger, 96
Dorothy J. Schartiger, Age 96, passed away peacefully at Altercare of Navarre on September 9, 2020.
She was born February 25, 1924 to Robert and Mary Kommel. Dorothy was a 1942 graduate of Alliance High School. She then worked on an assembly line making airplane parts for the war effort.
She married Charles Schartiger in 1945.
She was a member of Hartville United Church of Christ for many years. Dorothy enjoyed shopping and going to lunch with her daughter and grandson. She also liked gardening and canning tomatoes with Charles.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jean (Tim) Paul; sons, William (Sharon) Schartiger, John Schartiger, Tim Schartiger; grandson, Michael (Heather) Paul; granddaughters, Laurie (Carlos) Azeglio and Lisa Schartiger; great-grandchildren, Henry Zimmerman, Camille Azeglio; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles W. Schartiger, who passed away at 80 years old after 50 years together; five brothers, Robert, Lawrence, Raymond, Donald and Dwight Kommel; two sisters, Alta Shoemaker and Helen Baith. A memorial service will be held at Cassaday-Turkle Christian Funeral Home on Saturday, September 19th at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call for one hour prior. The family asks that social distancing guidelines be respected and that guests bring their own masks.

Jerry Lynn Weese "Jake"
Alliance - Jerry Lynn Weese "Jake" passed away Thursday September 3, 2020 as the result of an auto accident.
He was born May 17, 1970 to Jack and Pamela (Criss) Weese. He is survived by Sons; Nick, Jacob (Cassie), Brandon Lee Weese; Fiancée'; Kimberly Ledsome, Brother; Terry (Katrina) Weese, Grandchildren; Wyatt, Elliott, Kayson, Bruce, Drake, and William.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Grandfather; Jim Cress, and Sisters; Loraine Yeagley, Debrah Weese. Jake enjoyed golfing. He volunteered at the Science Hill Community Church where he also attended. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his Grandchildren. Per his request cremation will take place and a Graveside Memorial Service will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit Friday September 18, 2020 at 11am with Pastor Jon Truax officiating.
